Ladies and Gentlemen of NL its time to vote for the Poster of the Year on the Sports Board.

Qualities:
- Strong analytic mind
- Consistent
- Up-to-date with sports related issues
- Honest
- Respectful i.e someone who is not rude and does not insult other members/posters irrespective of the situation or even when trying to prove or drive home his/her point.

Lets have your nominees from which we will make a shortlist of 5 members.

I will start by nominating Dominique. For me she is the epitome of everything good on NL (not just the Sports Board).  wink cheesy

Thanks.

Errrrr,FBS you MUST remove those qualities you listed above. Are you looking for FBSs poster of the year or the forum's poster of the year. You run the risk of being perceived as wanting to rail-road posters or teleguide the poll in your preferred direction.

When nominating their "man of the year",Time magazine does not only look for those who appear to be good-mannered gentlemen,or those that possess qualities that Time magazine loves;that's why some not-too-liked fellas have won it in the past.

BTW one man's meat is another man's otapiapia

Ok lads, I will remove most of the qualities required since no single candidate can meet them I wanted to do the right thing. My bad.  grin

Fellows its open and free for all. As long as you contribute to this board!
Name your candidates/nominees and abeg, today. At least five.

Monsieur Rasputin, I think you are very wrong or rather you have a wrong perception about me or my post.
However, could you be kind enough to list the "qualities" required? Those that won't be perceived as rail-road -ing?
I would have thought I listed the right ones. Please feel free to correct me.

Sagamite:

Believe you me, I have no bleeding idea why.  cheesy

Is it?  grin

Add Dr Kitaun, Jarus and FBS to the shortlist. These are the only guys I have seen their names regularly with good or at least specious arguments over an extended period of time. I have seen others only in the last month, so cannot vouch for a year.

I don't follow, or have ever even visited, the EPL threads, as I hardly give too much of a toss about football that is not Nigerian except I am being shown the highlights or a Nigerian is in the team. So I don't know the contributions of guys like debosky, Sauron, tkb etc that concentrate on those threads in Sports.

From my understanding of human psyche, my advice to you is to set up a polling list at the top as most people are more likely to click on a choice than comment really.

Being Mod should not be an issue as long as the vote is transparent.

Everyone should have a fair chance or else the elected winner is not on merit.

South Africa was not the real ANC champion in 1996.  grin

If the weight of your and Dominique's posts merit nomination, then include the names.

After unconsciously researching the overestimated issue of relationships, I have come to the conclusion that "almost" all relationships have something in common- their initiation and sometimes their continued existence is motivated by the mutual SELFISHNESS of all the involved parties.

I use the word "almost" only because i want to give some of the people who answered my questions an opportunity to exempt themselves from this categorization, even though i will not personally exempt most, if not all, of them.

Though i consider this cowardly, i also consider it wise, since it helps me to preserve some somewhat important relationships.

This conclusion is the product of a continued questioning of my suuroundings and a never ending commitment to understanding by reflecting and analyzing. Some say it is complicated, i say its living and not just existing.

When i asked the question "Why are you in this relationship," in different forms, "almost" all the answers i received pointed to the fact that the respondents were in the relationship to gain something from it. "Almost" no one was in the relationship with a defined purpose of adding something to it.I may not be able to give explicit details because i have to protect the privacy of those who responded to my questions at one time or the other. I also consider this cowardly and wise for the same aforementioned reason.

Let me quickly comment that it is alright with me if you consider my views utopian or poorly thought out. I also tend to see them in the same light.

Everyone wants a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, or any other person, that will among other things:

-show them love
-show them care
-accept them
-be a good person
-bring out the best in them
-be a good spouse in the future
-give them the emotional attachment they desire

I do not remember anyone saying "My main aim of going into this relationship is to:"

-give love
-give care
-accept someone
-show someone that i am a good person
-bring out the best in someone
-give someone the needed emotional attachment

The closest most respondents came was to say that they will only give these things if there is hope of receiving something back.

Worse still, some respondents chided other people who go into relationships for sex or money. The truth is that such people are just as good or bad as any of us since they are also into relationships because of the pleasure they will derive from it or the money they will make from it.

I regret to announce that i am very much guilty of the aforementioned "offences."

I once read a view similar to mine in a book i saw in Jeanise's room titled "I Kissed Dating Goodbye." However, i did not reckon with it at that time because i considered it to be the product of some spiritual dogmatism. I know better now.

The fact that upon reflection, i can come to the same conclusion as the author of that book says much about all what Dr. Edmonds has been saying about thinking and writing.

I may propose a solution after i read your proposals in your comments.

FBS,
At the risk of being accused of protesting, I think there is nothing that says a mod cannot be nominated, especially if it is not the the section the person moderates. Some Mods made the nominee list in other sections.

This is just a note though, as I recognise your decision as a Mod is final. I'm even flattered my name was suggested. If anything, dominique is more consistent ,as she is consisitent poster on Naija sports. I have already voted for Sagamite though.

As for Sagamite, he's a foreign import. I doubt he knows the current managers of 3SC and/or Kano Pillars are.
