Nairaland GeneralWhat Do We Want From Our Leader? No Really, What Is It? by NigeriansUnited(op): 1:23am On Mar 29, 2018
They say some of the core values of democracy are Life, Liberty,Justice,Common Good,Diversity, Popular Sovereignty and Patriotism. Looking at this list and just thinking about them, I can see how far our leaders are from delivering on the promises of a democratic rule. From a Federal Government trying to do right but cannot guarantee any of those values above, to state governments that prioritize the selfish interest of "the few" over the core value of "common Good"!

In a sentence or phrase, Tell me what you want from your Government! Someone said to me once "I just want a leader that respects the opionion of his or her people". What 's yours?

I guess this was what Mr Bill Gates saw about Nigeria! Roads are bad, buses are dilapidated yet we are building 'world class' bus stops.

Go and look at our public schools and see what they call chairs and tables there! Go and see people sleeping on the floors of emergency wards. See how poorly paid doctors are and how they are migrating en masse to Bolivia and Peru.

I appreciate a good work, but I just ask myself - why all the noise about a bus stop?

They have done well building this edifice, but I believe there should be more focus on people, people and people.
Honestly speaking, Ask yourself tonight how many pregnant women are going to be denied ante-natal care in general hospitals across Lagos because they cannot afford registration and other fees? How many students will not be able to sit for JAMB and WAEC because they cannot buy forms? How many Lagosians will be denied services that they've paid for in form of taxes and fees, because the Gov't is closed for business on a Thursday to commission a building? Ask? Ask? Ask? And Ask yourself again?

Your report is incomplete without the cost and the related budget line.
Please update with these missing items to make your information complete and credible.
Abeg, three gbosas for you my guy! Is a Toyota Venza really nice if it costs as much as a Bentley? I don't know, neither do you, so before we celebrate let's know the cost first!

This is really nice! What would make this really good is for us to know how much was spent on building this thing. The cornerstone of good governance is accountability!
