The end

At first I thought I was in heaven or something, because I never knew what it felt like to faint or to be unconscious.

To be sure that I wasn’t dead, i struggled to lift my left arm up to pinch myself. I felt the pain, that was how I confirmed that I was still alive.

My parents travelled to come see me in the hospital, my parents met my girlfriend too.
One evening, on my hospital bed, I started meditating and recalling what had happened days back.

I asked my self “what is the essence of life sef”

To cut the long story short, I proposed to my girlfriend while in bed, she said yes. We got married months later.

I did not open my eyes for like 10seconds, peeped in fear so as to see what was going on.

I saw them still trying to re-fix the funny gadget. Omo which kind wahala be this. I just Dey pray make police come. The fixed the device again, this time I did not take cover I was pretty sure it will not explode.

Before my brain could process the next info it got, I was already on the floor unconscious.

Yes, it exploded and I got hit. I woke up later and found myself in a hospital bed with my girlfriend beside me. I noticed I had cuts on my right and arm and burns too.

They brought out a funny looking device which looked like a very old phone, the attached it to the other door.

I was watching closely and keenly. The moment they attached it, the all walked backwards, like 7-8yards. Immediately that happened, I knew it was an explosive or C4.

Na so I bend down, use my hand cover my head , while leaning towards the wall of the door. I closed my eyes waiting to hear bangs and destructions but nothing happened.

I was hoping the glass door is bullet proofed, I was also hoping the door magically opens in front and not the back, I was hoping the robbers turn a blind eye on me, I was hoping I survived.

Omo the whole thing be like renewed hope, the same hope championed by jagaban.

The robbers finally gained full control, I was watching them from the glass door like say na action movie. They walked towards my door, pressed the button, it did not open. I shouted thank God.

These guys were wielding AK-47 and different types of ammunitions.

Little did I know that was a silly mistake. When I entered the door, it closed behind me and I was waiting for the front part to open so that I can quickly take cover.

But the door did not open for me to enter the main banking hall. I noticed that all the lights in and around the bank started going off one after the other.

I was trapped, I could see the robbers approaching the banks compound. I could also see the chaos inside the banking hall. Omo na one chance I don enter.

Years back, one quite afternoon around 3pm, I walked into a bank to make quick withdrawals which I thought should be simple and hassle free.

I wanted to withdrawal 25k so as to help my girlfriends now wife’s business. 25k seems very small but in 2006 it wasn’t. So, I got to this bank, greeted the security guys stationed at the gate entrance and walked towards the main bank building.

I tapped on the the door control, when it turned green, this is where problems started.

Before the door opened, I heard a loud bang I turned back and I saw the same security men I greeted running backwards and taking cover.

Armed robbers had gained entrance to the bank, I entered the door so that I can get to the banking hall quickly without been shot at the back.
