Ngn Labour Law: S8(1) - Medical Examination by haydesh: 6:38pm On May 07, 2011
Labour Act: Chapter 198 (Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 1990)

8. (1) Every worker who enters into a contract shall be medically examined by a registered medical practitioner at the expense of the employer.

Isn't this section of 9ja Labour law orphaned, archaic, anti-privacy and not in line with modern trend

In South Africa, this is not allowed in their equivalent laws (BCEA and LRA) neither in the UK

Anyway, it explain why passing all this medical testing all this multi-phase interviews: aptitude, written, oral, role play et al

Are expatriates subjected to this as well?

most big companies do this as a policy. they do not want to have issues later on with employees claiming that the ailment arose during and in the course of employment with them and making claims. some do it in a discretionary way and it depends on the nature of the appointment eg for drivers(vision/hearing/reflexes).
