Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora: 4:05pm On Mar 01
You people are even checking viewers list? 😂 I’m just here for value.
I think I've already made it clear that I'm interested in assessment center gist so observing and learning quietly 😌 nothing more.
Plus I never really close this page on my browser, you can stop coming at me now. Let me view in peace. Thank you grin

UcBren:
Top of the morning to you and a Happy new month as well

I mean, it's usually "Viewing this thread: airsaylongcome, Nimora and 5 guests..." 😄😄

Man, I meant Multiple Assessment Portfolio. How does the "Motivational Alignment Profile" even help in the forthcoming stage...jeeezzz!!
Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora: 6:12pm On Feb 28
Peeping Tom ke? You’re tripping 😂 don’t read too much into it.

UcBren:
Exactly!! A huge chunk of what I'm focused on is work for now. I'm at least gaining some form of experience while preparing for whatever comes as a result of this assessment.

If you've noticed, I haven't been all that active. I occasionally view once and get going. It's early and it's the weekend, so I decided to "put pen to paper".

airsaylongcome made mention of the SHL MAP and it just felt like it went under the radar. That material is 💯 % useful.

Nimora, I know you do come here almost every night like a peeping Tom to see what you could come pick up (something of importance).

NLNGOFFERLETTER, please and please, be with us every step of the way. You and @Airsay are doing a whole lot on this thread - the equivalent of changing lives.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora:
Different context, different approach!
I still stand by my words. AC insights are process insights that help people prepare, while post-test discussions don’t really add value.

I believe in moving forward and I wasn’t against sharing information. When Edith said it boils down to individual ability to process information, I agreed… clearly my point was misunderstood.

I could go into a full breakdown, but there’s really no need. grin I mean, why is there a need for campaign after election grin grin

Plus I’m very sincere 🙂 my gender is definitely not up for debate I’d rather keep the focus on the conversation.😁

UcBren:
No way this is the same Nimora that didn't want things shared here.

By the way, I still don't know if you're sincere about your gender.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora:
Honestly, that’s a good question. You could try to look a bit more corporate, even though I know it can be a bit tricky for some of us Muslims. During the NNPC interview, I saw a few guys wear jeans with a long sleeve shirt (like a pocket shirt) and then pair it with nice corporate shoes. It still looked neat and presentable.

SUIT IS DEFINITELY NOT the only acceptable dress code. Just aim for business formal or very neat business smart.

Nabzi6:
I actually meant kaftan, but from your response it seems suit is the only acceptable dress code.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora: 11:03am On Feb 19
Now this is valuable intel. Thank you for sharing your experience, I really appreciate it.
Seeing this breakdown has also giving me reason why they kept asking in the job based assessment question like I keep my processes documented for others to see (Flip chart writing → clear documentation)

CaptEngr:
Online Proctored SHL Test - Ended 1st February.
The test then was very different by the way. Straight forward, no batch 1&2, no assessment 1&2. So I have a feeling we might see some changes in the timeline and exercises too going forward.

Progression emails were sent in the first week of April

Assessment Centre: between May - June

There was strict time control. For every exercise, there was always someone to clearly announce when time was up. Nobody wanted to overdo it, so everyone respected the timing.

During the group exercise, we were instructed to write our agreed solutions directly on the flip chart provided * it was a flip chart not board* . In my session, the case studies were mostly qualitative, though I suspect they have a mix of qualitative and quantitative scenarios in their case bank.

The presentation exercise also used a flip chart format. You would prepare everything in one room, and once time was up, you were escorted to another room to present using the same flip chart.

Personally, I tend to freestyle assessment centres and aptitude tests. I believe you can’t fully “prepare” for them, how you think, structure information, and respond under pressure carries you about 90% of the way.

That said, I went into the assessment centre with basically zero preparation ready to wing it as it comes. Looking back, a bit of research would have helped. Similar to the SHL test, those who attended later sessions (especially after the first week in Abuja) appeared slightly better prepared than those of us who went in early because they had a bit of information on what to expect at-least.

Sha last last, preparation aside, your thought process and composure still heavily influences your performance.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora:
Thanks for this beautiful piece. I find it really insightful and interesting. I have few questions though. How strict was the time management during discussions?
What do you wish you asked but didn’t? Did the group have to present verbally or just write on the board?
Were the case studies mostly quantitative, qualitative, or mixed?
If you could prepare again, what would you do differently? And lastly If you had to give ONE advice to someone attending soon, what would it be?

CaptEngr:
It was an interesting experience, even though I didn’t get an offer. Overall, it was a very valuable learning opportunity.

The numbers were quite high maybe between 600-750 candidates. They assessed 20 candidates per day, 5 days a week, for about two weeks in each location: Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt.

Each day, the 20 candidates were divided into two groups: A1–10 and B1–10. To maintain objectivity, your number became your identity for the day. So instead of introducing yourself by name, you’d say, “I’m A4,” for example. Group A and Group B had separate waiting rooms.

There were three exercises: a group exercise, a fact-finding exercise, and a presentation.

Group Exercise

We were split into smaller groups of five (e.g., A1–5, A6–10). Five invigilators were already seated around the room, observing. We were specifically instructed not to engage with them, and you wouldn’t know which assessor was evaluating you.
Each candidate received a document containing about six or seven case studies, each with different objectives. For the first 40 minutes, we were not allowed to communicate we had to analyse and take notes individually.
Afterwards, we had 20–30 minutes to discuss and agree on solutions, which we then wrote on a board.

Fact-Finding Exercise

This was the most interesting part. You’re given a task with almost no information. The assessors hold the detailed information, so you must ask precise and relevant questions within about 10 minutes to build your case.
My task was to choose between two NGOs for a donation. After gathering information, I had 5 minutes to structure my thoughts and present my recommendation.
Then came the twist, the assessors challenged your choice using information you may not have uncovered. At that point, you either stand your ground or switch sides. If you switch, they test your consistency by trying to push you back to your original decision.

I chose to stand my ground because I believed I had asked the most relevant questions and could defend my position confidently and I wasn’t really convinced with the points they brought up. Some candidates switched sides even twice 🤣

Presentation

After lunch, we had the presentation exercise. We were given a 10-page document about a business and asked to determine whether it could meet HQ’s targets. If yes, explain why; if not, explain why; and suggest additions or removals where necessary.

The key lesson here: every detail in the document matters. The follow-up questions were very specific sometimes even unexpectedly random.

It was a full day event from 7am to about 4pm but definitely worth the experience. TBH I was quite confident when I got home but it is what it is. After getting an email that I couldn’t get in “at that time” seeing the ad for this recruitment was the final nail. Anyways we move.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora: 2:02pm On Feb 17
I’m not upset, just direct. Differences in opinion are normal. I hope to meet you too, plus it’s not even an issue really.

UcBren:
I still wonder why Nimora is this pissed off to be honest.
Is it the test itself? I really hope to meet him/her one-on-one at the AC, and hope that we would have gone past this.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora: 1:58pm On Feb 17
I respect that it worked for you and I’m glad you felt more confident after your test. But my point has always been about the difference between sharing general process insight and dissecting test content.

Everyone prepares differently, your experience doesn’t automatically make the statement false but just like you said “depends on an individuals ability to process information” that’s totally okay. What helped me (and what I believe helps most ) is proper preparation through practice resources rather than post test discussions. So yes, it’s subjective, but my stance remains the same.

Wishing everyone the best as well.

quote author=Edith1900 post=138495055]Yes Nimora, everyone has a right to their opinion, but some opinions are myopic minded and this “ sharing questions after the fact doesn’t help anyone and only creates unnecessary noise. ” is one. I would love to put it as a false statement, but considering this is your truth, I would say then that it is subjective and depends on an individuals ability to process information to their use and benefit.

I wrote my test yesterday morning, and after the numericals felt satisfied with my performance, because I was able to recall some things i read on here that really impacted my performance. In the line chart question of plotting peoples body mass, I solved the first one and got a value way lower than what was on the y axis, i then remembered someone had a similar problem, read the question again and again before i could spot the mistake, and then got the answer right, this alone really boosted my confidence. Again, i got to a pie chart question and after forming my equation, and was thinking about what arriving at the answer would require of me, my mind went back to the comments i had seen here - there's one particular annoying question if you see it just skip it, immediately i realised this had to be the question and i skipped with my full chest saving myself some 2 minutes of precious time. And several other instances, i could go on to explain that contributed to me finishing my numericals and feeling satisfied with my performance, of test breakdown from the people who had earlier written.

Lets not forgot that one of the ways of preparing adequately for an exam is using past questions. Post test breakdown can serve as a past questions in this case but only if you see it as so. "Sharing experience AFTER everyone has sat the test helps future applicants and provides some clarity and insight for current ones" is indeed a true statement. I have been reading the past GTs experiences on the AC and just imagine if they didn't talk about the questions asked.

Dear Future GTs, use whatever information you see to your benefits, always try to see how an information would make you better of. Read their experiences, what they did, and the outcomes, while everyones experiences is unique and different, it will at least provide some insight on the route to go and not to, what to expect, what to do and what not to do, which you never know can change the trajectory of your assessment.

May God crown all our efforts with success.
Shalom.[/quote]

Lastly, Everyone has a right to an opinion, but don’t push it on someone. Definitely don’t come here to tell me what I should’ve/shouldn’t have done or talk down on someone because of technical issues that’s clearly, none of your business. If you can’t make a positive impact then don’t talk about it. It’s enough he or she is having issues, making it look like their fault doesn’t make the matter any better. Chao!
Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora: 3:19am On Feb 17
Process info helps. Test breakdowns don’t. Preparation resources are what actually give insight.
Process awareness is different from sharing questions. Knowing the stages is helpful, but real insight comes from preparing with proper resources, not post test breakdowns.
Personally, what gave me real insight was SHL practice resources, YouTube videos and preparation, not discussions after the test on this platform. But I do acknowledge the fact that the process info was helpful no doubt.

Dear future candidates, you don’t need recycled conversations to succeed. Don’t waste your time reading how someone else felt during the test, your experience is going to be different. Practice practice practice (with proper resources of course) That’s all you need.

Back to now, I can’t actually stop anyone from doing what they want but I’d always speak the fact. I’d stop here considering how much I despise back and forth

airsaylongcome:
Sharing experience AFTER everyone has sat the test helps future applicants and provides some clarity and insight for current ones. You lot would not have had any insight if candidates in previous recruitments had taken the stance that “ sharing questions after the fact doesn’t help anyone and only creates unnecessary noise.

But hey, you guys should do what works best for y’all

And no, it is not “disguising” it as “helping future candidates”. It is documenting the process and sharing your experiences. That documentation of the process and experience (which is different from what previous recruitments were like) is what becomes helpful in future. I didn’t know SHL had “interactive” tests. That’s a marked difference from 2013. If it hadn’t been mentioned here, I wouldn’t have known of it
Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora: 1:02am On Feb 17
You can keep the “spilled beans” to yourself. Sharing questions after the fact doesn’t help anyone and only creates unnecessary noise. Real value isn’t in recycling questions but in letting everyone focus on their own process.

Let’s not disguise it as helping future candidates because we all know Future candidates will be just fine preparing the right way.

UcBren:
1 more day to go for it to close up and we can then spill the beans of how it went and the questions asked.

Please ensure your friends and homies are all invited to this thread. Let's make it interactive like the previous sets.

A lot of people are on Whatsapp groups sharing info, which doesn't exactly help the others over here.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora: 12:53am On Feb 17
Not every situation needs commentary, please have some decorum! especially when you don’t know the details.
If it was rushing, I wouldn’t be dealing with a technical lock. Let’s not oversimplify things!

UcBren:
I still don't get why people would be rushing to take the assessment on the last day or a day to the last.
These technical issues are the main reasons this assessment was meant to take 8 - 9 days and some still try pushing their luck on the last day. If na like this you wan rush their DCS for their facility, them fit no look your face before sending you out oh, lol.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora: 10:19pm On Feb 16
Since when did you mail last and when did your issue start
Did you speak to SHL live chat agent
Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora: 10:18pm On Feb 16
I called both. NLNG didn’t direct me to their agent, they just kept me on hold and wasted my airtime. It was SHL that eventually explained it to me on call

Conversations20:
You called NLNG? Or SHL?
Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora: 10:08pm On Feb 16
Also it’s same mail they used to invite us for the test. Not the SHL own.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora: 10:02pm On Feb 16
Omoh
It’s tiring what nlng be putting us through but I advice that you keep mailing them. Me I called too, I gave them no breathing space. I also reached out to SHL and they told me that it’s from nlng hence I need to contact them so the last mail I sent was me telling them that SHL said that it’s from their end. And that they need permission to do anything. Nlng still didn’t mail or reply me. But they reset my test… plus now they no longer at work, till 8:30 am

Conversations20:
Thank you for your response. I’ve mailed NLNG 3 times now but haven’t gotten a response still. What email did you use please? Let it not be that I’m using the wrong email.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora: 7:08pm On Feb 16
Encountered it yesterday… got locked out. Mailed but got no response. Today around 9 I mailed SHL again, spoke to their live agent but wasn’t getting a good response that mean they’d open it or something . I started to panic so I made an international call to SHL. They eventually told me what happened and asked me by to contact nlng
I sent them mail nothing less than 3 times before it got resolved and I took my test

Conversations20:
which day of the week did you encounter the issue
Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora: 6:27pm On Feb 16
I had but resolved now
I hope yours too has been Resolved

Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora: 11:49am On Feb 14
Fair enough, everyone shares to their comfort level. And just to clarify, no one pressured him or anyone to share… people were only asking generally. It was not until he was like repeatedly saying the questions were everywhere that others started to ask for it. Thanks for the tip though. The advice you gave is helpful

Plus I wish everyone the best. Signing out! ☺️

Anonby1:
General insight na to just practice from their practice assessment, it is unfair to expect him to just dish out info that might compromise him being selected especially since he feels he hasn't done to his expected capacity. What gave me the most trouble was solving as i was reading the questions this is probably the number one most important advice I can give anyone taking this test. Read the question then note general idea of how to solve what you are reading but don't start plotting till you read the entire question
Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by Nimora: 10:26am On Feb 14
I understand your point, but I still believe everyone’s performance is personal. Sharing general insight doesn’t reduce anyone’s chances. Who is prepared will still stand out... trust they will. I don’t see preparation as giving competitors an advantage. At the end of the day, performance is individual. True, SHL is norm-referenced, so scores are compared. But knowing the format doesn’t change someone’s ability. Performance still determines ranking. What determines ranking is still speed, accuracy, and reasoning ability. PERIODT!

airsaylongcome:
Forget those comments. I agitated for people who wrote before me to give “update” or “insight”. When I wrote my exam, I totally understood why they didn’t give any. The exam is ruthless and giving your competitors any kind of advantage over you is pure madness. No let anyone pressure you or allow the laughing and goading get to you. Shake it off like water off the back of a duck.

I am not interested in seeing questions, I think knowing the sections is enough for me. I just find it weird he keeps referencing questions leaking like it was leaked here or there is anything that can be done. It is expected for tests like this with elongated test dates.
