Three PHCN employees were yesterday electrocuted at Kogberegbe Street, Isolo, Lagos. One of them had earlier gone on the pole to work before he got electrocuted.

Two other employees were later invited to come and remove his body but sadly, they got electrocuted too. How unfortunate. More photos below.

Thank God for them

A woman and her driver cheated death by a whisker on Tuesday after their delivery van somersaulted and went up in flames on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The vehicle, with number plate, Ogun AAB 163 XA, was heading towards the Sagamu area to deliver some cartons of sausage rolls to customers, when the accident happened around 11am at the Ibafo end of the expressway.

It was learnt that the van was on top speed when one of the back tyres burst, and the vehicle somersaulted.

Sympathisers and other passersby quickly moved in and extricated the two occupants from the van.


In less than five minutes, the vehicle exploded and went up in flames.

One of our correspondents, who witnessed the incident, observed that the woman appeared dazed.

She was overheard by one of our correspondents muttering, “Thank you Jesus.”

The driver of the van said he lost control of it immediately the tyre burst.

He said, “We were coming from Lagos and going to Sagamu to make deliveries of some sausage rolls. I didn’t know what went wrong. I just discovered that one of the tyres burst and I lost control of the van. It somersaulted several times. We are lucky.”

PUNCH Metro learnt that the accident could have been aggravated due to the presence of a fuel-laden tanker by the roadside.

The tanker driver, however, swiftly drove it away from the scene immediately the explosion occured.

Men of the Ogun State Fire Service later came to put out the fire, while officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps arrived to control the traffic that had built up on the road.

The mother of two and top Nollywood actress, Bukky Wright, has just signed a multi-million Naira deal with Elkris Super Oat. Mrs Wright became the ambassador of Elkris Super Oat, after sealing the deal on Monday, February 8 at the company’s office after which she was presented with a multi-million Naira cheque.


The celebrated actress who now has a record label opened because of his son Ojay who embraced music is also the manager of Ojay. She revealed that she opened a music studio for Ojay 10 years ago when she noticed his interest in music.

On Sunday, February 7, famous Nigerian comedian Julius Agwu staged an all-star show tagged ‘Life As I See It, THE Rebirth’ at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, which got his mother in tears as Onyeka Onwenu dedicated a special song to her.

The award-winning comedian who staged this gospel musical concert in order to thank the Almighty for his survival after having a successful brain tumour surgery was honored by his colleagues, famous music artists, politicians as well as his family and well-wishers.

The show which kicked off with a lovely performance by Julius Agwu’s children was attended by the wife of ex-governor of Lagos state, Dame Abimbola Fashola, Pat Utomi, Onyeka Owenu, Ali Baba, Nedu, Yinka Ayefele, Omo Baba, Gordons, Funnybone, Pastor ighodalo and wife among others

The highlight of the show that got everyone emotional was when Onyeka Owenu dedicated a song in Igbo Language to Julius Agwu’s mother. A song which was telling her to always give thanks and believe in God because He is the only one who will always be there to protect her and her family. Julius’s mother could not hold back her tears as she danced in a warm embrace with her Son.

Other artists who thrilled the audience includes Waje, London based comedian, and a wrap of dance by gospel artist Yinka Ayefele.

Naija movie industry is really growing oh

A new movie from the stable of Adonis Productions is set to take Nigeria by storm.

The movie titled 76 starring Ramsey Nouah, Ibinabo Fiberesima, Chidi Mokeke and many others will hit cinemas across Nigeria before June 2016.

It is centered around the story of a young soldier from the Middle Belt who gets entangled in a romance and eventually marries a student from the South-Eastern part of Nigeria.

Their budding romance is threatened by endless military postings, and they face the ultimate test when news of the soldier’s involvement in a botched coup attempt hits the headlines.

Nigerian movie star Omotola Jalade Ekeinde is a year older today February 7 and it is a double dose of celebration as it is also her daughter Meraiah Ekeinde’s 16th birthday.

Both mother and daughter are Knorr brand ambassadors and looking at Meraiah’s pictures, one can easily tell that she is like her mother in many ways, because as they say an apple does not fall far from the tree.

Meraiah Ekeinde graduated from Chrisland college, Lagos and she was the Head Girl during her time as a student.


She is currently studying outside the country, reportedly in the United States of America.

On her part, Omotola is accomplished in many respects earning both local and international acclaim for her craft.

In 2013, she was listed as one of the 100 most influential people in the world alongside Michelle Obama and Beyonce Knowles.

In recognition of her inputs towards building the Nigerian movie industry, she was honoured as a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic in 2014 by the federal government.

As expected, her daughter Meraiah is fast taking after her. The 16-year-old is already carving a name for herself with her beauty and sense of style, and if she continues at this pace, then it is safe to say she is going to be just as much a star as her mother.
