There is apparent security breach and tension in Kano as thugs were allowed to take over polling units across the state. Credible security source told DAILY NIGERIAN that the existing operational arrangement set by the commissioner of police, Mohammed Wakili, was dislodged on Friday night by the newly posted Deputy Inspector-General of Police Anthony Michael.

The Inspector-General Mohammed Adamu on Thursday deployed five deputy inspectors-general of police to oversee election security in parts of the country where rerun had been scheduled for Saturday.

Mr Adamu also directed zonal assistant inspectors-general and their respective commissioners of police in states where supplementary elections would hold to ensure that adequate security mechanisms are in place towards ensuring a safe and secure environment for the conduct of the elections.

Spokesman for Kano Police Command, Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the heavy presence the thugs in the polling units but said the police are doing their best to bring the situation under control.The re-run election is taking place in 28 local government areas, with 75 registration points in 207 polling units whose results were all cancelled. There is a total of 128,324 in the affected areas.

Yesterday in Kaduna, Atiku was adamant on selling NNPC if he emerge victorious. He always justify his argument with sells of NITEL. He forgot to mention NITEL was not genuinely sold until 2014, He forgot to mention the disastrous phase NITEL passed through, He forgot to mention how they left the disengaged staff stranded without benefit and pension, He forgot to mention how president Buhari led administration paid NITEL staff their benefit. For the purpose of clarification, let me summarise the selling process
1. 51% of the share was sold to international London limited. The sell was cancelled after they failed to pay
2. In 2003, management turnaround contract was given to Pentascope firm. The contract was cancelled in 2005 due to lack of adequate resource to run NITEL
3. In 2005, managerial contract was again offered to Orascom. It failed again in 2007 (the year Atiku left power)
4. In 2007, government sell it to subsidiary of transcorp. The sale was revoked in 2009
5. In 2014, the firm was sold to NATCOM group. Since then the group has been running it as NTEL. What I want people to further understand is NITEL didn't transformed to MTN, AIRTEL, GLO, ETISALAT e.t.c. all these telecommunication companies run independently.

Breaking: KDSG reinstates 24-hour curfew

The Kaduna State Government has reinstated a 24-hour curfew on Kaduna metropolis and environs, Kasuwan Magani, Kajuru, Kateri and Kachia. The curfew is effective from 11am today, Friday, 26th October 2018 and will remain in force until further notice

This is a necessary step to help maintain peace as we mourn the death of HRH Agom Adara, who we lost in the early hours of today to the criminals who abducted him last week.

The Kaduna State Government calls for calm in all our communities. The criminal elements who perpetrated this crime should not be allowed to divide us.

This is a struggle between good, decent, law-abiding people trying to uphold the peace and criminals who want to divide and destroy. It is not a struggle between religious or ethnic groups. Let no criminal find succour in faith or tribe.

Let us unite against every criminal activity. Let us stand together as human beings who have a right to live in peace.
