Few months after Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, inau­gurated a 71-member PDP Campaign Council ahead of the 2015 general elections, the governor, on Wednesday, inaugurated another PDP Campaign Committee.
The 71-man Campaign Council, which was earlier inaugurated, would give policy directions and en­sure victory for the party in the 2015 poll, while the Delta State PDP Campaign Committee would engage in door-to-door campaign to ensure they garner all the votes in the 2015 general elections.
Daily Times learnt that the 71-man Campaign Coun­cil, which had the State Gov­ernor, Dr. Emmanuel Udu­aghan, and his deputy, Prof. Amos Utuama, as members, include all the PDP gover­norship aspirants who con­tested the primaries with Okowa and other eminent Deltans is the apex policy making body of all cam­paigns of the PDP in the forthcoming general elec­tions.

Commendable! Every leader should emulate such gesture.

GOVERNOR Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has called for the strengthening of the traditional institutions in the country as a way of maintaining law and order.

Besides, he stressed the need for the nation’s democracy to be made to accommodate the country’s peculiarities especially as it affected the traditional institutions.

The Governor who made the call weekend while declaring open a one-day seminar on the Traditional Mode of Dispensation of Justice for members of the State Traditional Rulers Council at Government House annex, Warri, said it was important to strengthen the traditional institution.

Determined to ensure a free, credible and transparent local government elections slated for October 25, 2014 in Delta State, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, says the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) would adopt Option A4 in the primary election for councillorship aspirants across the state.
Comrade Macaulay dropped the hint while addressing PDP leaders and supporters in all the wards in Isoko North Local Government Area during an enlarged meeting at the Isoko North Council Secretariat, Ozoro.
“PDP will adopt Option A4 for the emergence of councillorship candidates for the local government polls. We are ready for the council polls. All councillorship aspirants should go to the field and campaign. No leader is backing any aspirant”, he asserted.
It could be recalled that Option A4 was adopted by Prof. Humphrey Nwosu, a former Chairman of the National Electoral Commission (NEC), in the 1993 general elections adjudged by all, including international observers, as the freest and most credible election in Nigeria.
According to the SSG, the meeting was to inform the people at the grass root that the time had come again for the local government elections in the state, adding that PDP is the only party in Isoko North.
He commended PDP faithful for their large turn out, saying that Dr. Uduaghan -led administration was committed to delivering the dividends of democracy to the door steps of every Deltan, even as he urged the people to continue to support the state government in its determination to finish strong.

DELTA State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has said it is important for everybody to know his neighbour as a way of tackling security challenges.
Speaking at a meeting with traditional rulers and local government council chairmen, Dr Uduaghan said it is important for Deltans to know their neighbours.
According to him, knowing one's neighbour entails knowing the person's source of income, place of work among others.
He observed that the security situation in the country required extra vigilance by the people, urging them to also prompt report any suspicious movement to security operatives.

DELTA State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has enjoined the Federal Character Commission (FCC) not to only concentrate on the equitable distribution of positions and socio-economic amenities and infrastructure but, should also ensure the fair distribution of the nation’s revenue.
