Moisturize your hair, Braid for 2 years straight without putting chemicals in your hair(relaxer) and that's the result. wink

my hair has the roughest texture ever known to man embarassed.
i tried keeping it natural but i had to surrender to the evil relaxer when i couldn't run a comb through it sad cry
for me to get a 'fro like that, i'll prolly have to cut it low and start from scratch

Well if it helps, my hair broke my comb 2 years back lol. Try get the flat iron, I guess they have it in naija??
Anyways, you don't need to cut your hair but don't relax it. When u take your weave out, apply lots of olive hair lotion and try combing with that big mouth comb and then straighten it with the flat iron. That's what you should do before and after every braid for 2 years, e dey pain wen u start but the end result is lovely smiley

Ofcourse all the time! grin my natural hair texture? now thats the issue I'd have to chop it all off and start over for that which I wont for right now, my length is shoulder length which allows me enough hair to style in between extentions (usually curls/bob) but I am comfortable and well put together weave or no weave. For some black women, its NOT happening IDK why.

I've had hair for 7 years and am never going back to the creamy crack. Nothing is appealing about scalp burns and running from the rain like I'm training for Olympic trials.

Ive always loved the afro look, but with hair like mine, Ive never had a choice. I have the coarsest, fullest hair ever! My hair broke the comb when i was 4yrs old! I tried going natural 2yrs ago, but it was too unmanageable, even tried to like just blow it out a bit, i had to succumb to my usual relaxing. So for me there's almost no option.
Re: Would You Ever Go Back To Natural Hair? by peachie(f): 6:18pm On Mar 21, 2010
This is my hair now, i have very coarse hair but i've managed the texture quite well by applying african shea butter and braiding @ night b4 bed, i also let the steam of a warm shower penetrate to soften it somewhat oh and always condition unfailingly 1ce a wk. HTH

Oh gosh Peachie, I love your fro kiss kiss kiss kiss

How did you go natural?
Re: Would You Ever Go Back To Natural Hair? by peachie(f): 6:47pm On Mar 21, 2010
Hi Ebonyeyes, thanks grin

Simple i just cut my hair to about an inch, and started growing it out that way. When it was long enough to braid, i bought a wig and let my hair rest. I had to stop myself from combing constantly as that will cause breakage. Its really a learning process but i'm glad i stuck in there. I was discouraged constantly by some friends but hey its my hair after all! And now i get so many compliments.

Thanks for the reply babes, any products you recommend? Im scared of really short hair so I think I will just braid until I get some decent length before I cut the relaxed ends off.

Hi guys,
Ive currently made up my mind to go natural by not relaxing my hair anymore.just started 3 months back.but the problem i've been having is my hair breaks a lot, especially when washing, probably because its sooo light&thin.
Are there effective products you would recommend to stop hair breakage?

For me, i'm lazy about hair. . .don't have energy for the everyday combing and styling Yea, i look like a mad person sometimes, i no send grin It's either cutting the hair or braiding it or something for me.

i'm also lazy about hair, i cut my hair twice in the last 3 years because it was taking too much time to maintain.

i've been transitioning for just over a year, and i'm mostly natural now. i've trimmed 3ce and there's only a few inches of relaxed hair left. i really don't know what to do with short hair, so i wear braids all the time. it's not too good for my hairline, and it takes forever to get them done because my hair is too full.

deep conditioning, lots of moisture and protein treatments
another will be to completely avoid manipulating your hair when dry,
seal your hair (after moisturising) with oil, and drink plenty water

I'm also transitioning.  I just wear the hair in a pony tail.  Not so bad since 3/4ths of my hair is still straight. . .i sorta like the contrast of my curly roots to the straight tips grin

Buaha! I'm transitioning too smiley

I haven't relaxed since November. My hair is seriously hating me right now though. I'll have to increase the amount of deep conditioning treatments I do. I'll be wearing braidouts or flat ironing my hair throughout. Hopefully I can stick it out this time. My last transition lasted 9.5 months and then I relaxed it lol.

Everyone makes so much noise about shea butter doing the trick. It hasn't worked for me so far and my hair is still as hard as okporoko. Two years into the natural hair business. angry
