Five members of the NYSC serving in Rivers are reported to have been kidnapped today by unknown gun men. The corp members comprised of 4 females and 1 male.

This was heard from the 6 pm World News of the Silver Bird's Rythm 93.7 FM radio in Port Harcourt.

The comparison between this (if it is true, kidnapping five people) and people randomly slaughtering people as they walk by on the street is stupid. That's the same as comparing kidnapping in Colombia to the Darfur crisis, where do people get their reasoning from?

10 NYSC members killed during a major riot( that left about 800 people dead) in MORE THAN one northern states vs 5 NYSC members kidnapped, and possibly dead by gun men in just one state in the Eastern States(i.e South-South, South East) . . . . I think it is safe to conclude, in much the same way many rushed to conclude on the 10 deaths in the MANY STATES in the north, that the South East is also not safe for NYSC members. Or should we wait till the number reaches 10, and bodies are discovered or something? Why not declare a state of emergency now and withdraw NYSC members now, before it is too late.

Hmm, I guess it was 2011 that Nigeria saw its first crisis in its north where 1000s of southerners were targeted and 100's were killed. It was also the first time Nigeria saw the murder of corp members. Hundreds of people dying 'in more than one state' (that makes the hundreds more acceptable) should get the same reaction as five people being kidnapped by what are probably a handful of hardened criminals who would be slaughtered by their own townsmen, instead of a significant amount the majority of a towns youth like in the north who are roaming about now untouched even by the police, let alone their townspeople.

As if there's never been a kidnapping or murder of any corp members in any of the other 'regions'. These have never led to Nigerians asking that region to empty of NYSC members, because there clearly isn't a steady pattern of genocide.

You should know that some people may seem like they care about Nigeria, but are only looking for bad news and to 'rub it in', some people seem like they don't care about Nigeria but are doing their part to prevent it from (completely) collapsing.

Exactly, withdraw them because these people hate NYSC too.

You people talk as if the same Boro haram cannot try to replicate the northern problem in the south south just to make the south south look like its the same with the north. Not saying this is the case but it is very possible. so dont make any conclusions yet. No south south person will go and do that because his own people will fish him out and no oen will ever support him.
