500 MASSOB members grace Igbo Day celebration

OWERRI— Over five thousand loyalists of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) stormed Owerri, Imo state capital, in solidarity to this year’s Igbo Day celebration organised by Ohaneze Ndigbo.

[b]Members of the group, who wore and displayed Biafran insignia, including the Biafran flag, were led by the leader of the organisation, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike.

On seeing the intimidating number of the group, all the security personnel stationed at the venue of the event, who tried in vain to lock the MASSOB members out of the Dan Anyiam Stadium Complex, had to relax.

Speaking at the occasion, Chief Uwazuruike regretted that all the South East Governors and other elected and appointed public office holders of Igbo extraction shunned the event.

He told the crowd that his loyalists and Ndigbo were tired of the Nigerian project, adding that the Igbo target was to actualize a sovereign nation they could conveniently call their own.

Earlier in his address, the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Ambassador Ralph Uwechue, lamented that there was  the feeling today that the Igbos, as a people, are being deliberately sidelined, especially in the sphere of political leadership of the country.[/b]

I thought Ralph Uwechue is from Delta. Have they finally agreed that they are Igbos to the extent of becoming Ohaneze Nd'Igbo president?

They finally agreed they are Zulus. People ask the dumbest questions on NL like this the 1st time an Igbo from Delta state has ever held top position in an Igbo organization. Its old news to me. Go check ur history.

The igbos have the right to choose where and what they want to be, simply put, human right!, i just dont think the solution lies in division, but if they think they will be better being left alone then so be it.
The fear is that in another 50yrs time, the niger delta (if they go with the igbos) will definately want to divide too and thats how the disintegration will continue.

The psuedo-sideline of the igbos from the nigerian political power is due to the injuries caused by some loyal nigerian soldiers with good intent that ended the wrong way, that wound will heal it only needs time and good leadership from the igbo people,
