UDIOK: Reason before you talk....is not a clown matter, FGN is saying the right thing here...are you telling me naija don't have good dancers....it pains me seeing those harlots hired from south Africa to dance for their music, meanwhile these are the people we supported all of them started in Naija here but they will claim abroad....just like a proverbial fish when is small it will be in the stream when it grows big it goes to the River.....talking of dollars that aspect constitute dollars demand and scarcity if FGN could holistically looked into Medical and Educational system in Nigeria the demand for Dollars will drop drastically this days the volume of Nigerian students abroad is so high and the numbers of Nigerian traveling abroad for medical check up and for child delivery is so much...thereby mounting pressure on Naira due to dollar demand....Nigerians need to arise, National assembly need to make laws that will better the nation, FEC need to generate policies that will checkmate excesses of our people we are the ones destroying this nation.....it pains me to see the numbers of Nigerians going to school in common GHANA, TANZANIA, it bleeds my heart after that they will come back to work in Nigeria as what as expatriates.....this country is funny.....God should intervene and bring back our glory once again....Amen. brother i like your point and i dont wanna oppose or agrue with you but how many foreigners attend our universities? But why does the govt take pleasures in sending their kids abroad ... Do u know that some govt officials even send their kids to ghana .. common ghana . Its a shame . This govt cant tell these entertainers what to do .. they dont lead by example |

jt2010: your statements are generalist in nature and not address the core to the policy.
The local contents we are talking about is gear towards increase the amount of local contents in music videos and restriction shotting of music videos abroad.
because your vague statement of royalties is out of place, do the artists showing the video mostly in SA give them royalties. Are you saying the same video shot abroad are still not pirated.
Why will a foreign artists shot video in naija when naija artists are not willing to lead.
Common, we know their are challenges but do we keep complaining and not do anything. then why havent they tackled piracy .. i still dont get how stopping our entertainers from going abroad to shoot is even as important as investing in that sector ... Before anything can you point out one investment or contribution this govt have made for the sector ... Well i wont reply you anymore. I am not the only one proving this point as a matter of fact you are the only one saying otherwise ... That speaks volume |

jt2010: my previous post address the issue of government using this policy to macro manage the contents distributed to the Nigeria viewers and like noted, the policy take about growth of the local content in music videos and restriction not bad.
All of this are not casting stone, the artists should engage the government to work out balance policy than for one to just drop away the idea under no basic alternative. i doubt you have been reading my replies, there are a million ways to achieve a target and some methods would actually cause more problems as it is ... There are better ways to help that industry if the govt thinks it needs help and these method or strategy or whatever you might call it is the least of them all. Before they arrived at this conclusion have they even conducted a poll to ask nigerians who are the major stakeholders and consumers of this industry if they would prefer an all made nigeria production? Have they considered why they even go abroad for shoots? Have they tried to correct the possible problems prompting them to shoot abroad ? Whats the basis for their conclusion? Have they helped to curb piracy? Have they made the structure standard such that artistes are entitled to their royalties? Have they built structures that will attract foreign entertainers to shoot in nigeria frequently? |

Mr JT2010 tell the apc govt to build powerful event centres that can host the biggest award shows in the world so that giants such as MTV, CHANNEL O, BET who knows maybe grammys could be tempted to grace our country and help our already dead tourism sector .. thats the way a 21st century govt thinks and not by restricting people. Is this 1960? |

jt2010: who is the songs and video for? let us start from there. dont contradict yourself... In a business if your customers dont like your products you cant continue production of that product. so in the same vein if nigerians never liked the foreign shot videos or films these entertainers would have stopped doing so a long time ago. But the fact that foreign production increases these days it speaks volume of what the consumer wants. Which at the end of the day are nigerians . Come to think of it we have many videos shot in nigeria. Its just a matter of choice and the concept of ur video |

jt2010: How does the said growth in the industry reflect on our GDP. what about the billions of naira BOI advance to the industry.
The policy to my best view is aimed towards tapping the industry to boost Nigeria economy in terms of attract more tourist to Nigeria, employ the unemployed, improve man power and technical know how within the industry.
Nigeria is has a market for their music, so let us tap the advance when we still do it's call opportunity cost. in what manner will the policy help it .. by restricting its creativity Come on think ... That industry is already employing a lot of youths. The make up artistes are nigerians, the directors are nigerians, the models 80 percent are nigerians, the the producers are nigerians ... That industry has done its bit ... Even if clearence peters is going to heaven to shoot a video its still employed nigerians that makes up his crew so whats ur point . Ask yourself why mtv always host mama awards in south africa . Thats because they have event centres that match international standards. And out artistes go there to recieve awards yearly which means at least once a year entertainers from all over the globe visits south africa and spend their money in south africa which is good for the economy. WHY HAVEN'T THIS GOVT THOUGHT OF BUILDING AN EVENT CENTRE THAT WOULD BEAT THAT OF SOUTH AFRICANS SO THAT WE COULD HAVE A CHANCE TO ATTRACT THESE ENTERTAINMENT GIANTS TO GRCE OUR COUNTRY THEREBY HELPING OUR COUNTRY'S ECONOMY THROUGH TOURISM ... RESTRICTING MOVEMENT IS STUPID .. INVESTMENT IS KEY TO MAKE ANY INDUSTRY THRIVE |

jt2010: I will stop to reply you because u cannot seem to hold intellectual discussion. You talk about market forces but left trade balance out. you refer to green card and legal resident as American.
You state Trump is advocating protective trade and it is within his portfolio but Nigeria government cannot advocate a framework policy to boost local content.
Please am done with you on this subject. the entertainment industry is the only industry thats still growing rapidly despite the the economic downtown and non government interference so why do the govt think its wise to start placing some sort of embargo on the only industry selling nigeria positively in the international market ... We have a lot of more serious issues on ground .. let them focus on the more important ones , the entertainers never asked for this, so why bother themselves .. its better they channel that goodwill to more pressing issues . Thats what we yearn |

Eluwilussit: I don't really get what you are trying to say. You seem to be everywhere with your argument. Please, do tell, is there any bigger melting pot than America? What do you understand by American dream? How does anything i say amount to felony?
So you think that it is only in Nigeria that our entertainment products are consumed? Look, anything that will sell our products is a great idea.
It was u who brought in America, Canada and timber. I only tried to point out that one is import while the other is export. We increase our market by expanding our areas of operations. It is okay to shoot videos anywhere in the world.
It helps in creativity and adds some new dimensions to our talents and industry. Our government has failed succesively since independence. Therefore, it behooves them to allow market forces determine what happens in that sector.
A government that doesn't know its left from right cant decide how people spend their cash. Everything Trump is doing, is within his portfolio and it is not about where Americans go but more of who and what is coming into America. this one is very sensible, ur comment is very refreshing |

jt2010: so your advise is to wait to fix the country. Then we can use the same logic of yours for them to wait for the country to be fix before they sell their foreign shot videos after all we are a country and not a colonial. sometimes its good to question urself b4 delivering any statement ... What's more important to nigerians now? If you are being asked what needs urgent fixing right now in nigeria what would ur answer be? Is it davido or psquare dat goes to south africa to shoot videos for their music or nigerian hospitals where people die daily because of lack of facilities or an economy where a 1st class graduate is begging for a 30k per month job... Companies are folding up everyday, crime rate is increasing, our young girls hv legalized runs as a honest job .. its bad news everywhere.. the masses dont care where videos are shot even the entertainers are not asking for your help . jt2010: You are talking from your hatred for A PC and I can understand that.
The policy is gear towards restriction and note that musics, movies and music videos are contents, which can be use by the FG through the local content policy to macro manage and sharp viewers consumptions (naija hip hop) to boost Nigeria tourist and economic. why do so many Nigeria goes to south Africa for holiday if I may ask you?
Why did you think FG restrict /limitation access to forex? what about the auto policy and high cost of import duties on imported cars
did you think Africa hip hop was made possible by just the artist talents alone.
Think my friend, practice make perfect. dis what you typed was total rubbish ... Where is ur president ... Where did his son just graduate from? How is he promoting nigeria? Why are we like this in this country? Is common sense scarce in this clime or we just like being hypocrites .. hmm what i see these days online scares me .. i'm worried about the future of this country |

Read the story of the jews .. they were held captive for a long time in egypt but regained freedom after many year and became greater than egypt, back then in germany the jews were the economic power in germany and that was the reason adolf hitler killed them in millions and dispossessed them of their properties but look at the jews today, still strong as ever .... Igbos started life all over again with just 20 pounds after a devastating war that tore the region and its inhabitants apart yet look at the igbos today, still doing good and waxing stronger despite our limited political influence. |
