CrimeKeystone Bank Fraud: Staff Declared Wanted Over Alleged N35m Theft by NOPNG(op): 5:34am On Jul 03
A Federal High Court, Lagos has declared Mrs. Ebele Okpala, a female banker with Keystone Bank, wanted over alleged N35 million fraud.

Apart from declaring the banker who is said to be outside the country wanted, Justice deinde Dipeolu, trial judge in the matter, also directed the Department of State Security (DSS), Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), and Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), to arrest her upon arriving the country.

Justice Dipeolu made the above order while granting a motion ex-parte marked FHC/L/530C/2024, filed and moved by M. Bello, on behalf of the Nigeria Police.

In the motion, Ebele Okpala and one Perpetual Onyeto, also a banker were listed as first and second defendants/respondents in the suit, while DSS, NIS and NCS were listed as cited parties/respondents.

In urging the court to make the above orders, Bello, informed the court that the application was pursuant to several sections of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015, and under the court’s inherent jurisdiction. Adding that the application was supported by an affidavit deposed to by Inspector Tope Akerele of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Special Fraud Unit (SFU), Ikoyi, Lagos.

15 Year Old Maduka University Nursing Student Dies After Receiving Injection at School Hospital

In a heartbreaking incident that has sent shockwaves through the academic community, a 15-year-old first-year nursing student at Maduka University, Obi Divine Chisom, died under suspicious circumstances on December 9, 2025, following a visit to the school's hospital. The young student, who was reportedly in good health before the incident, was administered a diclofenac injection for a stomach ache and subsequently suffered a severe adverse reaction that led to her untimely death.

According to eyewitness accounts, Chisom was brought to the school hospital conscious and complaining of a stomach ache. Medical staff took blood samples for testing but, before the results were available, administered a diclofenac injection. Shortly after receiving the injection, Chisom began to experience severe distress and difficulty breathing. She was then placed on oxygen.

The situation took a critical turn when witnesses reported that the student's condition deteriorated rapidly. Her body reportedly began to turn yellow, her lips became dry and unmoving, and her body grew cold. Despite these alarming signs, a nurse dismissed the concerns of those present, stating that the discoloration was her normal body color and that there was nothing wrong with her.

The doctor on duty arrived and allegedly chased the witnesses out of the care room, transferring Chisom to another room and claiming that they needed to rush her to a hospital outside the school. In a disturbing turn of events, the room was locked, and the student was left unattended. When the witnesses were finally allowed back in, they were told that Chisom had died and that her body needed to be moved to the morgue.

The transport of Chisom's body to an external hospital has raised further questions. The ambulance was driven by Dr. Ifeanyi, the same doctor who was on duty. Dr. Ifeanyi, who came to the school as a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) corper, was retained after his service year. His decision to drive the ambulance himself, instead of the regular ambulance driver, has raised further questions. There was no oxygen equipment in the vehicle. Witnesses claim that no one followed the ambulance to the external hospital, and that the entire medical staff was present at the external facility, suggesting that Chisom had already died at the school hospital.

The school has reportedly attempted to downplay its involvement, telling Chisom's friends that she did not die at the school. However, the eyewitnesses have refuted this claim, insisting that she died at the school hospital. The girl's parents have not been responding to communications from the school, and it is believed that they are still in a state of shock and grief.

Chisom's death has left her friends and family devastated. She was a bright and promising student who was looking forward to a new job and had even booked a flight for travel on the upcoming Saturday. Her phone is still with her friends, a poignant reminder of the life that was so suddenly and tragically cut short.

This tragic incident has raised serious concerns about the standard of medical care at Maduka University and the handling of medical emergencies on campus. The administration must provide a full and transparent account of the events that led to Chisom's death and take immediate steps to ensure that such a tragedy never occurs again.

BusinessWema Bank Suffers N2.9 Billion Loss Due To Transfer System Failure by NOPNG(op): 11:40am On Mar 09, 2025
Wema Bank Plc is scrambling to reclaim approximately N2.9 billion in funds that were allegedly siphoned from its system following a technical malfunction. The bank has turned to the Federal High Court in Lagos, filing a lawsuit to secure a preservative order that would force implicated financial institutions to return N2,906,226,083 traced to accounts under their control.

The trouble began on January 16, 2025, when a failure in Wema Bank’s core banking system triggered unauthorized transfers from customer accounts. According to Kehinde Buari, the bank’s Head of Special Review and Investigation, the glitch caused a cascade of unintended transactions affecting accounts both within Wema Bank and across 26 other financial institutions named as defendants in the suit.

In the wake of the incident, Wema Bank launched an internal probe to track down the missing funds. While some of the unauthorized transactions were contained within its own system, a substantial portion had flowed into external accounts tied to the defendant institutions. So far, N888,301,598.15 has been recovered with the cooperation of some of these institutions.

Investigations uncovered attempts by certain recipients to conceal the funds’ origins, with money shuffled across multiple accounts. Wema Bank promptly notified the affected financial institutions, urging them to freeze the implicated accounts, and enlisted the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) to trace the funds’ movements across the banking network.

The bank’s legal and audit teams have since produced detailed reports mapping the funds’ journey, pinpointing recipient accounts, and tallying the amounts recovered. Now, Wema Bank is asking the court to compel the 26 institutions to disgorge both the retrieved sums and any additional traceable funds. It also seeks an order requiring these banks to disclose the identities of account holders who received and dispersed the money, paving the way for law enforcement to step in and pursue further recoveries.

Beyond restitution, Wema Bank wants the court to mandate that these account holders be flagged on the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Credit Risk Management System and other financial watchlists, tied to their Bank Verification Numbers (BVNs), until the full amount is recovered. While some institutions have taken preliminary steps to curb the unauthorized transactions, the bank insists a court order is critical to enforce complete compliance and prevent the funds from slipping away.

Wema Bank cautioned that without judicial intervention, the frozen accounts could be unlocked, jeopardizing its recovery efforts. The stakes are high, as the bank battles to restore customer trust and financial stability.

This isn’t an isolated case in Nigeria’s banking sector. NewsNGR notes that in January, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) won a court order to recover N1.9 billion mistakenly credited to customers due to a system error in October 2024. These recurring incidents are sounding alarms about the security of interbank transactions in Nigeria, especially as digital banking surges. Experts point to aging infrastructure and lax oversight as potential culprits, warning that such vulnerabilities could fuel a rise in errors and fraud if left unchecked.

They don’t read the bible, they only brainwash – OAP Freeze attacks Adeboye again

Controversial media personality, Daddy Freeze, has again taken a swipe at the General Overseer of the Redeemed christian church of God Pastor Adeboye over the ongoing tithes controversy.
This time around, Freeze says G.O Adeboye needs to brush up his biblical proficiency, countering his statement earlier that only a mad man will bring alcohol into the church.

OAP freeze stressed that Pastor Adeboye has made a mockery of christianity and shamed his scriptural knowledge with such a statement.
On his instagram page, he wrote “A General overseer can NEVER override the scriptures, NEVER.

“That’s how one GO, who badly needs to brush up his biblical proficiency, said, “even a mad person knows you can’t drink beer in church.”
“That GO made mockery of Christianity and brandished the bankruptcy of his scriptural knowledge.

“Is he doubting the sanity of the almighty God who declared that tithe could be used to buy beer in Deuteronomy 14:22-26 or is he saying that Moses is a lunatic?
“Read bible they won’t read, na so so brainwashing dem sabi.

“Thank you Reno Omokri and Femi Aribisala you have both showcased the depth of your scriptural understanding and highlighted a genre of knowledge that can only come through dedicated studying and research, I salute you both.”

PoliticsNigerians Will Stone Us To Death, If We Present Buhari As Our 2019 President by NOPNG(op): 4:26pm On Nov 09, 2017
Nigerians Will Stone Us To Death, If We Present Buhari As Our 2019 Presidential Candidate – APC Group Raises Alarm

An All Progressives Congress, APC, group, which goes under the banner of Southern Mandate of Nigeria, SMN, has said that Nigerians will stone them at campaign grounds, if President Muhammadu Buhari is presented as their 2019 Presidential candidate.

National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Francis Ikonomwan, in a statement made available to Journalists, in Benin, the Edo State capital, described the call by members of the Buhari Support Group on President Muhammadu Buhari to contest the 2019 election, as political sycophancy.

He described members of the Buhari Support Group, as a “bunch of people who do not mean well for our party, APC, and Nigerians at large, but rather, they represent their selfish interest.”

Ikonomwan who noted that President Buhari has failed to deliver on his campaign promises, and so Nigerians can no longer entrust him with the leadership of the country, urged him to ignore such calls, adding that, it is not in the interest of the nation.

“We are saddened that these people are not sensitive to the plight of Nigerians. The fact remains that Nigerians are not happy with President Muhammadu Buhari, and our party, the APC.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has not been able to deliver on his campaign promises. What has this administration done to campaign within every sector of the economy, or is it the fight against corruption that has been swept under the carpet?

“Even the political leaders and the people who fought for his emergence a President, today have been abandoned and are all lamenting today

“There is a total disconnect between the people and the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration. Poverty and Hunger is now the order of the day in Nigeria as we speak. It is getting obvious by the day that Nigerians can no longer trust President Muhammadu Buhari with the leadership of this country.

“If APC fields Muhammadu Buhari as its Presidential candidate in 2019, we are afraid that Nigerians may stone us at campaign grounds. We may just end up giving the opposition party the Presidency in 2019, on a platter of gold.

“However, we wish to call on President Muhammadu Buhari to ignore such calls, as it is not in the interest of Nigerians.

“President Muhammadu Buhari’s priority now should be how to use the remaining part of his administration to deliver on our campaign promises, and do the needful, by not indicating interest to contest in 2019”, the statement said

TENSION!!! APC Set To Crush ALL PDP Party Members Before 2019, Begins Massive Arrest Of PDP Bigwigs, 5 Already Picked Up And Detained

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has raised an alarm over the orchestrated plot by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to arrest 50 of its members, ahead of the 2019 elections.

Recall, that some PDP members, including the former Governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada, and Senator Grace Bent, have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for alleged corruption.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, in a statement, said 50 members of the party have been penciled down for arrest in the ongoing clampdown on the opposition, by the ruling party.

“Already, five members of our party have been illegally arrested and detained by EFCC, without any charge preferred against them.

“Who the rest 45 members to be picked up are, we cannot say in the immediate”, the party Spokesman said.
It, however, added that the party was scared of the persecution, and expressed the hope that it would overcome.

The PDP added that, the arrests have nothing to do with the anti-corruption war, but with the 2019 elections.

“Having failed on all its major election planks, and with nothing to show for its over 30 months in office, the APC government has come to the conclusion that the only way to prevent its inevitable defeat at the polls in 2019, is to hound, harass, intimidate, and suppress members of our party into submission.

“However, we wish to state clearly that irrespective of what the APC government does in an attempt at bringing the PDP down to its knees, we shall remain irrepressible, and will not bow to any tyranny.

“The APC has already thrown away its chances in the 2019 elections by its non-performance. No amount of intimidation and harassment of the opposition will improve its fortunes.

PoliticsI Have NEVER Told A Lie Before!!! – Information Minister, Lai Mohammed, Explodes by NOPNG(op): 12:58am On Nov 09, 2017
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has challenged those calling him a liar, to present concrete facts disputing whatever he had said before.

Lai Mohammad, who said that he has never told a lie before, made this disclosure during an interactive session with Reporters.
Naijaonpoint recalls that Nigerians have branded Lai Mohammed a ‘liar, by taking anything he says with a pinch of salt.

While speaking with Reporters, Lai Mohammed said: “I have two burdens. The first is that I happen to be the face of the opposition, and PDP has not forgiven me, and I do not think they will ever forgive me.

“I think they look at the magnitude of what has happened to them, and they hold me solely responsible; which is not fair.

“But, I did my bit. Now becoming the face of government again, it is automatic to them that whatever comes from Lai Mohammed, we must shoot it down as fake news and a lie

“Incidentally, my father gave me the name Lai, also. So, it makes it very easy for them to make me a liar. But what I challenge them every time is, please, give me one thing I said that is not true. I have never told lies before.

He added: “Emotionally, you may not agree with me, but in terms of facts and figures, I have never said anything that they can be disputed. You do not have to like it, but you cannot deny that they are facts.”

Nairaland GeneralBag Of Rice Will Sell For N5, 000, Dollar Will Exchange For N150, Fuel For N30 by NOPNG(op): 5:56am On Oct 25, 2016
Bag of Rice Will Sell for N5, 000, Dollar Will Exchange for N150, Fuel for N30 – Nigerian Prophet Declares

Prophet Ade Okeowo of Word of Liberty Evangelical Ministry, Ikorodu, Lagos State, has made interesting prophecies about Nigeria. The prophet revealed that Nigeria will soon experience a turnaround as prices on commodities will crash in no time, stating that God did not, however, specify that the revelation would come to pass under President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime.

He specifically mentioned that God told him the cost of bag of rice and fuel, will be drastically reduced. He made this revelation in a chat with Encomium, urging Nigerians to stop casting blames on President Buhari, as he needed time to fix the country. He said, “That’s what God has revealed to me. Listen to me attentively; I am not speaking my words but God’s. “Now, people buy rice N25, 000 per bag but God told me that we’re going to buy a bag of rice as cheap as N5, 000. A US dollar will exchange for as low as N150 and fuel will sell for as low as N30 or N40 per litre. That’s what God said will happen in this country.” Asked if his prophecies will come to pass during Buhari’s administration, the cleric said, “God didn’t tell me that one but He revealed to me all of these and more beautiful things will happen after all the pain, but Buhari’s efforts will lead to that. “Nigeria will be forced to a stage of break up but God will intervene.”

The Prophet further noted that Buhari is not to blame for the economic woes. He said, “We should not blame anybody. People should not even hold Buhari responsible at all. From what God has revealed to me, He sent Buhari to Nigerians as an angel. I Couldn't Satisfy My Wife in Bed, But these simple solutions WORKED! - Click Here To Read “God has also revealed to me that Buhari shouldn’t be worried, that everything will soon be alright. God showed me that Nigeria is like a second hand car (Tokunbo). We all know that if you buy a second hand car, it’s surely not in a perfect state. You will be fixing this today, that tomorrow until it’s fully fit. And it’s not something that will be done overnight.

“We all need to understand that if we want the country to move forward. Buhari is the one buying all the spare parts to repair the damaged car called Nigeria. By the time he completes the repair, the vehicle will move and everybody will enjoy it. That’s just the parable of Nigeria’s situation now. “Everything will soon be alright. There are many Josephs that God is going to use to uplift this country, and Buhari is one of them.” Share Thoughts on 'The Other Room Comment' Recalling the other prophecies of his that have also come to pass in recent times, the Prophet said,

“I predicted the Olympic soccer final. I said Germany would defeat Nigeria, it came to pass. I even said it’s going to be 2-0. I said the gold medal was for Brazil, they all came to pass. “I predicted President Jonathan would lose the 2015 presidential election, a lot of people didn’t believe it. Even some prophets almost bet their lives on it that Buhari would lose, but it was revealed to me that Buhari would win and he won. “Even, God revealed to me that no matter what other governorship candidates in Oyo do, Abiola Ajimobi will emerge victorious and it came to pass. I still have a message for him.” The father of two concluded by saying “God told me to warn Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State to beware of the way he chose his commissioners so that they will not destroy his government.

“Also, Governor Amosun of Ogun State should be careful of some people in the state, because some of them are hell bent in destroying his government as well.”

Photos: 12 Year Old Egyptian Boy Nasser Hassan Set To Marry His 11 Year Old Cousin After Receiving His Father’s Blessings (Must See)

An 12-year-old boy will marry his cousin, 11, after the groom-to-be’s father gave the couple’s engagement his blessing. While family and friends celebrated Nasser Hassan’s eldest son’s lavish wedding, the father decided to ‘double the joy’ in Egypt by announcing the engagement.

Egyptian law prohibits marriages for anyone under 18 and the decision for Omar, 12, and Gharam, 11, to marry has sparked outrage among activists. According to Daily Mail, the father told Egypt’s Al Watan newspaper there was ‘nothing inappropriate’ about the couple, adding that it was only ‘an engagement, not a marriage’.

The wedding of the older brother was held 75 miles north of Cairo, and when the announcement was made, guests didn’t bat an eyelid, according to the Washington Post. But photos of the young couple were published in local media which were met with anger.

Reda Eldanbouki, the head of the Women’s Center for Legal Aid and Counseling, reported the incident to government agency the National Center for Childhood and Motherhood. He also filed a complaint with the attorney general to investigate the incident and hold the parents accountable for this ‘crime,’ Omar’s father brushed off any criticism, and said he ‘is a free man and did nothing wrong’. ‘

Omar has always loved Gharam so much that he used to say he will marry her when they grow up before any other man asks for her hand in marriage when she is older,’ he added. ‘They will get married when they reach the legal age.’

He said both children acted ‘beyond their years’ and had ‘strong feelings for each other’ through Facebook and other social media and ‘wanted to get engaged’

RomanceWhy Men Really Prefer Women With Massive Bums…scientists Reveal The Answer by NOPNG(op): 12:02pm On Jul 27, 2016
According to an article published by Dailymail, scientists have now proffered reasons why men prefer women with massive bums. Modern man’s preferences for women with a curvy backside has been traced back to prehistoric influences.

It found the ‘theoretically optimal angle of lumbar curvature,’ is a 45.5 degree curve from back to buttocks.

This allowed ancestral women to better support, provide for, and carry out multiple pregnancies.

‘What’s fascinating about this research is that it is yet another scientific illustration of a close fit between a s*x-differentiated feature of human morphology — in this case lumbar curvature — and an evolved standard of attractiveness,’ said the study’s co-author David Buss, a University of Texas at Austin psychology professor.

‘This adds to a growing body of evidence that beauty is not entirely arbitrary, or ‘in the eyes of the beholder’ as many in mainstream social science believed, but rather has a coherent adaptive logic.’

The research was published online in Evolution and Human Behavior, and consisted of two studies. The first looked at vertebral wedging, an underlying spinal feature that can influence the actual curve in women’s lower backs. About 100 men rated the attractiveness of several manipulated images displaying spinal curves ranging across the natural spectrum.

Men were most attracted to images of women exhibiting the hypothesized optimum of 45 degrees of lumbar curvature.

‘This spinal structure would have enabled pregnant women to balance their weight over the hips,’ Lewis said.

‘These women would have been more effective at foraging during pregnancy and less likely to suffer spinal injuries.

‘In turn, men who preferred these women would have had mates who were better able to provide for fetus and offspring, and who would have been able to carry out multiple pregnancies without injury.’

The second study addressed the question of whether men prefer this angle because it reflects larger buttocks, or whether it really can be attributed to the angle in the spine itself.

Approximately 200 men were presented with groups of images of women with differing buttock size and vertebral wedging, but maintaining a 45.5-degree

Nairaland GeneralMy Boko Haram Battle, By Pastor Oritsejafor by NOPNG(op): 1:30am On Jul 24, 2016
•Says he bears no grudge against critics as he quits CAN presidency
•Ayokunle, successor: We won’t patronise govt and fail in our responsibilities

By Sam Eyoboka

REVEREND Samson Olasupo Adeniyi Ayokunle assumed the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, on Wednesday, when he succeeded Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor during a colourful handing over ceremony witnessed by many Christian leaders at the National Christian Centre, Abuja. Born on Friday, January 25, 1957 in Oyo, his home town in Oyo State, the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, NBC, who contested on the platform of the Christian Council of Nigeria, CCN, emerged CAN President on June 14, polling 54 votes to defeat his only rival, Elder Joseph Otubu of the Motailatu Church Cherubim and Seraphim Worldwide (MCCSW), who garnered 28 votes.

He becomes the seventh National President of the largest ecumenical body in Africa, CAN, after Dominic Cardinal Ekandem (1976-1986), Anthony Cardinal Okogie (1988-95), His Eminence Sunday Mbang (1995-2003), Most Rev. Peter Jasper Akinola (2003-2007), John Cardinal Onaiyekan (2007-2010) and Oritsejafor (2010-2016). Ayokunle is taking the mantle of leadership at a very critical moment of inter-religious tensions and crisis in Nigeria that have left over 400 Christians dead.

The biggest challenge the new CAN leadership will face is that of reconciling aggrieved parties in the association, especially the embittered President of the ECWA unit, Rev. Jeremiah Gado, who, until Tuesday, was in an Abuja High Court seeking an interlocutory injunction to stop Wednesday’s inauguration of the new CAN leadership. There are daunting tasks ahead of Ayokunle’s administration which will require collective efforts to resolve in the spirit of the association’s motto, especially the insurgency in different parts of the country. The motto of CAN is: ‘That they all may be one,’ with inspiration from John 17:21 of the Holy Bible.

The National Christian Elders Forum, NCEF, an elite group established by the Oritsejafor administration of CAN, has, in a related development, argued that the devastation of Christian communities and infrastructure through religious insurgency requires concerted Christian action to rebuild, pointing out that critical Christian infrastructure were deliberately destroyed by Islamists in a bid to wipe out Christianity in Nigeria.

Recent documents also predicted more serious religious crisis in Nigeria if proper attention is not paid to reports from the nation’s intelligence community. According to sources, the politically-motivated crisis may shake the nation’s unity in the wake of the killing of Christians by Muslims in the federal capital territory, Abuja, Niger, Kaduna, Kano, Nasarawa, Plateau and Benue States.

The sources also informed that the high rate of arms proliferation in key areas of Abuja and the six states is the reason this threat should not be taken lightly by the Federal Government, pointing out: “We are working with agencies and have been submitting prompt Situation Reports on Abuja and states concerned especially Kaduna, Kano, Niger, Nasarawa and Plateau as launch pads for those masterminding politically-motivated religious crisis.”

Playing politics with Boko Haram

In a farewell speech delivered at the ratification and the handing over to the new CAN President, Oritsejafor, dressed in milk-colour flowing attire, recalled how certain northern Christians, worried about happenings in that region, “took the pain to call on me to become the national leader of the Church in Nigeria”.

The immediate past CAN President went on: “With hesitation and uncertainty, I offered myself to serve. On assumption of office, I was confronted with a Church in dire need of pragmatic leadership, with both internal and external challenges. We came in at a period when the challenges of the Church had reached a point that lots of Christians in northern Nigeria had been displaced from their homes and churches. Some pastors, particularly in northern Nigeria, were closing their churches. Lots of fellow Nigerians had become internally displaced persons in their homes”.

The financial situation of the association at that time, he stated, was precarious, but “God helping us, we were able to raise the alarm both in Nigeria and in the international community that Boko Haram was a terrorist group when most people were playing politics with it”. Oritsejafor continued: “This necessitated my boldly addressing the American Congress and insisting that Boko Haram should be domesticated as a terrorist organization. To our delight, it was so domesticated though still wreaking havoc in some parts of Nigeria.

“We also took the pains to visit victims of the insurgency in most of the northern states, especially in Borno, Bauchi, Gombe and Plateau at the heat of the attacks to encourage our brothers and sisters to remain calm and peaceful. We were able to visit most Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps to provide them with relief materials and encouragement at personal costs.

“God also gave us the vision to initiate the building of The CAN Jubilee Resort and Leadership Training Centre which should serve as venue for church activities and revenue generation point for the body. Today, God helping us with the support of committed Nigerians, we have completed and commissioned the project. “It is also important to mention that we have initiated the process of building a six-floor car park that would help generate even more income for CAN. In fact, the drawings are ready for the commencement of the project.

“In our attempt to ensure the achievement of the primary goal of CAN, which is to unite the Church and expand the gospel regardless of our denominations, doctrines and regions, I also took out time to visit and fellowship with all the church blocs in CAN”.

Youths radicalisation

There is no gain saying the fact that the rising tide of poverty in the country has played a significant role in the upsurge of radicalization among youths in the North. It was Guy Arnold, a British author, writing mainly in the areas of African history and politics, and international affairs, who, in 1977, lamented the Nigerian situation.

“Oil wealth has brought to Nigeria vast possibilities of breaking out of an old poverty and bringing development to all its people, but it has also brought with it problems: mal-distribution of incomes and rewards with their accompanying political and social complications; rising living costs; widespread corruption; violent crime; and a spirit of indiscipline that may easily arise when a country thinks it can solve all its problems with money—in this case from oil”, Arnold said,

Taking a cue from this, Oritsejafor, who is also the founder of Word of Life Bible Church, Warri, Delta State, having seen the precarious situation of Christians in some communities in the North, said: “We decided to provide a revolving loan to some Christians from Tafawa Balewa local government area of Bauchi State and Hausa-Kanuri and Fulani Christians from selected communities in both the North-West and North-East,” in addition to providing scholarships and other forms of empowerment to some victims of Boko Haram and, in some cases, feeding and securing alternative accommodation to seriously affected victims of attacks in different locations of the nation irrespective of their faith.

According to him, out of the desire of his administration to help Christians in diaspora key into the vision of CAN back in Nigeria, “we successfully established what is known as CAN-America where members are now praying for Nigeria and supporting many victims of attacks in Nigeria”. Just last week, the former CAN President said he was in Johannesburg to inaugurate CAN-South Africa.

Disunity among Christians

Despite what is generally perceived as a frosty relationship with the other religion, Islam, Oritsejafor affirmed that his administration encouraged and built interfaith relationship with non-Christians and “we participated actively in the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC).”

Acknowledging the disunity in the Body of Christ, he said time and space would not permit him to dwell extensively on the “challenges we went through before, during and after the election of the National President and Vice President”. His words: “Time and space will not permit me to make an analysis of all that happened because it will amount to defence. I have decided to let go of all the challenges and the several attacks I faced. I pray that God will heal our hearts in Jesus’ name”.

Reiterating his call for national/individual repentance and reconciliation without which there cannot be meaningful development, Oritsejafor averred that his administration had actually endeavoured to ensure that all parties were reconciled, expressing gratitude to the former leaders of CAN and good hearted individuals, who, he said, had made efforts to deepen the reconciliation.

“Let me use this opportunity to plead with us to ensure that CAN and the office of the CAN President becomes a respected institution,” Oritsejafor said. He pleaded with all those who may have been hurt by any of his actions for forgiveness, saying: “On my part, may I reassure this gathering that I hold no grudge against any man”.

In his acceptance speech, the new CAN President, while acknowledging the enormity of the task before his team, took time to appreciate the contribution of his predecessor who he described as humble, generous and committed to leading this “Christian ecumenical body with integrity”. Turning to Oritsejafor, Ayokunle said: “Whether people really appreciate your contributions or not, the Lord whom you served would reward you abundantly in the name of Jesus Christ. We shall not only say thank you with the

Christianity EtcDivine Fruitfulness Is God’s Desire For Mankind- Adeboye by NOPNG(op): 1:16am On Jul 24, 2016
GENERAL Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has described divine fruitfulness as God’s mandate and desire for mankind, especially for those who are His true children of God, submissive and willing to do His will. Pastor Adeboye made this known while delivering a sermon at a monthly special prayer meeting organised for pregnant women, youths, singles and their families at the National Headquarters of RCCG, Throne of Grace Parish, Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

Speaking on the theme; “Divine Fruitfulness”, he said God hates bareness, fruitless efforts hence the need for the participants to ensure that they are divinely fruitful in their physical, career and spiritual life, warning that such divine fruitfulness can manifest when they serve God diligently and are obedient to God’s commandments.

In his words: “After God made man in His own image, the first thing He said to man after He blessed them is be fruitful and if we are talking about the law of priority that is what is uppermost in your heart is what will come out of your mouth first and you can see that fruitfulness is very crucial to God. God doesn’t want people to labour and there is nothing to show for it, that is not our God. He doesn’t even like people being stagnant.”

The cleric told the congregation that RCCG solidly believes and stands on divine fruitfulness and that is why the church emphasizes on church growth, spiritually and numerically and that is the reason why the church will not give room for lazy ministers who refused to double their church members. “A pastor who says he has the calling of God and his church is not growing the way it should, we ask him to go and start his own church because it means we are not sure that God called him. If God calls you and send you to do something, that thing will grow; our church is a church of growth”, he emphasised.

Enumerating the characteristics of a divine child, Adeboye explained: “When a child comes directly from God, that child will be a source of joy to the parent all the days of his life. One of the ways you know if a child is from God is that it will give joy to the parents all the days of his life. True children of God will lead their parents’ at times when they want to go wrong when it comes to the things of God.”

RomanceCoping With The ‘in Sickness And In Health’ Of Your Marriage Vows by NOPNG(op): 12:09am On Jul 24, 2016
DID it ever occur to you that when you stood at the altar and promised to love your husband ‘in sickness and in health,’ that one day you’d be forced to confront the reality of those vows? You ought to. This is life. We’re all going to get old. Some of us may suffer long-term or terminal illness or have accidents that leave us unable to look after ourselves. When accidents happen, would you be able to look after your sick spouse unconditionally? Would your husband do it for you? More to the point, would you want him to?

Lovers

“I’m not the kind of person who copes very well with illness or stress, “ confessed Kate. “I’ve only been married for two years. If he suffered a long-term illness now, I would probably walk away. I am young and I have my whole life ahead of me. However, if it was something short-term, I would stay and care for him. I would also do this if I was in my 50s, or 60s, and still with the same man I’m with now”, concludes the 30-year-old dentist.

Eight years ago, Solape’s husband was away on business when two of his colleagues called at the house. They told her that Bruce, her husband, was involved in a car accident and had been hospitalised. “I was distraught,” Solape said. “We’d been married for 14 years and with three growing children, I needed the support of a healthy partner. When his colleagues refused to tell me the extent of his injuries, I was really scared.

“It was when I got to the hospital that I found out he was in a coma where he remained for almost two weeks. He eventually regained consciousness but he had suffered some injuries to his brain and would need constant care. It didn’t ever cross my mind not to be there for him. He was the father of my kids. But would he do the same for me if the roles were reversed? I was thinking of this seriously when a female colleague of his visited. She said she was away on transfer when the accident happened. I was friendly with her and she commended me on my staying with him when I knew there was another woman with my husband in the car when he had the accident. She was the woman he was rumoured to be having an affair with and which he had vehemently denied.

“When she realised 1 hadn’t heard of the mistress until she told me, she felt guilty and embarrassed. I assured her she’d done me a favour. I was at breaking point when this happened. I knew my marriage ended with the accident and now I can relieve myself of the caring job fate thrusted upon me. I couldn’t take care of the children properly and my business was suffering. In the end I had to tell him I knew about the woman he had with him when he had the car accident and that I was leaving with the children. We had a right to live a healthy life – he’d already chosen the path he wanted to walk. He’d obviously betrayed me and our marriage vows before the accident – no one would judge me negatively if I left, so I did. I made sure his relatives knew what my decision was and that they would have to take over caring for him. “

“Twelve years ago when I got married, the ‘in sickness and in health’ part was very meaningful to both of us,” said Tolu, a nursing sister. “Although neither of us is sick or injured, my husband is a high ranking policeman and I know that there is a possibility he could come home a different person – it could be with fewer limbs or even a psychological problem. When you marry a person, you marry them for a reason – it doesn’t matter how much you have to do for them or how much strain there is. There are many reasons why you might walk away from a marriage, but illness and injury should not be one of them.”

“When you are committed to someone, it becomes automatic, no matter how unpleasant it is for you to care for them “in sickness or in health,” said Evi.an educationist. “I looked after my husband when he had kidney cancer. The cancer spread to his bones and he was virtually bed-ridden. We were told the illness was terminal.

“He wouldn’t let anyone else look after him. Even when he was in hospital, I was there 12 or 14 hours every day, washing and feeding him and helping him to the toilet. I had a good job, but had to resign because I was away for too long, thankfully, money wasn’t really a problem. For me, there was no choice. My husband was dying and I wanted to be with him every waking moment. I knew I would have plenty of time to sort out my career and get my life back on track once he had gone. 1 was 41, and he was 54. The months we spent together were amazing. We talked about me re-marrying and about what it might be like to be dead.

“The biggest difficulty was not knowing how he felt. He was the one with the disease and I constantly worried about his pain levels, both physical and emotional. When he eventually died, the hole that he left was enormous. I am not in any way ashamed to say that there was also some relief. Relief that he was out of pain, and relief that I could get some rest. But there was also contentment knowing that I had done whatever was needed. I had cared for him until the last day.”

PoliticsKogi Governor Threatens To Sue Online News Medium by NOPNG(op): 12:01am On Jul 24, 2016
The Chief Press Secretary to the Kogi State Governor, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo has threatened an online news medium, Leading Reporters with a court action if their “unsubstantiated allegations of fraud against the Governor” is not retracted in the next seven days.

Addressing press men at Mopa, headquarters of Mopamuro Local Government Area on Saturday, Fanwo said Governor Yahaya Bello is paying necessary attention to issues of financial transparency and accountability.
Yahaya-Bello
Yahaya-Bello
It would be recalled that Leading Reporters, an online news outfit recently published a news report, detailing how the Governor allegedly wasted over N270 million in two days and how his official vehicles have been converted into a vault.

Reacting to the allegations, Fanwo said the reports shows how “desperate easy money-seekers could go to blackmail people into parting with money”.

“I have read the report and my first reaction was that of not giving attention to an amorphous media that are just striving to survive on blackmail. The report is a fountain of falsehood and unbridled desperation to poison the mind of the public against the giant stride of the present administration.

“However, the preposterous nature of the report is capable of hoodwinking the unsuspecting public into believing the watery lies of a fast fading media war against the Governor and government of Kogi State.

“The incredulously unimaginable lies against the person of the Governor and some top government officials is condemned, disapproved and rejected. At no point did the Governor or any government official engaged in such a senseless cash handling as reported by the discredited online news.

“Operations of government and its officials are unambiguous. Accusing the Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs of sharing money at Government House is false, unintelligent, maligning and an assault on the intelligence of the Kogi people.

“Mr. Kabiru Onyene was never involved in paying money on behalf of the government. Also, the vehicles mentioned in the report show that the sponsors of the malice-laden piece didn’t do enough investigations before going to press.

“I was contacted by one of the staff of Leading Reporters and I know what they actually wanted. But I also know that as a transparent government, the present administration in Kogi State is not prepared to succumb to cheap blackmail by the opposition.

“Governor Yahaya Bello has been using his personal vehicles bought before he became Governor as official cars. His political appointees are yet to receive official cars as we speak. He kept saying it was impossible for government officials to be riding in posh cars when civil servants were yetto be paid salaries.

“Since Leading Reporters claimed to have documentary evidences of the allegations against government, they will have to present this in a law court. We won’t sit by and allow people insult the sensibilities of the Kogi people. Whenever the state is maligned in the press, it is not just against the Governor or government of Kogi State , but against the entire people of the State.

“The intention of sponsors of this campaign of calumny is clear : They have seen the trend of development and are running against time to stop investors from having continued confidence in the Kogi State Government. With the aggressive approach of the administration against insecurity and the innovation that is about to emerge in IGR collection, they know Kogi is destined for greatness against their wish.

READ ALSO: Munich Shooting: Nigeria Sends Goodwill Message To Germany
“No amount of propaganda and preposterous derogatory assault against the Governor can stop or wane down his determination to reposition the State and make it one of the best in the country.

“The Kogi people have won the KSU ASUU disagreement. The Kogi people has won the war against ghost workers. The Kogi people is winning the war against insecurity. We will win the media war because fact is superior to falsehood”.

Fanwo urged the people of the State to key into the Good Governance Initiative of the present administration which encompasses transparency and accountability, saying the Governor is gradually enshrining the culture of financial discipline in the minds of the political and bureaucratic class.

He said the Governor is committed to his pledge to ensure no legitimate worker loses his or her job to the screening exercise, assuring affected workers with genuine complaints that their cases will be handled diligently and fairly by an appeals panel which shall be set up shortly after the submission of the back up committee reports on the screening exercise.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor said the Alhaji Yahaya Bello has chosen “competent and trusted hands” to help pilot the affairs of the State, insisting that the bulk stops on his table.

“Governor Yahaya Bello is a team player who believes in his team. But he enjoys the prerogative of taking or rejecting recommendations. Insinuating that someone else is ruling on his behalf is an insult to the collective pride of the Kogi people”.

He said the Governor cannot be distracted from his desire and commitment to transform Kogi State.

“We are not unaware of the machinations of our detractors to peddle spurious publications against Governor Yahaya Bello to win the sympathy of the judiciary ahead of the determination of the tribunal cases before the appellate court.

Truth is sacrosanct.

“The fearlessness of the judiciary in upholding the sanctity of the law gave the Governor five victories in five days at the tribunal. The facts remains unchangeable, unimpeachable and unshakeable that non-candidates have no locus standi to challenge the outcome of an election and that votes are for political parties and not candidates. The tribunal gave a sound judgement that will serve as a legal bedrock for similar cases in the future.
