Wack or no wack, my opinion is this- it all comes down to the PEOPLE who these singers sing for. Majority of the 'buyers' in the the music market worldwide are teenagers who demand for light' crass, airy, no-sense-making and hugely COMMERCIAL music. They being the majority buyer actually dictate the direction today's music goes. Musicians and their record labels are under so much pressure to go with that which is in 'vogue'. If you sing the reasonable 'real' songs, you face the risk of getting no recognition and going broke. The smart ones go with the flow and churn out those things people want to hear and smile to their banks. For instance, 'most' people in nigeria will appreciate a Terry G or Timaya rather than say a Dare Art Alade.

2 best female vocal performance ,R&B
3, song of the year.
it was a combination of beats, and tonne of music while she rocked it with high noted vocals all through. moreso it is an feminist song and such songs always win best song awards because they are said to empower the woman , and when you win song of the year, you definately must have won best song in your genre,grammy awards are like a domino.

2 best R&B album
3halo- best pop, this though would have gone to adele- hometown glory if only the girl had included beats in her song. the music was not complete.

the grammy is still the best music award in the world.

Some songs are lyrically nonsense but its not the artistes that turns them to hits--

Now case studies--

1-Eeedris  recorded 'jagajaga' a very inspiring soci-conscious music but it became his waterloo .
you all knew what transpired and how he was left in the lurch and am sure you are part of the people that would blame him then.

1-Sound Sultan has been making one of the most conscious and relevant records in Nigeria
here are few tracks 'jagbajantis','koleyewon' 'motherland','king of my country','bushmeat' and latest single'2010'  but i ve never seen him go home with any 'hip hop awards' is it not you people that always vote for winners?
Like wise I dont see any company branding him,is he not good enough? artistes that sings frivolities are ur ambassadors aint it? its a reflection of all of you,thats what you prefer ,you want 'jolly' instead of reasoning-you prefer 'sayop .sayo, at concerts instead of stoppin to think and say 'Take 4 instance'

you prefer 'mocrofone madness' at shows other than  artiste who will cry and say'ko gbadun'

we have good music/good lyrics in this country ,you are the one selecting artist to make super stars and it reflects your mediocrity.

erm, this isnt a proffesional opinion, but i will barely call that r&b

ill give her best song (pop) best vocals (pop) and prob song of the yr *kanye shrug against a kanye shrug*
and sure in HELL wont call her album r&b unless the word has totally and completely lost its meaning
and with the grammy bein the best award in the world, id totally disagree with u- but that will bring another argument that im not bothered to get into-- its all promotion catered to average minds, i wont go there, cant be bothered
