SEE DETAIL OF LETTER BELOW

RE: RECOGNITION OF LEO NKA

“I am comrade Ikechukwu Nwafor , the chairman of Nigerian labour congress Ebonyi state council and on behalf of the of the president of Nigeria labour congress Comrade (Dr) Ayuba P. “Mr Roy O.U. Nwaeze, be informed that in NLC we don’t ask for recognition through court rather we merit recognition through due process and NLC constitution have no provision for the Acting Chairman.

Crime / EBONYI: GRADUATION PARTIES TURN BLOODY IN ABAKALIKI(graphic photos) by nneamaka114: 12:38am On Nov 12, 2017
What were supposed to be celebration for successful graduation yesterday turned tragic as final year students of Ebonyi state University after writing their final examinations decided to celebrate with friends and relatives.
The merriment unfortunately metamorphosed into painting the town red with enough blood bath obviously as a result of drunkenness.
All night clubs and bars in Abakaliki, the state capital were filled to capacity and at a time like this any security conscious person should sense danger in the air.
One of the various unfortunate situations was experienced as a driver trying to reverse his vehicle ended up crashing through seated unsuspecting crowd cheerfully drinking and discussing in one of the night clubs. The car did not come to a halt until it had crushed the last table and chairs on its path sending the occupants scattered on the ground with broken bottles everywhere.
Several people were injured, with some rushed to the hospital immediately as a result of the crash. Ebonyi state Neighborhood watch invited alongside the Police team arrived the scene in good time to put a stop to the throwing of bottles by the angry crowd.
A team of Ebonyi Neighborhood watch was dispatched to the Federal Medical Center alongside a man with sever bottle wound on his head while another team rushed off to answer another distressed call that a van skidded off track around the Government Technical College, GTC,gate

Health / You Are Stronger Than Your Problems by nneamaka114: 12:59pm On Nov 06, 2017
Make up your mind that no matter what comes your way, no matter how difficult, no matter how unfair, you will do more than simply survive. You will thrive in spite of it.
Do not seek to be free of the problems. Work to be stronger than the problems.
A life with no problems would be a life with no opportunities for growth or achievement. That’s not what you want, and it is certainly not realistic.
In the real world there are difficult problems, and there will always be. Yet there are also countless possibilities for progress and true fulfillment.
D on’t waste your time fantasizing about a life free of problems. Instead, use your imagination and your efforts to transform those problems into positive value.
Embrace each situation as it is, along with all the problems. Accept that the problems exist, and you can then begin to successfully work through them.
Life will always be challenging in one way or another. So rise to the challenges and use your unique set of abilities to make life great.

“The obstacle in the path becomes the path. Never forget, within every obstacle is an opportunity to improve our condition”

Adversity is a reasonably simple concept. It’s an event, situation or thing that challenges you and makes life more difficult. It can vary in length, intensity or unpleasantness.
For some, it’s losing a parent. For others, it’s struggling with maths. Whatever it is, let’s start off by refusing to compare our situations to other people’s. It’s a pointless exercise.
I want to show you that you are stronger than your pain. You are greater than it. For two main reasons.

1. You are more than your pain.
2. You can become better because of your pain.

My goal is to show you that this needn’t be a silly platitude. It is not about reading a quote about overcoming adversity, feel invigorated for a fleeting moment, then continue to feel defeated by the misfortune life has offered.
I want you to believe this because it’s true.

Let’s admit that painful challenges life throws at us can really really suck. Ignoring that fact would be stupid. Yes, some things “aren’t that bad” when you put them into the perspective of other people or place them into the grandness of the universe. However, this misses an important point.
Some events are challenges and important ones because you’re experiencing them. Adversity might be the villain in your personal story. Does the existence of millions of other stories invalidate your own? Of course not. Continually dismissing problems as insignificant just prevents us from approaching them head on.
Adversity can not only feel like they’ve consumed you completely but actually consume you. They can be the only things on your mind for hours, days and weeks on end. Anyone who has faced a significant challenge knows exactly what this is like. Everything you do in your life comes back to this pain.
The pain just seems to last forever.
However, the first step to understanding why you are stronger than your pain is to understand that you are more than your pain.
What does this mean?
Pain is not the only part of our lives. Our pain plays a marvelous trick on all of us – it convinces us that the good in our day does not matter. Or worse yet, that good doesn’t exist at all.
This forces us to create unhelpful thinking habits which skew our ideas of reality negatively and create a vicious cycle of catastrophic thinking. An example of this is disqualifying the positive and over-generalising.

Politics / Kachikwu Versus Baru by nneamaka114: 11:26am On Oct 27, 2017
Since the news broke penultimate week ago of the memo to the President written by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu on August 30th 2017,raising sundry allegations against the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr Maikanti Baru; It has been a series of allegations and counter-allegations from the camp of both men with many Nigerians taking sides with one camp or the other. It is important that we understand what the issues are and what they are not before we pass judgement or support one camp or the other.

Dr Kachikwu raised three main issues in his memo. One, is that the GMD of NNPC unilaterally awarded contracts to the tune of $25 billion US Dollars without consulting the Board of NNPC. Two, that he ran a “bravado management” sidelining the Minister and the board. Three, is that he made appointments without consultation with the Minister or the Board. Nowhere in the memo did the Minister accuse Baru of corruption or allege that monies where missing as was the case during the Jonathan administration when the then Central Bank Governor and now Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi alleged that about $49 billion US Dollars realized from crude oil sales was not remitted into the Federation Account by the NNPC. That allegation by Sanusi was later proven to be true first by an International Audit firm engaged by the government of the day, and second by the corruption cases against Diezani Allison-Maduekwe, the Former Minister of Petroleum, Jide Omokore and Kola Aluko who are both Oil Moguls. Now having established that indeed no money is missing or was stolen, the GMD of NNPC went ahead to clarify the issue of the contracts. According to him, there was no release of money to the International Oil Companies that won the contracts as the IOC’s would source for the funds themselves and the share of the profits realized that pertains to the Federal Government would be paid directly into the Federation Account.

The real substance in all the allegations of Dr Kachikwu against Dr Baru is that due process was not followed by the GMD and also his alleged insurbodination to the Minister. The GMD has defended himself by saying he acted in line with the NNPC Act, the NNPC Handbook and the Public Procurement of 2007, which vests the power to award contracts and make critical appointments in the NNPC with the NNPC Tenders Board of which the GMD is Chairman, the Minister of Petroleum Resources which happens to be the President and the Federal Executive Council. However, we must also not fail to note that there are gaps in the NNPC Act which stakeholders in the oil industry have argued would only be solved with the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill. One of the many gaps is that there is no mention of the Minister of State for Petroleum in the Act. That means that Kachikwu has now become like a “spare tyre"who will only work when the President wants him to work as the President is the substantive Minister of Petroleum and Baru claimed he got all approvals from him which he ( the President) is yet to refute.

Both Kachikwu and Baru are experienced technocrats who know their jobs and have made meaningful impact in the Petroleum Industry. Kachikwu as the GMD of NNPC helped resolve the problem of Joint Venture Cash Calls. He has also helped to influence the extension of exemption of Nigeria from the production cap by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. Baru on the other hand was the Former Chairman of the NNPC Anti-Corruption Committee. He has also helped to not only ensure unhindered petroleum product supply for all Nigerians but has also commenced exploration efforts in the Frontier Basins especially those in the North, the most recent being the Sokoto Basin.

The President should call Kachikwu and Baru and resolve the matter amicably. He should establish a chain of command taking cognizance of Kachikwu’s office and delegate some of his powers to Kachikwu. The National Assembly should also expedite action on the passage of the PIB bill so as to avoid crisis of this nature in the future.

Politics / End Of The Road For Ipob by nneamaka114: 2:23am On Oct 17, 2017
The recent insult of Dr Ojiuzor Kalu is certainly the last straw that has broken the back of the proscribed organization IPOB by erasing the little sympathy enjoyed from some Nigerians.
People dropped all sentiments for IPOB and distanced from anybody who associates with them since it became obvious they have no interest or respect for the lives and properties of Ndigbo they claimed to be fighting for.
Often on Nigerian streets we see people come to seek attention. People must definitely give you their ears with rapt attention not because you are making sense but they want to deduce sense from your presence and take a stand.
At a point the eagerness to understand you will call for people around to be asked to be quite so you could be heard while some people that are conversant with such situations will be impatient to let you continue after hearing just few words from you.
Your time is fast expiring if you fail to quickly make your point as people want to move on. Soon, the crowd will thin out gradually. The people leaving will meet others rushing to the scene to know what the crowd was about.
“What is the matter with him”?
The comment of those leaving will determine if anybody will still come to listen.
It will be confirmed to the people that it is a case of insanity when the center of attention starts rebuking some of the people in the crowd who nervously want to know why he was seeking public attention.
Some people will ask him embarrassing questions while some may insult him for not making sense to them, his response which will be an out pour of his sanity, mission and sincerity of purpose will make or mar him.
He has reached his waterloo should he target one of the people calling for silence “that he may be heard and understood” in his insult if insult is his chosen line of reaction.
Usually, stake holders in the community are mostly attracted by such situations and they are quick to ask for audience from the crowd so that the issue may be understood and resolved quickly before it will degenerate. In most cases people call to inform them of such developments and implore them to “intercede before it gets out of hand”.
Soon the protagonist will stand alone talking and passerby will wonder why nobody was standing there. They will simply look at him, look around , seeing nobody was interested as nobody seem to be listening, they will concluding “na mad man, condition too hard this one don kolo this Buhari Government self” (depending on who was the President at the time in question. Nigerian leaders are good at making some people kolo because we are good at choosing kolo distributors as leaders)
After a while the people in the neighborhood knowing that there are no sympathizers especially as the strong and vital support have been insulted out of his way, will simply ask him to get out of their community because they now find his presence disturbing. Some will simply want the front of their business premises freed wile some will call out for him or her to be lynched because what they understood is clear confession of a ritualist, witch or wizard while others will conclude “na 419 all this tif them” and want him banished from that community.
The resistance to his continuous stay in the community will be too strong for him no matter his level of insanity.
Should his response to the people agitate their minds to accept him as honest, the stake holders will disperse the crowd take him away from that spot ask if he needed something to eat or drink and go about deliberating on his situation. Yes, Nigerians are that good.
Here are few reminders for IPOB
That people respect the entrepreneurships of the Igbo man is because some Igbos gave credence to it. Otherwise the Igbo Man could as well have been written off as a market man. The direction of admiration for the Igbo man was made by the products of the Igbo nation in the persons of Sir Lewis Ojukwu, Ekenne Dilichukwu Motors, De young shall Grow and many others including Dr Ojiuzor Kalu who when younger than the current age of most IBOP leaders was not operating from his father’s compound but his Industrial Estates.
He never abandoned Nigeria to pick up other national identities but was getting National award. Instead of taking advantage of the poor Igboman frustrated by unstable business environments occasioned at that time by unstable Government he rather started a revolution that created an army of business men he never met and never talked to directly and may never meet. Dr Ojiuzor Kalu turned some street Generals of yesterday to Captains of industries that their children may never be on the street. Yours sincerely is one of them.
It is called inspiring for ease of understanding.
Everybody can go wrong easily before them but Dr Ujiozor Kanu cannot be accepted to be wrong in a hurry. He must truly be wrong to be accepted to be wrong.
These people are mostly Igbos, you can be bought over but they are above money. The reason you may not have known these people do exist is that they hate the publicity you love and they live in the future because of their knowledge of the past. Because they lived on the streets and the hostility of the street knows no tribe, they do not see a country, they see people. When they speak you feel love because people are beautiful. When you talk we feel hate because to you people are tools to be used to actualize your dreams
Dr Kalu may have been wrong or we may have been disappointed when he joined the Nigerian Politics. An industrially minded man is a clean man, coming to dirty Nigerian Political environment should have been a heart break but again it’s Ojiuzor Kalu. He may have considered the country to need industrial direction from an industrial Guru. Don’t count on this reason, it’s just because it’s about the youthful light that inspired the youths of the days in question to greatness not to destruction.
This time Dr Kalu without sentiment is right.
He stood by you and Ndigbo even when obviously you were misleading the poor children trying to put their lives together.
Insulting somebody who is interested in saving the lives and properties of Igbos is a clear frustration that the loss of lives and property of Ndigbo would have helped you make your point that “they are killing us” did you tell him you wanted to blackmail Nigeria with Namdi Kanu’s where about? If you did was he in agreement that it was the right thing to do? Or are we all genuinely concerned about his where about while you know better?
Even when you do not believe that Dr Ojiuzor Kalu is clean, he certainly cannot play in your league, therefore there was no reason to tackle him unless the peace of the Igbo people in the North and West which he determinedly stood for frustrated you.
It’s no secret that you do not want the realization of BIAFRA. You want Igbos to die to make your point,
That Nigeria will burn when you are arrested means disturb Hausa and Yoruba that they may in retaliation disturb the Igbos (you claim to be fighting for).
But did it happen? North and West have shown you how intelligent they are and how people can grow.
You called us to come home they asked us to leave before 1 October BUT WE BEGGED TO STAY. Do you understand that?
It’s not too late to reverse your Biafra of hate and move on. Biafra is the name God has placed above every name in Africa. It is a sanctuary of peace for a peaceful, loving, creative and accommodating Igbo people. Biafra was not created because of the hate of the Igbo man but because of the hate for the Igbo man.
One question for you Mr IPOB,
Have you ever asked yourself who really owns the land you called a Zoo? If you are a real Jew, are you buying over the lands of the Palestinians or you want to run out of the land your fathers said you will possess beyond West Africa and millions of people died when you tried to abandon your heritage.
My Biafra for the Igbos has been realized if you can add 1+1 but I do not see how your Niger Delta Biafra will be realized.
Your sin is unforgivable by a mere mortal, you taunted a sleeping Cobra it woke as even the zoo or animal kingdom has its rules, you then invited the innocent lamb to face the Cobra you deliberately invited.
The cobra would have made you a meal without the knowledge of anybody. But a ceremonial dance is to let the other animals in your zoo understand that they should not feel intimidated because the law of the forest will protect them. When masquerade dances innocently what will happen when children starts throwing stones at it is not what we can imagine in a peaceful moment. May the precious souls of the children you perished rest in peace while you struggle to find peace of mind on Earth.

Health / The Link Between Depression And Anxiety by nneamaka114: 10:29am On Oct 04, 2017
They’re two separate illnesses – but they often go hand in hand. According to a study by Nicholas C. Jacobson and Michelle G. Newman, previous research suggests that between 16-50% of people with a depressive disorder also have an anxiety disorder. This may be because the two conditions share some of the same symptoms according to the NHS, like having trouble concentrating or feeling worried – although anxiety often manifests in an abundance of energy, while depression often shows as lethargy. But why else? ‘They are flip sides of the same coin,’ therapist Geraldine Joaquim at Quest Hypnotherapy tells metro.co.uk. ‘Effectively we are all pre-programmed to fall back on these two conditions (as well as anger) from way back in our caveman days. They helped keep our ancestors safe.’ Depression was an energy conserver when cavemen/women couldn’t go out to hunt, and anxiety kept hunters aware of predators. Our primitive brain kicks back in with these feelings when we’re having a crisis.

‘The good news is we can control these feelings if we understand them,’ says Geraldine. ‘The first step towards making any change is understanding what we are changing and then putting stepping stones in place to get there, not trying to achieve huge change in one go.’ Most people I know who have depression also have anxiety, so I wanted to ask a few different people about their relationship with the two, to see it from a perspective other than my own. I’ll also be sharing my own story. I’ve never gone into detail about my mental health publicly before, but it’d pretty douche-y of me to expect other people to share without doing the same.

Eve, 28
‘I’ve dealt with anxiety since my childhood, which manifested itself as OCD that came to a head in my mid 20s. ‘By that point my days, and especially my free time, were largely structured around checking and counting. I could feel my world getting smaller and smaller with every new check that came into my life, while the reasons to not leave the house by myself were growing all the time. ‘It was, however, relatively easy to hide these symptoms from everyone I knew. ‘I remember having to step out of work to be interviewed by my GP about it, and later opening up to some colleagues about the call – they thought I was making an excuse for having a job interview! ‘When I was later diagnosed with severe anxiety, it actually brought a bit of relief to see it in writing and on paper. ‘My depression, on the other hand, surfaced in a totally different way, during my first winter away from home, when I was living in halls at university. I found this an incredibly hard period to get through, with little support structure in London and my family so far away.

‘My depression took over everything. I did not answer calls from friends, or leave my room, or go anywhere or want to do anything. I lost a lot of weight and basically felt like no one wanted to be around me and nowhere was home. I thought I was just homesick and felt a lot of pressure to get out and enjoy being at university and in a new city, and that certainly made it worse. ‘Over the years, my depression subsided as I was able to make some great friends in London and settle down to a routine – and this is when my OCD came back – a different version of what I had dealt with in my childhood and teens. ‘When I turned 25 I signed up for CBT and was very, very lucky to have a brilliant counselor. ‘Within a year of signing up, I was able to completely cut out my OCD checks and really bring my anxiety down to a manageable amount. ‘It was also one of the toughest things I’ve ever done mentally, and beginning to pick away at my anxiety made me really, deeply depressed. ‘Thankfully I was told to stay in work and keep up with a routine, which was amazing advice and I think it saved me from being far worse. ‘Without the structure my OCD had given me, I found it much harder to organise my anxiety. But over time, I felt myself unfurl from this state of being constantly braced for the worst, and was able to start really seeing the benefit of a life without anxiety being a major player, and thankfully my depression subsided along with it. ‘I now love that the hours I used to spend checking over everything can now be spent on things I actually love doing with my time, like seeing friends and family. I used to make a lot of my decisions based on appeasing my anxiety, whereas now I get to make them for me. ‘I’m 28 now. I do not think of myself as someone who has OCD, but I do think of myself as someone who is susceptible to anxiety and also someone who can be depressed. ‘I use the help I picked up in CBT every day. From never, ever, touching wood again for good luck, to not having a lucky number. It also means when I can see a tough time approaching, I also make sure I give myself a bit of break. I think it’s easy advice to shrug off but being my own best friend is what helped me most.’

Oli, 35 ‘I was diagnosed bipolar in 2012 but I started having symptoms in my early 20s. It was only after a bad suicidal patch that I went to the doctors, so I suffered for 9 years. And just hid it. I blamed it on all sorts of physical illness because I had to have so much time off work. People must have thought I was a massive hypochondriac! ‘I don’t know whether my anxiety is random or connected to my bipolar – it’s not a definitive thing with me. I think my anxiety’s worse when I’m depressed as I overthink more and have constant negative thoughts running through my mind. ‘However, I’ve also had anxiety issues when I’ve not been depressed, and seemed relatively stable – that’s when it really comes out the blue. Massively unpleasant. ‘I’m a tennis coach and my worst ever anxiety attack was when I was coaching on the tennis court. I thought I was having a heart attack as I’d never experienced such severe symptoms of anxiety before. I had to take myself off home and take a couple of days off work. ‘I take lithium and quetiapine for my bipolar and have diazepam to help me sleep. I have it in my bag just in case I have an anxiety attack as it takes the edge off it, but I try not to take it in the day as it makes me woozy and I don’t want to dampen my enthusiasm and my energy for my job as a tennis coach. I need to be energetic and encouraging and that doesn’t go hand in hand with diazepam. ‘I’ve had counselling and CBT which has helped to a certain degree but I find it difficult to implement if I’m very depressed, as I’m not thinking rationally ‘Since my diagnosis, I’ve had manic phases and depressive phases though I’m not sure I’ll ever truly get to grips with knowing if I’m depressed or if I’ve just had a rubbish day. Humans can’t be happy all of the time, you’re going to go through difficult periods in your life where you’re upset and you cry and you’re angry. ‘There are certain coping mechanisms in place and exercise is huge in that. I ran the marathon for Movember this year, and after that I started taking my running more seriously. I’m currently training with a friend of mine four times a week to do the Manchester half marathon and that has helped me hugely keeping it going. ‘I’ve always known that running has helped both my anxiety and depression, but it can be tough to keep up when you feel sh*tty. You’ve just got to make sure you try and keep it up as much as you can because everything seems to subside. ‘I still have the odd bad day – as everybody else does – but that’s just life isn’t it? You have good days and bad days and learn to not panic that anything is wrong – but that’s much easier to get a handle on that when I’m fit, sleeping well, eating well and not drinking very much. Just because you’re doing all these things doesn’t mean that a mental health issue is going to go away, but you give yourself a better chance. ‘My dad took his own life through suicide and I am determined to not let that happen to me.’ Oli is a Movember ambassador – head here for more male mental health info. (Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk) Vicky, 36 ‘I’ve suffered on and off with depression since I was a teen, but I think I’d always felt like I was reveling in my angst a bit, as if it was a little bit affected. However, that changed when I had a massive breakdown about 10 years ago and was signed off work with anxiety and depression. ‘I felt like something had snapped completely in my head and I didn’t know how to function. At the time I was in a good job and went to the gym regularly but then things just started to crumble for me. ‘Initially I was signed off work for a week and went back; they were very good and let me do reduced hours, sometimes just 2 hours a day, for a few weeks. But then my manager practically begged me to go to the GP and get signed off because he was so worried about me. ‘I just didn’t know how to get through the day. It was like I was just waiting for the next time marker: waiting for time to go to work, then waiting for time to go to the break room, then waiting for lunch time, then walking around town waiting for it to be time to go back to work, waiting for home time, getting home and waiting for bed time. It was like torture because I didn’t sleep when I went to bed either! ‘I was off work for a month, with weekly sick notes so that I had to check in with both my GP and my manager every Friday, and went back on phased return after that but I just couldn’t cope and they let me take voluntary redundancy with almost immediate garden leave so then I was off work for my entire notice period – about three months I think. ‘I actually never went back to work full time; I worked in a pub for a while and then got a job working four days a week in an office, and then I had my daughter. ‘I’d never suffered with anxiety until I had a breakdown, and then I started having panic attacks, where I had a constant inability to catch my breath. They went away as I began to recover from the breakdown and I’ve been lucky not to have had them much since. ‘When I first started to go a bit wobbly they gave me Prozac and it made me ten times worse; I stopped eating or sleeping. I went back and they switched me over to Zoloft but I had to have a week off medication in the middle and during that week I went properly crazy. I don’t even remember much of it but I was not at all well. I flew to Spain and fully intended to kill myself while I was there. After a while they increased my Zoloft dosage, and I think I was on it for a couple of years. ‘I stopped my medication when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 6 years ago and my GP was very concerned about it. All through my pregnancy every health professional I spoke to mentioned that after the first 12 weeks I could go back on the medication if I wanted. ‘Once I’d had my daughter I think I must have been flagged as high risk for post-natal depression, because I got a lot of attention while I was in hospital, and the medication was offered to me numerous times up until my daughter was a few months old. ‘I did struggle during that time but (perhaps pig headedly) I was determined to continue breastfeeding my daughter, and not to pass mind-altering chemicals to her in my milk, I never went back onto them. In fact, I think the fact everyone was so worried about me getting post-natal depression made me more determined to take really good care of myself. ‘I increased my supplements and made sure I went out for a 10k walk every single morning, no matter how rubbish I felt. I think that routine dragged me through what was a very difficult time for me as I became a single mother before my daughter was a month old too, and now I’m a parent I really can’t afford to be anywhere near as bad as I was before. ‘I’ve had ups and downs but I’m much more aware of how my mood is and take preventative measures to ensure it doesn’t get too bad. These days I make sure I take a good quality multivitamin every day but more importantly fish oils, which I am sure are the reason I’ve managed to stay sane through a rather stressful time. ‘I never really found the counselling offered by my local community mental health team any good any way, but I do think writing my blog helps, and reaching out on social media when I’m feeling isolated can be useful too. ‘Since my breakdown, I’ve worked really hard on my mental health to ensure it doesn’t happen again. ‘At the time I felt like I’d hit rock bottom and there was no way out; I couldn’t see how I would ever live a normal life again but now I feel like it’s one of the best things that could have happened to me because I appreciate what I have so much more now.’

Health / Eating Less Meat In Pregnancy ‘linked To Drink And Drug Problems’ by nneamaka114: 10:15am On Oct 04, 2017
Children whose mothers did not eat meat during pregnancy are more likely to drink and use drugs, new research could indicate. A study found 15-year-olds in Britain were almost twice as likely to indulge in underage drinking and smoking if their mothers did not eat meat – linked to a deficiency in vitamin B12. They were also nearly three times as likely to be using cannabis, compared to children of women who ate meat daily while expecting. There are many drawbacks to eating a diet rich in meat, such as a link to bowel cancer. And the study has not found a definitive link, as the findings were ‘disproportionally’ affected by women who had a gene causing deficiency of vitamin B12. But lead author of the study Dr Joseph Hibbeln, a nutritional neuroscientist at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, Maryland, said: ‘We found higher scores on the maternal ‘vegetarian’ dietary pattern during pregnancy were associated with greater likelihoods of substance misuse among their 15-year-old offspring.’

‘He said one way for vegetarian mums to counter this could be taking supplements of vitamin B12, found naturally in large amounts in beef and lamb. The findings, published in Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research, indicate that adding vegetarian sources of vitamin B12 to foods may help make sure nutritional needs are met.

Dr Hibbeln and colleagues followed more than 5,000 British women and discovered a link between less frequent consumption of meat during pregnancy and more alcohol, cannabis and cigarette use among their teenage offspring. Vitamin B12 is essential for the body to metabolise folic acid, a nutrient vital for the development of a healthy foetus. Dr Hibbeln said reducing meat consumption is often advised, but inadvertent nutritional deficiencies during pregnancy can affect development of the baby’s brain.

Participants in the the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC), based at the University of Bristol, provided food frequency questionnaire data from which dietary patterns were derived. Alcohol, cannabis and tobacco use of the children was evaluated once they had reached 15 years of age. Dr Hibbeln said: ‘Lower maternal meat consumption was associated with greater problematic substance use among 15 year old offspring in dose response patterns.’ He said that in general, a vegetarian diet is associated with improved health among adults.

But avoiding nutrient dense meats can reduce intake of vitamin B12, iron, omega-3 fatty acids, selenium and zinc, particularly in young women of childbearing age. Vitamin B12 is mainly available from meats and shellfish and up to 62 per cent of vegetarians are deficient in this nutrient during pregnancy. Dr Hibbeln said: ‘Among Western populations, infants of vitamin B12 deficient mothers have poor brain growth, developmental regression, irritability, thrive poorly and demonstrate residual deficits in cognitive and social development.’

He added: ‘This study identifies low meat consumption in the prenatal period as potentially modifiable risk factor for adolescent substance use. ‘In identifying vitamin B12 insufficiencies as highly likely to have a contributing role to our findings, greater meat consumption need not be advised to modify this risk. ‘For example, fortification of foods with vegetarian sources of cobalamin and more widespread use of supplements may be low cost and readily feasible interventions.’

Crime / Ex-wife Of "Psychopath" Who Was Raped 900 Times And Electrocuted Says She Surviv by nneamaka114: 12:41pm On Oct 02, 2017
The ex-wife of a “psychopath” who raped her 900 times has told how she narrowly escaped death.
Kathleen McMurchie was brutalised by Brian McTaggart for six years in which she received frequent horrific abuse.
Last month, McTaggart, 53, was found guilty of sexual and physical abuse against 18 victims.
He will be sentenced in November after he was convicted of raping three women, indecently assaulting teenage girls and boys and physically abusing other women and teenagers in Dundee over 21 years.
Kathleen, who has waived her right to anonymity, said: “It is sheer luck that he didn’t kill me or someone else. He is a psychopath.”
When she met him, she found him funny – “the life and soul of the party”
After a year together, when she was three months’ pregnant, they married, the Daily Recordreports.
His abuse began the day after their wedding andhe ordered her to bring him tea.
She laughed, thinking he was joking, but he told her: “You belong to me now. You do what you are told.”
When she refused, he dragged her by the hair, through to the bedroom, threw her on the bed and raped her.
When he had finished, he stood up and told her: “Now make my f****** tea.”
Kathleen said: “There had been no sign that he was a violent man.
“I was in shock. I couldn’t believe what had just happened. I had been raped and was black and blue. It seemed unbelievable to me.”
As she sat sobbing, McTaggart told her: “Shut up or I’ll give you something to cry about.”
Days later, he raped her again in what marked the beginning of a prolonged campaign of violence.
That same week they married, he lifted her off her feet and laughed as he held her over a four-storey balcony.
She said: “I looked down and thought I was going to die. It was terrifying.
“Then, when he felt like it, he put me down and beat me.”
When McTaggart went out, he locked Kathleen in the house. She was imprisoned with no hope of escape.
As well as raping her at least twice a week, the brutality and psychological torture was relentless.
When she was seven months’ pregnant and having a bath, he came home, plugged a hairdryer into an extension cable and dangled it over her head.
He taunted her, saying: “Look what I have for you,” and despite being heavily pregnant, she flew out of the bath as the hairdryer splashed into the water.
Kathleen said: “I heard the splash just as my feet touched the floor. A few seconds later and my baby and I would have been dead.”
In another attack, McTaggart strangled Kathleen until she passed out.
She came round to see him frantically slapping her face, panicking that he had killed her.
He flew into a rage when she came round, accusing her of playing dead.
Then he beat her worse than before, kicking her body and punching her in the head.
Over time, McTaggert’s cruelty ground Kathleen down until she was numbed and depressed.
She said: “I used to lock myself in the toilet and stare at the razor blades.
“I thought death was my only escape – but I couldn’t leave my children.”
McTaggart even told her that if she killed herself, he would go to a seance and continue the torture.
One night as they drove along a country road, he turned to her and told her he was going to kill her.
He sped along the road, gripping her with one hand and steering with the other as she opened the door and tried to jump out.
Then he swerved head-on into a pole. As Kathleen sat shaking from the shock, he reversed the car and told her he would do it again – then smashed into a fence.
He threw her out on the road and as she staggered in the dark, he sped the car towards her, missing her by inches.
Like most abusers, McTaggart was a despicable coward and made her sleep closest to the door in case they were burgled.
Bizarrely, he lined shoes up against the bottom of the bedroom door so he could tell if she had been up in the night.
In the morning, she was often in terrible pain because she hadn’t even been able to use the toilet.
She did find the courage to try to leave him and one night called the police – but it was the 80s and they weren’t sympathetic as they are now.
Officers told her to lock herself in the flat with her three children but when she refused to let McTaggart in, he accessed the loft through the close and set it alight.
As the smoke seeped into her home, she was compelled to open the door and he grabbed her keys and put out the fire. He then beat her for calling the police.
She said: “I didn’t care any more whether I lived or died. I felt I would never get away from him.”
But then Kathleen met William, a man who not only helped her to escape but brought her happiness as her future husband.
McTaggart was scared to confront William and she escaped his clutches.
The couple have been together for 28 years and he is a kind, decent man.
Kathleen was contacted by police investigating McTaggart’s serial brutality and she agreed to give evidence to end to his reign of terror.
But she said: “Even in court, I was frightened he would escape the dock and attack me.”
She is satisfied that McTaggart now faces a lengthy sentence when he appears in court next month.
She said: “He should never be released. He is a dangerous man with no conscience who could easily kill someone. I am just glad that he can’t hurt anyone else now.” continued unabated in the years to come.
On their first full day of marriage, they were in the living room when

Crime / Dhq Declares Ipob A Terrorist Organisation by nneamaka114: 5:55pm On Sep 15, 2017
The Defence Headquarters has branded the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a “militant terrorist organisation’’ and urged parents to dissuade their wards from joining the group.
In a statement in Abuja on Friday, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, the Director, Defence Information (DDI), therefore, restated the commitment of the Armed Forces to confront “all security challenges facing the country.’’
Enenche also assured of the protection of lives and property in all parts of the country by the military.
He said that the IPOB posed security challenge and had been metamorphosing from one stage to another.
“After due professional analysis and recent developments, it has become expedient to notify the general public that the claim by IPOB actors that the organisation is non-violent is not true.
“Hence, the need to bring to public awareness the true and current state of IPOB.
“In this regard, some of their actions, clandestinely and actively, that have been terrorising the general public include: “The formation of a Biafra Secret Service, claimed formation of Biafra National Guard, unauthorised blocking of public access roads and extortion of money from innocent civilians at illegal road blocks.
“Militant possession and use of weapons (stones, molotov cocktails, machetes and broken bottles, among others) on a military patrol on Sept. 10, 2017.
“Physical confrontation of troops by Nnamdi Kanu and other IPOB actors at a check point on Sept. 11, 2017 and also attempt to snatch their rifles.
“Attack by IPOB members on a military check point on Sept. 12, 2017, at Isialangwa, where one IPOB actor attempted to snatch a female soldier’s rifle.’’
“From the foregoing, the Armed Forces of Nigeria wish to confirm to the general public that IPOB from all intent, plan and purpose as analysed, is a militant terrorist organisation,’’ the DDI said.

Crime / How Catholic Priest Was Kidnapped, Murdered In Imo by nneamaka114: 8:30am On Sep 04, 2017
Fear has gripped Imo indigenes, following the increasing level of criminality in the state

The latest victim is a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Cyriacus Onunkwo, who was on September 1, 2017, abducted and killed in cold blood.
Investigations revealed that in the evening of the same day, about 7pm, the newly ordained younger brother of Rev. Fr. Jude Udokwu, was somewhere close to Mbara Okporo with his friend, when some gunmen suspected to be kidnappers attacked them. Although the priest escaped by the whiskers, it was, however, gathered that his car was riddled with bullets. It was also gathered that the same armed group struck shortly after at Nkwoito. It was at this point, it was gathered, that Fr. Onunkwo was kidnapped.

It was also gathered that the deceased priest came home to make arrangements for the burial of his father who died last Monday. An eye-witness account at the scene of the incident said “the kidnap victim looked very much like a priest,” but could not at the time, properly identify who he was. When the police, who were working with Rev. Fr. Christopher Ihenetu came to the scene, they saw the abandoned Toyota Corolla car, searched it and found an envelope with Fr. Onunkwo’s name on it. It was equally gathered that with this recovery, Fr. Ihenetu started making enquiries and later discovered through the help of Fr. Udem and Fr. Ukoha that Fr. Onunkwo actually came home to arrange for his father’s burial and was staying at Fr. Udem’s place. It was further discovered that the Toyota Corolla car abandoned at the scene of the crime belonged to Fr. Onunkwo. Police confirm devt Confirming the incident in a telephone chat, yesterday, the state Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr. Chris Ezike, said the priest’s corpse had been recovered. “The matter was properly reported to the police and we went into action. Less than 24 hours after, the Orsu Divisional Police Officer, DPO, reported the discovery of an abandoned corpse in its area of jurisdiction,” Ezike said. According to the Imo police boss, priests of Orlu Catholic Diocese were called in immediately and they identified the corpse as their priest. No arrests have so far been made, but CP Ezike said that the police are still working to find the abductors of the priest.

Sports / Arsenal Reject Liverpool’s Opening £30million Bid For Alex Oxlade-chamberlain by nneamaka114: 12:30pm On Aug 30, 2017
The 24-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his contract and has told Arsene Wenger he is determined to seek a fresh challenge.

Wenger has maintained all summer that the England international is not for sale but his sub-par performance in Sunday’s drubbing at Anfield appears to have changed the Arsenal manager’s stance.
The Gunners accepted a £40m offer from Chelsea on Tuesday, but the player is said to have snubbed a move to the Premier League champions, unhappy with the idea of competing with Victor Moses for the role of right wing-back

Oxlade-Chamberlain is said to, instead, have his heart set on a move to Liverpool to play under Jurgen Klopp in the belief he has a genuine chance of cementing a role in his preferred central midfield position.
It now remains to be seen whether or not Liverpool return with an improved bid ,or wait until next summer when they will be able to land the former Southampton star on a free transfer.

Crime / British Tourist Found Dead After Falling From A Hotel Window by nneamaka114: 4:47pm On Aug 28, 2017
The body of Maxine Missick, 23, was found by a motorcyclist at 5.30am on Friday after she’d checked into the Lee Gardens Plaza Hotel on the Saneha Nusorn, in Hat Yai, on August 21.

The motorbike taxi rider said he heard her body hit the ground and medics confirmed she had suffered major injuries, including suspected neck and back damage.
Ms Missick, who was studying at Keele University in Stoke on Trent, had been due to return to the UK today and was staying on the 31st floor. Police have ruled out foul play and believe she committed suicide or accidentally fell. But some of her friends, including Tom Kayzee who went university with her, are not convinced.
‘The last time I chatted with her was 24th August – she was okay and she loved it there,’ Ms Kayzee said.
‘I just wanted to know that she was okay and the news reported that the possibilities of her committed suicide is wrong.
‘[The Maxine] that we know of is a lovely and cheerful girl who always smile. Always adventurous, beautiful soul and well mannered.’ Another pal, Romeo Simpson, added: ‘I don’t believe it suicide they need to do more investigation.’
Jenniflor Louis was also finding hard to come to terms with her friend’s death and said: ‘I still don’t want to believe it was suicide, even though they have no evidence of foul play an investigation of the situation and room needs to be done.’
Inspector General Sornpet Tantiamonchaikul from the Hat Yai Police Department said officers were still waiting for the results of a post mortem examination before ruling on the official cause of death.
He said: ‘Police were notified by the rescue foundation about the accident involving the British tourist Maxine Missick. She was staying alone in the room. Our investigation showed she checked in on August 21.
‘In the room there was no damage or signs of violence. There are no suspicions or investigations into foul play or another person being involved.
‘A window was open. We believe she either committed suicide by jumping or she fell accidentally. Ms Missick was originally from the British overseas territories of Turks and Caicos near the Bahamas.

Religion / Ask In Faith, And Receive. by nneamaka114: 2:15pm On Aug 26, 2017
GRACEVINE DEVOTIONAL

James 1:6-7 KJV
But let him ASK in faith, NOTHING WAVERING. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. [7] For let not that man think that he shall RECEIVE any thing of the Lord.

Prayer becomes very frustrating when there seems to be no answer. After a while, most people give up and stop praying altogether. Though there are many types of prayer, the most common is the prayer of petition. This prayer focuses on asking God for intervention and need supply.

The key to this prayer is ASKING. The Greek word used here connects asking with your desire or crave. This means that heartfelt commitment to what you truly need must be involved. According to Apostle James in our text above, you cannot be wavering in what you truly want. This means that your desire must be clear and certain as you pray.

Most people pray but eventually end up not asking even when they have a need. How do I know? Because Jesus confirms that IF anyone asks, they shall RECEIVE what they asked for.

“For EVERY ONE that asketh receiveth”. What do you receive? WHATEVER you ask for in prayer.!

Most people’s prayers have been shaped by wrong religious beliefs that hinder their receiving. Here are a few examples.

#1. WE MUST NOT PRAY FOR OUR MATERIAL NEEDS SINCE GOD KNOWS ABOUT THEM.

Jesus NEVER taught that we shouldn’t pray for needs. In Matthew 6, He was merely speaking against worrying over needs thus becoming preoccupied with them. He taught that unbelieving gentiles are the ones who live like this because they have no confidence in their gods but for us, it’s different. Factually, our Father can feed birds and cloth grasses, we therefore shouldn’t worry over those things. All we need do is ASK, then believe we receive.

Matthew 21:22 KJV
And ALL THINGS, whatsoever ye shall ASK in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

If you notice from the text above, what you ask for is all THINGS. Things include material needs. Just know what you want, ask in Faith, believe you’ve been heard and leave it to God.

#2. GOD WILL ONLY GIVE YOU WHAT HE THINKS YOU DESERVE.
Nothing can be farther from the truth than this. God gives you exactly what you desire and pray about, otherwise it is NOT a prayer answered.

“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, HOW MUCH MORE shall your Father which is in heaven GIVE GOOD THINGS to them THAT ASK HIM?” (Matthew 7:11)

If what you get is not what you prayed for, then that is NOT your answer. Wait, because God promises that EVERY ONE that asks, receives. If you ask for a shirt and you receive a tie, that cannot be the answer to your prayer. Thank God for the tie but wait for your REAL answer.

#3. GOD WILL ONLY ANSWER IF WHAT YOU PRAYED FOR IS HIS WILL.

This again is a wrong attitude and approach to prayer. Religion teaches this and God’s people believe it. If God only answers prayers that are in accordance with His Will, then why should I bother to pray? In that case, I’ll simply pray “Let your will be done” and wait. But Jesus it was who said ” Ask and ye shall receive that your joy may be full” (John 16:24). This means that full joy is associated with receiving exactly what I ask for in prayer.
No normal child will ask his Dad for something that will hurt him, except of course babies. In the same way, I believe no Christian will be praying for help to indulge in sin.
That been said, praying for legitimate needs cannot be said to be sinful. The following Bible text is often cited and interpreted erroneously to support the belief that you only get what God wills.

1 John 5:14-15 KJV
And this is the CONFIDENCE that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing ACCORDING TO HIS WILL, he heareth us: [15] And if we know that he hear us whatsoever we ask, we know THAT WE HAVE the petitions that we DESIRED of him.

Based on the promises we’ve examined and scores of others that confirm that WHAT you ask for is what you’ll receive, these Bible verses in 1 John seem contradictory. This is because if we go by their traditional interpretation, our answers only come when they tally with God’s will in prayer. But God never contradicts His Word. The problem is with the interpretation based on the wrong insertion of the commas and full stop.

When read as written below, the true meaning of that verse will become clearer and harmonize with other texts on prayer answer.

“....if we ask any thing, according to His will, He heareth us”. (1 John 5:14)

This simply means that it is GOD’S WILL TO HEAR PRAYERS. He therefore hears our prayers because it is His character to hear prayers.

Even the Old Testament folks knew that God is a prayer hearing God.

Psalm 65:2 KJV
O thou that HEAREST PRAYER, unto thee shall all flesh come.

Therefore 1 John 5:14 is NOT a condition but simply encouragement for us to pray because it is God’s will to hear and answer.

In 1 John 5:14, the “confidence” that we have in Him is translated in the Greek as “Freedom of speech”. This means we can ask boldly and without restraint believing God hears and answers. Hallelujah!!!

Please go ahead and ask God for your desire now. Do not be afraid, God will hear you. His love for you is more than your mistakes.

Shalom Beloved.
Ken Okotcha.

I am an expression of the Divine!

Romance / What Is It Like To Lose Someone You Never Had? by nneamaka114: 10:00am On Aug 26, 2017
You have spent days together, having absurd and endless
conversations…weaving silly dreams about career, personal life but it
all ends abruptly and now you are on your own, dealing with the mess
you created. Never in your wildest dreams did it strike you that it
would turn into something as sad as a weird oblivion. Now you both
exist, but not in each other’s life. The other person has cut the
cord, has moved on with someone and all you have is those memories
when you were at your happiest self. You keep reading those texts you
exchanged and most often, you help up shedding tear over a
conversation you had with the person, you loved. When someone comes to
your life, makes you happy and put in efforts to ensure that you have
a smile intact, you tend to start believing that this would be your
“infinity”. It doesn’t matter if you both have officially declared
your feelings because you were so sure that it is slowly turning into
something beautiful. You have some plans but sometimes maybe its
destiny that gives you an abrupt shock and the person you wanted to be
yours, is no longer yours. Your world crashes and all beautiful dreams
you were building in your head, it all bites the dust.
WHY DOES IT HAPPEN? HOW DOES IT FEEL TO LOSE SOMEONE YOU NEVER REALLY HAD?
The feeling is indeed the most helpless one. You have spent months
together, knowing and adoring every little detail of each other and
then, the other person conveniently replaces you, without any
intimation and the connection just fades. You don’t exist for that
person and all you are left with is, a void. You try to make yourself
happy with new hobbies, try to decorate the wound with meeting people,
catching up with friends, watching new films but somehow you know you
are sinking into a well that has nothing above, or below it. People
and friends come, they console you that it had to end this way, they
will tell you how careless you had been in not terming or asking the
other person so as where you both were heading, but you know what is
was and you can’t answer these questions. You know what you felt was
true and somehow when the other person reverted this affection, you
never felt the need of validating this bond.
HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS “UNSAID” GOODBYE?
You kept looking for closure, but the other person is no longer
available. You see days and months passing by, feeling that nothing
would make you happy now. But, it is okay to be sad or depressed.
Never be ashamed of your wounds, they turn you a lot wiser and it’s
you who will learn to pick up those broken pieces all by your own
self. Your friends and loved ones will definitely try to help you out,
but you will realise that the only way out is, in. You need to feel
the pain to understand it better. You can overcome pain only when you
understand and battle it on your own. The person you loved is now gone
and all you have is your life, which you need to sort on your own. It
might take days or maybe months to figure yourself out again but make
sure you find yourself, mend every wound and become a “whole” person
again who is again ready to fall in love, experience the ecstatic
adventure of love and is capable of accepting someone in life, once
more.

Crime / Ismaeel Ashraf Died After Being Fed Fish Fingers At School by nneamaka114: 10:43am On Aug 22, 2017
Ismaeel Ashraf complained to teachers at the Al-Hijrah school in Birmingham that he was feeling unwell and that his stomach was hurting. However, he was not given an epipen injection to stop the reaction and was taken to Heartlands Hospital where he died of a suspected anaphylactic shock. His father Tehseen left the inquest as a 999 call was played to the inquest jury. An ambulance call handler was heard asking ‘do you have an epipen? The member of staff responded saying: ‘Yes we are looking for it.’ but then added ‘we don’t have an epipen.’
The ambulance call handler said: ‘We could really do with finding this epipen as soon as possible CCTV footage from the reception area shows Ismaeel being sat down before a teaching assistant arrives with an epipen 11 minutes after he sat down.Ismaeel had a red book that stated he could not eat fish. Kitchen assistant Jemma Sheedy asked the chef if Ismaeel could have fish fingers, which contained pollock, and was told that he could.Kitchen staff at the school employed by catering firm Caterlink admit they did not read the book which records pupils’ allergies and food intolerances. He was also allergic to kiwi fruit, dairy products, nuts and tuna in brine but fish was added to the list. An inquest heard he had fish and chips every week at the school and never had any reaction.
Ms Sheedy said: ‘About five pupils wore badges showing their allergies, one of them was Ismaeel but over time the pupils stopped wearing their badges but we already knew what they were. ‘There’s a red book which has people’s allergies in by the counter. But I’ve never looked at Ismaeel’s. ‘I asked the chef if the allergy boys could have the fish fingers. I was told they could. I was leaving school when told by a colleague Ismaeel had an allergic reaction to fish. ‘When we looked in the book later we were shocked to see Ismaeel was allergic to fish.’ He had eaten the meal at 12.30pm but the alarm was raised at 1.45pm when he complained to teachers that he was feeling unwell. Birmingham coroner Louise Hunt said: ‘He was sent to the school’s reception and was given Pirotin to treat his allergic reaction at around 2pm. ‘He asked for his inhaler because he had difficulties with his breathing. He was with a member of staff who stayed with him until the ambulance arrived. ‘Ambulance staff then arrived and gave him his epipen.’
But his father Tehseen, whose three other children still attend the school, paid tribute to his son at the hearing. He said: ‘He was a a very keen football fan and we would often play football in the park. It was our little way of spending father and son time together. ‘He was very mature for his age, when we went shopping he picked up food that he likes and then the first thing he did was check the ingredients to check if he was allergic to it.‘It happened just before the Easter holidays. He had so many plans with me and his mum about what he wanted to do in his break. ’When asked if the school had epipens, he replied: ‘Yes’. Usmah Mazhar who was working as an assistant chef when Ismaeel ordered fish fingers and chips said staff trusted what children said they can and cannot eat. It was heard the school did not enforce pupils like Ismaeel and his best friend Zak who were known by kitchen staff as the ‘dairy boys’ to wear badges or lanyards stating their allergies.
Mr Mazhar said: ‘I work out what to feed children by what information we’re given by the chef.‘I should’ve read the care plan. A badge stating a child’s allergy would help save a child’s life ‘We were not sure if Ismaeel had an intolerance or allergy to dairy. On a normal Friday he would have fish and chips. But since Ismaeel’s death the red book containing pupil’s special requirements has risen from just seven individuals with allergies to 57. Kitchen manager Deborah Park admitted to the inquest she was surprised by Ismaeel’s care plan when she read it for the first time on the day he had the attack. She said: ‘We called Zak and Ismaeel the Dairy Boys because they were always together and couldn’t have dairy. ‘We were really shocked when it said fish. I think it’s the school’s responsibility to update the care plans ‘We’ve had a lot more care plans go through since the death. It’s gone up from seven to 57 children with care plans. When asked whether she had seen anyone check individual records in the red book Deborah said, ‘No I haven’t seen anyone look at it.’ Until two weeks after Ismaeel’s death, the school ran a tuck shop independently of Caterlink. Dr Robin Tall, a paediatrician, told the inquest Ismaeel had been to Birmingham Children’s Hospital before his death after suffering from a suspected viral illness. He felt better after two days off school and returned to school on March 1st – two days before his death.

Religion / And Her Bleeding Stopped Instantly by nneamaka114: 10:27am On Aug 22, 2017
GRACEVINE DEVOTIONAL
Tuesday, August 22, 2017.

Mark 5:25-34 KJV
And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood TWELVE YEARS, [26] And had suffered many things of many physicians, and HAD ALL THAT SHE HAD, and was nothing bettered, but rather GREW WORSE, [27] WHEN SHE HAD HEARD OF JESUS, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. [28] FOR SHE SAID, If I may touch but his clothes, I SHALL BE WHOLE. [29] And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. [30] And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? [31] And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? [32] And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. [33] But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. [34] And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

Twelve years is a pretty long time to have one drained of their life blood on a daily basis. She was wealthy but money DOES NOT stop Satan. Her money bought her Doctors and drugs but not healing; she didn’t get better. She grew worse. The plague continued until all her money was gone. Just when she was about to give up on life, she heard about Jesus. She didn’t hear that Jesus was the Son of God who came to save Man from Sin. This is what she heard people saying:

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and HEALING ALL THAT WERE OPPRESSED of the devil; for God was with him” (Acts 10:38).

She needed healing, therefore when she heard about Jesus the healer, hope and Faith rose in her heart. She got her healing and Jesus called it Faith.
Here’s how she did it.

1. SHE HEARD IT : She heard that Jesus had / was the solution to her health challenge.

2. SHE SAID IT: She believed and confessed it many times over and over in her heart and with her mouth. “IF I can only just touch His clothes, I know I shall be healed”.

3. SHE DID IT: She didn’t stop at mere confession. She went ahead, pressed through the thick crowd and touched Jesus. Jesus felt virtue or healing power move in His body as it healed her.

4. She RECEIVED : Her physical healing was evidence of what she received. The blood dried up as the massive flow ceased Immediately

5. She TESTIFIED : She came and testified of her healing. She openly confessed her healing. Jesus was the one who labelled her actions as Faith. He said her faith - propelled action saved or gave her what she desired.

I don’t know how long you may have been bleeding FINANCIALLY, MARITALLY, BIOLOGICALLY, ACADEMICALLY, OCCUPATIONALLY, SOCIALLY, MENTALLY, OR SPIRITUALLY, Jesus is still your solution even today.
Have you heard of Jesus? Then confess Him as your Saviour and Helper. Give action to your faith today. Stop moaning and murmuring, rise up and receive what you need. Go after Jesus. May your testimony bless the world.

Shalom
Ken Okotcha.

Nairaland / General / New Job For Charly Boy by nneamaka114: 5:33pm On Aug 21, 2017
The Name Buhari is synonymous to fighting corruption. To what extent
should we forgive his sins of being ill? We have never taken to the
streets in support of his consistent fight against that monster which
has taken lives, destroyed families and turned a giant nation to a
dwarf Republic.
A Nation that flowed with the best nature, ever, has been
de-popularized to a beggar Nation.
Corruption has turned Nigeria which used to be the envy of all, to a
nation labeled with disdain.
If the sins of Buhari is being ill let the protest go on even as he is back because we do not know how effective his presence would be.
But for sure, someday, the rain of insult lavished on Nigerian Democracy, its
Constitution, Psyche and Soul will turn round to justify the innocence
of the man who could not prevent himself from being sick.

Dictated protests against this leader of our fatherland could go on as
long as they are spurred but the strength of truth remains supreme and
eternal.
‘Great respect’ for Charly boy for many of his contributions to this
Nation but sometimes our Mumu de overflow.
A man with a wonderful, intelligent and sound mind as this excerpts from his article published on Sahararepoter illustrates cannot be said to hate the country neither can it be believed that he could easily be mislead at his age, exposure and contribution to Nigeria.;
. –“ I AM A BIAFRAN AT HEART, WHAT SHOULD ENGAGE OUR MINDS IS NOT A SECTIONAL BIAFRA BUT A NATIONAL BIAFRA.
- THE DEEPLY ROOTED DISGRUNTLEMENT IN BIAFRA LAND IS NOT PECULIAR TO MY IGBO BROTHERS AND SISTERS ALONE; ALL THE COMMON PEOPLES IN THE 500 TRIBES IN NIGERIA ARE VICTIMS OF A FAILED SYSTEM AND PERSISTENT OPPRESSION.
- AN INJURY TO ONE IS AN INJURY TO ALL. A BIAFRA STATE IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE THE PLAYERS OF THE GAME, IT WILL ONLY EXACERBATE THE SUFFERINGS OF THE VICTIMS OF THE GAME.
- LET US DUTIFULLY WORK OURSELVES BACK INTO RECKONING BY FIGHTING FOR FAIRNESS, JUSTICE, AND EQUALITY FOR ALL NIGERIANS; NOT IBOS ONLY; YORUBAS ONLY OR HAUSAS ONLY BUT ALL NIGERIANS.”

The above statement has earned Charly Boy the “NO WAYO MAN” of the season but incase our over flow of MUMU may misdirect the topic for a protest, in the interest of a dying country and people from the evil of corruption, the following topics are suggested for Charly Boy’s attention and plausible consideration for protest action.

Sports / Enyeama Is Returning To The National Team – Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr by nneamaka114: 2:54pm On Aug 19, 2017
Super of Eagles of Nigeria head coach, Gernot Rohr, has revealed that goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama will return to the national team once he is fully fit.
In 2015, Enyeama who presently has been axed by his club in France, Lille, announced his retirement from the national team, a day after he was officially stripped of the captain’s armband for the Super Eagles.
He reportedly had an altercation with former Coach of the Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh, and took to his Instagram page to announce that he is no longer available for national team duties and would henceforth face his club career.
He wrote, “I have fought a good fight for more than 13years.I have finished my course, I have kept the faith and sang the anthem with passion. henceforth, there is laid for me a crown which only GOD can reward me for my 13years of national services. God bless NIgeria.
“Henceforth, I am no more the captain of the NIgerian senior football team, I am no more the goalie of the team. I am out of the team. I am no more available for international duties.
But in a recent interview with Owngoalnigeria.com, Coach Rohr revealed that once Enyeama returns to full fitness and also sort out the issues of finding a new club, he is confident he will return to the team.
“The true position is that I have a good relationship with Enyeama and he has a problem with the federation (NFF) before I came on board as coach. When I called him and he said there’s a problem with the federation, I cannot come at the moment,” Rohr stated.
“When I call him again, he asked to take some leave for his injury. I think the situation is a little bit different because some players who don’t want to play for their national team can change their mind.
“But unfortunately the injury of Vincent means he cannot come for this game against Cameroon, not only that he also has to find another club because his club bought two other goalkeepers. “So he cannot play at the moment at his club, he must be fit first and also find another club then hopefully he will be motivated to come back to the national team.”

Nairaland / General / Flat Infested With Flies And Maggots After Corpse Lay Undiscovered by nneamaka114: 2:05pm On Aug 17, 2017
They are believed to have originated from a rotting corpse that lay undiscovered in a flat upstairs. Beau Marr said that her home in Holt Park, Leeds, had become a breeding ground for maggots which had seeped through the ceiling.Describing the scene as looking like ‘something out of a horror film’ she said she has not been able to return to her rented home for more than two weeks. After the maggots arrived she said that there were thousands of flies filling the roomsA large-scale deep clean up operation was finally carried out earlier this week but not before Beau’s possessions were completely ruined, she claims.
The single mother-of-one, who is currently still on maternity leave, has forked out more than £400 to replace baby clothes, food and an expensive cot.
Beau said: ‘I’m living on a tight budget at the moment with a young baby and I’ve had to replace clothes, a changing mat and bottle brush.
‘I’m sorry but anyone who has any hygiene is not going to let your child wear clothes that have had maggots on them, that have come from a dead body.
‘I think I have probably spent £400 just on clothes on food, that’s without even going into the flat and trying to see what is salvageable and what isn’t.
‘It was like something out of a horror film, I have never seen anything like it. It shook and shocked me.
‘I get up everyday and burst into tears thinking I have to go through the trauma yet again. If anyone else went through this situation I would be trying to help them.
‘People are so quick to judge you but I’m trying to get my voice heard and people are being so heartless thinking I’m speaking out for attention.
‘I want people to see social housing for what it really is, I thought enough is enough.’
Beau’s neighbour first noticed an overwhelming smell coming from the flat directly above her on July 30.
‘After ringing police they told her to look through the letterbox where she saw him dead in the hallway,’ added Beau.
‘From what I have been told he had laid there for a good couple of weeks. His body was badly decomposed.
‘I decided to stay with friends and family while the smell filtered out. I contacted the housing association and the officer said they didn’t even know he had passed away, I was the first person to tell them.’
But after returning with her five-month-old daughter, Bonnie, she was shocked to see her entire flat infested with flies and maggots.
‘The maggots had come through cracks in the ceiling and because they had, had free rein of the flat they were in the baby’s clothes and my clothes.
‘We went back on the Saturday to give the flat a clean but it was an absolute state. I was trying to clean the best I could but there were cases ready to hatch everywere.
‘After the fumigation, the flat was covered in flies and they were still flies flying in the air.’
The site owner said unavoidable delays had affected the matter being resolved. The Sanctuary Group, which owns the Holt Farm Close site, was made aware of the death on 2 August.
The housing group said it was unable to access the neighbour, believed to be in his 50s, property until it was decided that no criminal investigation was necessary.
Simon Clark, group director of housing at the Sanctuary Group, said: ‘Ms Marr will obviously not be expected to pay rent for the period of time she has been unable to live in her home address.
‘In addition, she has also now received a payment from Sanctuary to cover her living costs while she has been staying with family and friends.’

Crime / Ogun Police Discover Buried Human Parts In Church, Arrest Pastor, 3 Others by nneamaka114: 10:38am On Aug 17, 2017
Pastor Samuel Babatunde, 77, has been arrested by the Police in Ogun State, in connection with suspected human parts buried in his church. He was arrested alongside with one suspected serial kidnapper, Jeremiah Adeola (32) and a 43-year old herbalist, Haruna Afolabi.

The cleric is said to be the founder of Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Itedo Isinmi, Ayo Parish, Egan Road, in Iyesi Area of Sango-Ota. The State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, said that the discovery followed the arrest of Adeola, last Sunday.
Iliyasu while parading the church founder said that Adeola confessed that the pastor was the receiver of children kidnapped by him while Afolabi, was among the suspects, who allegedly buried the human parts at the entrance of the church.

He said: “The floor of the church was dug as described by Adeola, and parts suspected strongly to be human parts were dug out there in.” Iliyasu promised that the command will carried out forensic investigation into the case.
However, the arrested pastor denied the allegation, saying that a pig was buried alive inside the church contrary to claims that human parts were buried there. Babatunde said the action was done so that it could bring prosperity, good fortune and comfort to members of the church.

He told newsmen that he regretted his action, saying that he met Adeola at a prayer mountain in Ibadan, and never knew that he had any ritualist dealing with the alleged serial kidnapper, whom he accused of mental infirmity.
Adeola, however, stood his ground that the pastor was the receiver of some kidnapped children and that he (Babatunde) paid him N50,000 each for two children.

Crime / A Newborn Baby Girl Miraculously Survived Being Thrown Into A Thorny Bush By Her by nneamaka114: 3:56pm On Aug 16, 2017
The little girl was found lying under the bush, covered in scratches, in the city of Una in western India’s Gujurat state.
It is believed that the case is the latest tragic example of baby girls being rejected by their families in India.
The newborn baby was rescued after her cries were overheard by a passerby who went to investigate.
The little girl was found lying on the ground at the foot of the bush, bleeding from several places where the thorns had pierced her tender skin.
The passerby alerted emergency services and an ambulance quickly arrived on the scene to take the baby to a hospital to be checked over by doctors.
Doctors said the baby would have died had she not been found by the passerby.
Medics carefully pulled the thorns from her body before cleaning her up and making sure that she was fed.
They later said that she was recovering from her injuries and described her condition as stable.
Police have launched a search for the baby’s parents who they believe deliberately dumped her in the bushes.
Baby girls are considered a curse and a financial burden in many poor areas of India.
Families fear having to pay expensive dowries for their weddings, while boys are usually counted upon to take care of their parents in their old age.
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) estimates up to 50 million girls and women are missing in India’s population as a result of infanticide and sex selective abortions.

Nairaland / General / This Locator Tracks Men Who Send Unwanted Pictures Of Their Dick by nneamaka114: 3:37pm On Aug 16, 2017
There is now a website that is tracking the location of men who send unsolicited dick pics.
The rather aptly titled DickPicLocator, scans data on the unsolicited image to find out the GPS coordinates of where it was taken.
Per Axbom, a Swedish web designer, said: ‘I combined my understanding of women being subjected to dick pics on a daily basis with my knowledge of what data is contained within many images today.
‘The Dick Pic Locator is really just a service that has been waiting to happen,’ he told the Local.
For the peen picture platform to work effectively, the image use be an original – for example a screenshot or picture that has been altered after the fact will not be traceable.
So, if you’ve been sent unsolicited dick pics and you want to use the site to find out exactly where they’re coming from, here’s your chance.

Here are a few things you should know about Dickpiclocator.com:

Upload the original image, you may have to download the pic to your phone or computer to do this.
The site will not save the dick pic, it will be deleted once the location data is received.
However, the database will store the timestamp attached to the image. It will also retain data on the GPS location and camera/smartphone model.
The website cannot determine if the person you received the image from is in fact the original owner of the image/owner of the penis pictured.
And it’s now a one-stop shop dick pic detective, it will not show you the front door of whoever sent you the image.
If you want a higher level of accuracy, you maybe be able to use the website in conjunction with Flickr Map or Google Maps
