Re: Nigerian Man Attempts To Detonate Explosive On Delta Flight In US by No2Atheism(m): 12:36pm On Dec 26, 2009 |
Lagosboy: - Yes you are correct it has nothing to do with Terrorism . . . - I never said it had anything to do with Terrorism hence I do not know why and what you are responding to . . . notice what I said and I am quoting below: No2Atheism: Yes its valid to question the intentions of the Father by his connection to the so called "Islamic Bank". . . - Nevertheless the Fathers involvment with "Islamic Banking" shows that the Father is associated with a group of people who intend to practise Islamic financial values . . .hence which gives an insight into the mindset of the Father as regards Islam and the interaction of Islam with the general society.
I must confess that I actually like the financial idea of Islamic banking , however I do not like the Islamic motives behind Islamic banking . . . because I know that most things about Islam is geared towards either violent or non-violent Islamisation. Hence as far as I am concerned, I consider "Islamic Banking" to be a Trojan Horse . . . |

The man is a nigerian engineering student from University college london and- wait for this- SON OF DR UMAR ABDUL MUTALLAB RETIRED CHAIRMAN OF FIRST BANK OF NIGERIA PLC. Case closed Add that to the fact that Dr Umar Abdul Mutallab is CBN Governor Lamido Sanusi's best friend. Mutallab appointed Sanusi as CEO of First Bank. They also worked together in UBA. |

With regards the arguments by Lagosboy on pressure required to cause an explosion, you cannot make any definitive comments on that. What we are told is that the plane was 'preparing to land' - it could mean the pilot was making the final approach to the airport and still be thousands of feet in the air - so there would be sufficient differential pressure between the inside of the plane and the external atmosphere to rupture the fuselage and cause a break up of the craft in the air. I don't buy the 'maximum casualty' story - a terrorist attack causes FEAR more than anything else, even if there are a few casualties. This is a terrorist attempt, no doubt about it. No one screams about Afghanistan on a plane, sets of an explosion and all that without having terrorist intentions. |

PLEASE GUYS HE IS A NIGERIAN I AM IN EUROPE MONITORING THIS. READ THIS FROM US SECURITY ; The sources told CNN that the suspect flew into Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam on a KLM flight from Lagos, Nigeria, and is not believed to be on any "no fly" list, although his name does appear in a U.S. database of people with suspect connections. He did not undergo secondary security screening in Amsterdam, an administration official said. The administration official said there was no evidence that Abdulmutallab was a hard-core, trained member of al Qaeda. Abdulmutallab, a Nigerian national, claimed to have extremist ties and said the explosive device "was acquired in Yemen along with instructions as to when it should be used," a federal security bulletin obtained by CNN said. GOD HELP NIGERIAN TRAVELLER |
Re: Nigerian Man Attempts To Detonate Explosive On Delta Flight In US by paddylo1(m): 12:42pm On Dec 26, 2009 |
Not really!am watching cnn right now in philly, they say the guy would have to have been checked and frisked in amsterdam b4 heading to the U.S so something here is not quite right. . . if he was on no fly list as reported and also was being monitored by the authorities, how come he is able to evade security in 2 different airports? |
Re: Nigerian Man Attempts To Detonate Explosive On Delta Flight In US by Gbawe: 12:45pm On Dec 26, 2009 |
skyone: This would be true if all Americans are ignorant folks who will assume that the actions of one man is indicative of the typical behaviour of150 million individuals. We should put things in perspective !!! This , to the best of my knowledge, is the first Nigerian , out of 150 million, caught trying to carry out a terrorist act since 911 !!! How about nations that produce numerous terrorists and extremists regularly? Should those nations be wiped off the face of the Earth working with the assumption that all citizens of such nations are terrorists and extremists ? |

Re: Nigerian Man Attempts To Detonate Explosive On Delta Flight In US by Lagosboy: 12:46pm On Dec 26, 2009 |
debosky: you have a point , but 15 mins from landing means you are on US soil and most probably cannot be thousands of feet above ground. AQ terrosim is not about scare like IRA or ETA , theirs is maximum casualities , what have they to gain from fear. Your last comment about aghanistan i read as well, but it is absolute ridiculous as how can he be screaming Afghanistan is just not coherent. Eye witnesses are not the most reliable in terrosit cases as they say lot of crap they did not even hear. I remember the Demenzes case in London, some eye witness said they saw him running , others said he carried a ruksack, some said he wore a thick overcoat in the summer which were all later found to be false. Him chanting afghanistan makes no sense and just a spin in my opinion |

I think its high time muslims learn to condemn terrorism. Why is there an argument on this thread at all?? Why are the muslims on the thread finding it sooo hard to condemn what is an obvious attempt at terrorism?? I used to respect muslims until I came to Nairaland and met this very despicable attitude! |

MORE NEWS The suspect boarded in Nigeria and went through Amsterdam en route to Detroit, Rep. Peter King, the ranking GOP member of the House Homeland Security Committee, told CNN. A spokeswoman for police at the Schiphol airport in Amsterdam declined comment about the case or about security procedures at the airport for Flight 253. Schiphol airport, one of Europe's busiest with a heavy load of transit passengers from Africa and Asia to North America. |
Re: Nigerian Man Attempts To Detonate Explosive On Delta Flight In US by Niseed(m): 12:48pm On Dec 26, 2009 |
this serious!!!! considering obama is black and of african descent, the republicans are going to have a field day with this. This dude has single handedly messed up Nigeria. abi, we dey vex because obama went to Ghana and ignored Nigeria, now we want to blow up their planes. the consequences for this single act will be severe on Nigerians trying to go anywhere in europe or america now. Its bad enough we are labelled as fraudsters, now we've added terrorism to our resume. (DORA I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HOW YOU PUT A SPIN ON THIS MESS NOW). |
