To ease myself the stress of making purees every morning , on Saturdays I make apple puree, Pear Puree, Avocado puree , carrot puree all depending on what I need for the week and store in the freezer . Anyone I need for the day I just bring it out in the morning while preparing breakfast nd warm it.

Then I made date syrup myself and put it in a jar and kept it in the fridge . When I make my baby's food i sweeten it with the syrup . Like she will be having rice cereal mixed with carrot puree this evening I ll add her milk then sweeten it with the syrup . The rice cereal was made by me also ( recession plenty grin )

Please mama, how do you make date syrup? I tried it once by blending the dates I soaked in water for about one day. I stored in a jar but it started swelling after some hours and spilling out of the jar. I had to dispose it.

Mamas, let's be mindful of the hairstyles we make for our girls. I saw this on IG today, I don't know if it's possible but one can't be too careful.

You can add chicken pox and MMR. As at December, this was what my son had.
MMR 7500, chicken pox 4500, CSM 1500, typhoid 4500.

Thanks mama. She already took all these earlier. She ended up taking meningitis and typhoid fever, I think.

try bread and tea instead of water.

or a snack like home made meatpie.

if you live in a cold climate area, catarrh in toddlers are like 5 and 6. olbas oil, eucalyptus oil, feeding them fruits are known to help.

Thanks mama, I was already planning to use tea, na to just add bread.

@ovems, amen. Thanks.

Goodmorning Mamas. I made the earlier post in Nov 2016, would have been back to share the testimony after we made progress but my son was just falling my hand. Lol. Sometimes, we would have made a lot of progress and the next thing, I will notice that we had taken few steps back.
Well, now he is 13months old. He wakes up just once or twice. I give him water when he wakes up which is usually 4hours after he sleeps. But when he wakes up the second time, its breastmilk (which I intend to stop totally soon). The goodnews is he sleeps for 4hours straight but still doesn't sleep all through the night. We are getting there sha.
For those still going through something similar, I just ignored his request for breastmilk and offered water instead. He resisted and cried for loooong at first but with time, the cries reduced and he now looks for the water himself now and goes back to sleep on his own. Thank you all for your help especially Onegai, Zaynie, AlphaHandMaiden, helovesme. Really grateful.

Thanks so much for this. I am in this same situation, my baby is 13 months old but has never slept through the night. I tried doing the water thing 2 weeks ago but she fell sick few days after I started. I had to continue with the braestfeeding o, my braests have suffered. I will attempt it again though.

Please mamas I need home remedies for catarrh that refused to stop in toddlers. Thanks.

Hello mums. Pls can anyone help me on info for vaccinations? My baby is 2 and half years old now but only took vaccinations given by the govt. So i discovered she missed chicken pox, pneumonia & otitis media, MMR, rotavirus, meningitis, typhoid fever and perhaps any other I'm not aware of. We would really like to have her get them. Is this still possible? Can anyone who knows help me with info on costs and where they can be accessed please? I live in festac but can take her anywhere within Lagos.

Just saw this.

You can ask for the other ones from the health centre at festac, ask for nurse Uwakwe there. She will answer all your questions. Better still, go to an hospital and ask. EMEL gives immunization on Fridays, La Bonne Sante at 321 road gives on Saturdays. All the best.

Happy New Year mamas.

Please which vaccines did your babies take at 2 years? I have asked from 3 sources, two of them said she should take Typhoid fever and meningitis while the third said Hepatitis A should be included. The other two said since she has taken Hepatitis B, no need for A.

Also, how much did they cost? Thanks.

Breastfeed very well. Then it's best to see a doctor, preferably a paediatrician, who will listen to your baby's breathing and prescribe the necessary medication.

@ soonest, thanks so much.

@onegai, what I wanted to do traditionally was to use scent leaves. I learnt it helps to stop stooling. As for the diagnosis, the first time I took her to the hospital, full blood count test was done and nothing was found. So the doctor said I should just continue with ORS and zinc. That was some two weeks ago.

When it worsened on Thursday, I had to take her back. The different doctor I met said it has to be from creche and that I should let the nannies know. Then she sent her for another full blood count shocked. I just carried myself out of the place jejely.

As for EMEL, I don't have their money now o. And I can't keep her at home because there's no one to stay. In fact, I prefer that a child stay at home till at least one year of age before creche or school or what have you. But wetin man go do na? Man must chop.

Thanks so much.

@ midasnaturals, she has taken all vaccinations for her age. Thanks.

@ dunasy, thank you. I want to prepare scent leaves for her, I'll take out of it too.

Onegai:

Dunasy mentioned extra precaution with hygiene. The nappy rash is most likely caused by the excessive stooling (it happens). However I will recommend you to take your LO to a GH or Federal Hospital. Because private hospitals tend to have one or 2 specialists (the owner of the clinic), with resident doctors (whom are technically "still in school", they haven't specialised) who are not as experienced and then call other specialists from time to time (that is when you hear "paeditrician comes on Wednesdays etc). You need to see a Paeditrician and you need to see one fast. Ask your Dr to write a referral to the nearest big GH (the referral will say what he suspected as diagnosis and what he has been giving for treatment). State where you live, maybe someone here can tell you the closest GH to you.

Thanks ma. I've actually improved hygiene. The two times we've been to the hospital, we saw paediatricians. I took her to MCC at Festac both times. And that is where I've always taken her to. In fact, this last time I asked the doctor to give me something to stop it, she started speaking grammar. I think I've tried medically that's why I want to go traditional.

Thanks so much for taking your time to respond. God bless you.

Ma'am,

She will be fine.

You have to ensure all utensils used in preparation for her meals are squeaky clean and germ free. Boil water for every meal.

Give her clean boiled water as often as you can not when she demands so she isn't dehydrated, more so the weather is a bit hot .

Check her meals, it might be triggered more by what you are feeding her. Check your meals too if you are still breast feeding
Some meals even for adults take us to the loo so check the nutrition aspect.

For me, I noticed my son tends to poop after his normal bowel routine when I give milk in the morning or even mid morning milk/ribena so I have switched to afternoons.

Just check your routine with her feeding, ensure hygiene is "top notch" as well.

For the bolded, did u change brand of diaper/wipes/ introduced a new meal?

All is well.

Sabi mamas will respond soonest

Thanks so much mama. This started when she started creche. And I've spoken to the nannies to improve hygiene around her and what she takes but since I'm not there, I can't do much.

I doubt that it's her meals, she takes what she has been taking before now. And I didn't change her diaper, it seems the rashes started because of too much wiping after pooping.

The rashes really pained me because I had a bad experience with her sister and then a pediatrician told me to stop wipes which I did and it really helped. She's almost 10 months and this is the first time she's having nappy rash. After all my wahala, na wa o.

Thanks for the swift response.

Mamas please help. My 9-month old has been stooling for some time now but it worsened seriously on Thursday. I've taken her to the hospital twice in 2 weeks because of this. All they gave us were ORS and zinc. There has been no change ooo. Help me.

What else can I give her? At this stage, I don't mind going traditional. I read about scent leaves somewhere recently, is it safe to give it to her?

Also, between Thursday and today, she has developed serious nappy rashes and some part of her bum has wound that is red in colour. Please, I need suggestions on how to solve all these. Thanks.

Second pic, my 9 months old. Presently at the hospital with her waiting to see a doctor. She's been stooling seriously. Had to rush her down last night. Was asked to come back this morning.

Third pic, both of them on their hummer, lol.

Pics taken down. Thanks for the likes mamas.
