Sports › Re: Is John Mikel Obi Superb Or Simply Overrated? by nomoreface: 12:20pm On Mar 19, 2010 |
A lot of people often compare Mikel and JJ. Let's look at it very well; Every player has his style of play, some players e.g. Ronaldinho, are very 'flamboyant' on the pitch and there are also some midfilders (e.g. xavvi hernadez of barca) who are not as flashy but put more on the field for the team than the flamboyant players.
Ultimately, the main objective of play-makers is to create chances or better still bring in the goals. Now JJ Okocha, the master dribbler, has dazzled his way into the hearts of Nigerians. But i ask what did he bring to the team? Yes he scored important goals against Algeria and Cameroon. Then what? if he is as great as we make him to be why did he play in Germany (for Frankfurt), Turkey and France for PSG and Bolton? Why not Bayern Munich, why not Man Utd, Arsenal and the likes?
Now Mikel, a truly young Nigerian playing week in week out for one of the best teams in the world, who at a very young age had to compete with the best in the business for his place in the team;
We are here questioning his abilities. Is it because he is not the flashy player that JJ was? Is it that he is not performing at Chelsea? (yet he features every week and in very important matches). Is it because he plays for Chelsea?
From the little i know the main role of the defensive midfielder is to break-up the opponents attacking move, basically protecting the back 4. Is Mikel not Good at it? (Because @poster was not questioning the role he plays but his ability).
Yes, he has made some mistakes, he had at one time put his career above the U-23 team. But who wouldn't? JJ and Yakubu did not play in our match in Kigali despite being in the country (which ultimately cost us a place in world cup 06).
My people, lets appreciate our own! |

onlysose: I went through all the replies and non seems to connect with the message in the initial post. well , I am not surprise, cos that is what happen when you keep blocking and blocking and blocking lecturers with money throughout your undergraduate life. if your want to insult the northern muslim on this forum it is allowed, simply initiate a different post for that. now , let me raise the intellectual level of this discusion. what is happening in sokoto is politics, two political parties are at each others neck for the governorship position and the case currently is in court. so for the safety of the non indigenes, they were advised to take a vacation for a couple of days. you know the meaning of politics is the protection of your interest in a wider scope of interest and the opposition is bent on having justice
I hope now you get the message, olodo You are Intellectually disfavored!! The ability to type a few sentences on NL does not translate to literacy!!! Some goon gave his fellow country men ultimatum to leave their homes and YOU call it politics!! and say it is for their own safety. Do you know that those people asked to leave also voted in that election? Can't you find saner means of settling issues without shedding human blood? Anambra and Edo state have had to unseat their governors and no one threatened the life of fellow citizens! Man you are dull!! |
Politics › Re: Sokoto: Coalition Issues 24-hour Ultimatum To Non-Indigenes by nomoreface: 12:55pm On Mar 15, 2010 |
I think the biggest problem in this country is the near total illiteracy in the north! David2020: bleep u all (Muslims, mumus). This is a religious come ethnic war basically between North vs West/south/east. I will advocate for a reprisal attack on this animals. If there should be any such blood shed. and if they the notherners wants to break away, let them come out and say so rather than killing innocent souls. i know they will not cos they will suffer greatly. No oil they don't have a strong economic workforce. 30% handicapped, 60% illiterate. They will still need expatriates from the west, south and east to run their economy. They seem not to know the consequences of their actions. They want to turn Nigeria to Pakistan. Impossible! lailai. infact i will start with anihilating them from my area. with what they did in Jos, my anger is boiling against the northerners badly. What am saying is this, if they want to break out, let them come all out and say it rather than camouflaging under religion. I'm sure you mean 98% illiterate out of which 30% are handicapped! |
