The "asslîçking" is necessary to make Kwankwaso comfortable about the arrangement.
Normally, Kwankwaso is bigger than Obi both politically and age-wise. But the reality is that Obi has a much higher chances of winning presidency (based on 2023 presidential election results).
You do not expect someone bigger than you that has agreed to be your subordinate (vice), to still be the one running up and down to your house (Kwankwaso's supporters will not like that).
So what Obi is doing is sensible, logical and politically responsible.

Kwankwaso is just using Obi to cruise because he knows Obi can never win and Kwankwaso is targeting presidency for 2031 when power will shift to the north
