Plaistow gun victim Samuel Adelagun was shot in chest

A boy of 16 shot dead in east London died from a bullet wound to the chest, a post-mortem examination has revealed.

Samuel Adelagun, of Newham, was shot in the upper left chest early on Saturday and died at the scene in Chesterton Road, Plaistow.

Officers think two balaclava-clad gunmen opened fire on a group of four youths, aged 15 and 16, from behind.

Police also found a boy of 15 who was shot in the abdomen. He is in a stable condition in hospital.

No-one has yet been arrested.
Dressed in black

The Metropolitan Police said 16 teenagers had been killed in London this year. Five of them were shot.

Police said both the victims of the Plaistow shooting, which happened at about 0320 BST, were known to them.

Detectives from the Met's Trident unit, which tackles gun-related crime within the black community, are investigating the death.

The shooting took place in parkland at the junction of Upper Road and Chesterton Road.

It is not known if the suspects arrived or departed from the area in a vehicle, but the gunmen were dressed in black and wore balaclavas, police said.

Det Ch Insp John Mackenzie said: "A number of shots were discharged and the youths dispersed.

"They then got together again outside Chesterton Road."

He said the teenagers had knocked on the door of a house whose owners "provided some shelter as Good Samaritans".

"The mother [of the deceased] is very distraught as you would expect. It is a traumatic and violent way for a loved one to go."

Tributes have been left at the scene by several people. One read: "To Sammy, one of the realist young bucks. Gone but never forgotten. 100% love. Liam."

Another message read: "RIP Sammy. Realist soldier. GBNEF."

Is it not true to say that children are now safer back in Nigeria than the UK where they could easily fall victim to gangs, drugs, prostitution, violence etc etc etc.

I work in London but do not live in London .

What I see on a daily basis when commuting to work is a largely directionless youth, abandoned to their own devices, hollow looking children, no spiritual direction, molded by a society that is against moral ethic and sound biblical principles.

Lets take New Cross of Peckham as examples, these areas are almost overrun by Nigerians and the third generation of Nigerian children have abandoned their heritage and gone one step worse than the Jamaican yardies of the 70s and 80s.

In fact Peckham is almost a no go Zone at certain times of the day and has accounted for most of these killings.

My point is this, in Nigeria at the very least children have a moral foundation to build on and succeed in life.

Gang or no gang, still didn't erase the fact that it's not really a place to bring up a child, parents doing more than 2 jobs just to survive, kids roaming about doing whatever they feel is right to them, what do you expect?

15/16yrs old joining gangs? gosh!!! well i am yet to hear or see anywhere in Nigeria where 15/16yrs old belong to gangs.

Sometimes I wonder if this forum is actually about Nigeria or some made up country with the same name. The things some people claim with absolute certainty on these threads are fantastical. If Nigerian kids could join a gang that lives in any neighborhood in London what would their other options be?

What a shame! Good question what was a 16 year old doing outside at 3am when boys his age where in bed with the parents doors firmly locked. Sad as it may be , i would regret to say that his parents simply failed him. God rest his soul.

A big lesson for Nigerian parents chasing money to come and show off in Nigeria or buy big cars and houses where they will end up never living in. Damilola Taylor was going to school when the animals attacked him but this one was outside at 3am in the morning?

i see your point but dont you think that the ones back home with the good moral foundation will still fall into crime (like they most do) due to the lack of jobs, infrastructures or simply that silly belief that money will answer all their problems?
simply read NL and posts from guys thinking that with money they could marry any 9ja babe, i understand fully why it is IMPERATIVE for any man over there to make money, by any means necessary.

When it comes to teenage mother, teenage deaths/ knifes and all that, UK ranks top ( google it), so you see why i still do not see UK as the right place to raise kids especially if the parents are the busy type?

Akwa Ibom minor gangs? and how many deaths you don hear? have you been there before? can you name the gangs you have seen there? and how did you know they are 15/16?  have you visited sierra lone before? why use sierra lone that is just fighting for stability after the war as an example?

I guess Osisikankwu, Shina Rambo and all Vikings, Eiye, Maf men, Bucket boys, were raised in London. This is really sad!

Apparently in some eyes, Nigeria is an epitome of morality when compared to the UK. Since gang crimes, murders, drug addiction and alcoholism has a higher occurrence rate in the UK than in Nigeria where stories about ritual murders, assassinations, kidnapping, armed robbery, rape are made up by the western press to make Nigeria look bad!

I WILL never raise my children in Nigeria where we can live behind high walls even though the crime rate is very low and the police are one step ahead of the criminals

These names you just named weren't stabbing/shooting people at 16, they could have gone worse within months/few years, unlike these ones who have started using guns/knife at this age of their life, what is likely to become of them if they get to Anini and the names you listed's age range?

Btw: except a child without parents, it's very rare to find a child of 15/16 outside in Nigeria around 11pm, not because it's not safe for them, but because their parents can't go to bed without making sure the kids are all inside.
Re: Another Nigerian Kid Shot Dead - London No Place To Raise Your Children ? by Epiphany(m): 11:30pm On Oct 24, 2010
I dont think its a case of London being a bad place. It's all probably down to where these particular Nigerians live, what kind of people they interract and mix with as well as their social status or standing. I know many, not one or two or three Nigerians that live in London with teenage kids. These kids are well behaved, have very good morals and are very hardworking. These people i know are just like myself - middle class people who while trying to make a living, happen to know that they have to make time for their kids. These people are professionals, doctors, bankers, engineers and so on.

Now, a lot of these people whose kids get into all these problems are those who are not, sorry to say, doing anything 'proper' with themselves. Just like someone suggested, many of them are either working two or more jobs or even when they have one job, these jobs are always done at odd hours of the day. e.g, the parents stay at home during the day (when the kids are in school) and are out working at nights and happen to leave the kids at home. When there is no monitoring of these kids at night, they tend to do whatever they want, without the parents knowing what they are doing and where they are. Secondly, because of the kind of jobs these parents are engaged in and the areas in which they live, their kids attend the schools that are besieged by gangs. They also live in these catchment areas where gangs happen to operate en-masse. When you live with gangs and school with gangs, it is very likely that you will get involved with gangs.

I see. You must be living in another Nigeria because Homeless children exist in Nigeria. Most of them are called Area boys and Almajiris. They sleep under bridges and in buses in the motor parks and yes, they stab people and fight. Osisikankwu didn't learn how to shoot a gun last year as did Soboma George who had a reputation in his secondary school days

You really need to visit public secondary schools in whatever town you live in and ask students to give you gist. Stop living in a bubble.Nigerian youths are violent and many of these cases go unreported. I bet you probably never heard about the murder in FGC PH in the 90s where a fellow student drove a screwdriver into a rival's ear.

Nigerians have only perceived morals and our press DO NOT report a lot of stories due to many reasons which I would not list BUT I would ask you to do yourself a favour and get informed. Visit Motor parks at 5.30am and see youths waking up. Don't assume they came from a house, stop and ask them where they slept and it would surprise you. These children have homes and sometimes do not return because they have nothing to eat at home.

Besides, many of the gangs of London kids are the poorest in the country and poverty riddled areas are usually strewn with violence (Nigeria is no different neither is the US) which is probably why you have no idea how depraved the country you live in actually is.

I knew it will get to these, people defending this ugly trend in the UK and justifying it because worse of this kind happens in Nigeria.

I cant never get tired of laughing at these kind of people.

LOL.
