Roberto Mancini is ready to grasp the chance of leading Nigeria at World Cup 2010 as he hints at his predilection for the role. The former Inter coach, who has been linked with Real Madrid and Manchester City, has confirmed earlier reports which claimed he had been offered a role by the Super Eagles. "The prospect of coaching in the World Cup and African Nations Cup is one that fascinates me," Mancini told La Gazzetta Dello Sport. "I was asked whether I was available, and I gave my availability. If they [Nigeria] really want me then I will sit down and talk with them." Mancio has ruled out an Italian club. Genoa were said to be interested in his services for the future, but, as expected, the former Sampdoria man is not keen on the possibility given his past as a player. "Genoa? This is a tough group. We need to prepare well and hard. Playing Argies first is a killer. we lost to them in our opening at 2002 WC. We also have south korea to deal with and of cos Greece could prove a tough nut to crack. Well, well, well, where do we go from here? perhaps a foriegn techie to work with Amodu ? |
