PoliticsObiano's EASTER MESSAGE: Touch Your Neighbour With Love . by NwaEri(op): 4:35pm On Apr 20, 2019
As Christians all over the world mark the feast of Easter, the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has urged them to reach out and touch their neighbours with love.

In a special Easter Message delivered in Awka the state capital, Governor Obiano observed that there is no greater manifestation of unconditional love than the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the salvation of mankind which the feast of Easter represents.

Said he, "The essence of Easter is love. There's no incident in known history that is higher than a man laying down his own life for his neighbours. This is why Easter is about the love we show to our neighbours, no matter who they are."

According to him, "In dying on the cross, Jesus Christ demonstrated sacrificial love. In rising from the dead, he gave us hope and sealed our salvation. So, there can be no doubt that it is only love that can heal our broken world. And with love, we can make the society a better place for everyone."

Speaking further on the significance of Easter to Nigeria's national dilemma, Obiano observed that "We are at a point in our political development when some of our most intimidating challenges can be solved by a simple act of love. Love for our country and love for our neighbours and fellow citizens. We must demonstrate that love today. That is the spirit and essence of Easter."

Governor Obiano therefore exhorted Christians to live out the full meaning of Easter by eschewing those tendencies that endanger love and touching their neighbours in the same way that Christ touched mankind with love.

The Governor who has just resumed work after a little holiday explained that he purposely came back to celebrate Easter with Ndi Anambra because his heart belonged with the people.

PoliticsWillie Is Working: Political Adviser Rates Anambra Security Architecture High. by NwaEri(op): 9:20am On Apr 20, 2019
By: Egbuna Amuta

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Barrister Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, has said that the security architecture of Anambra state under the Obiano administration is the best in the country.

Barrister Obi-Okoye made this assertion in an ABS Radio and Television, News and Current Affairs audience participatory program; FACE THE PRESS.

He noted that before Governor Willie Obiano took over the mantle of leadership, Anambra state was under serious siege by daredevil armed robbers and kidnappers, pointing out that due to the deliberate and conscious efforts of the present administration criminality has been reduced to the barest minimum in the state.

The Political Adviser described the recent herdsmen menace in Anambra West local government area and assassination of the President General of Nimo community as unfortunate developments but noted that heinous crimes also occur in technologically advanced countries of the world.

Barrister Obi-Okoye however disclosed that the state government in conjunction with statutory security agencies is taking very strong measures to further guarantee protection of lives and property of the citizenry.

Foreign AffairsTwo Big Snakes Chased Liberian President Out Of Office. by NwaEri(op): 4:21pm On Apr 19, 2019
Wonders they say shall never cease as snakes have chased Liberian President, George Weah out of office.

A snake was found in Weah’s office, forcing him to work from his private residence, according to the BBC.

The President’s Press Secretary, Smith Toby told the BBC that on Wednesday two black snakes were found in the foreign affairs ministry building, site of the official office.

All staff have been told to stay away until 22 April.

“It’s just to make sure that crawling and creeping things get fumigated from the building,” Mr Toby said.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosts the office of the president, so it did an internal memo asking the staff to stay home while they do the fumigation,” he said.

“The snakes were never killed,” Mr. Toby said, “There was a little hole somewhere [through which] they made their way back.”

Police and presidential security were seen guarding Weah’s residence in the capital, Monrovia. A fleet of vehicles including escorts jeeps were parked outside.

Mr. Toby said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs started to fumigate on Friday.

“That building’s been there for years now, and [because of] the drainage system, the possibility of having things like snakes crawling in that building was high,” he said.

The president is definitely returning to his office on Monday after the fumigation whether or not the snakes are found and killed, Mr. Toby said.

PoliticsHerdsmen –farmers Crisis In Anam, Anambra West LGA, Has Been Resolved. by NwaEri(op): 1:25pm On Apr 09, 2019
1. The Anambra State Government is pleased to announce that the crisis between herdsmen and crop farmers in the Anam community in Anambra West Local Government Area, last week has been resolved.

2. The swift resolution followed the directive by Governor Willie Obiano to the Anambra State Security Council to bring the crisis to an end immediately and find out both the immediate and remote causes of the crisis and proffer suggestions on how to address them, so that a similar crisis will not erupt in the state in the future.

3. Following the Governor’s directive, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, the State Director of the Department of State Security, the Commanders of the Army and Naval formations in the state, the state Commandant of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security as well as the Special Assistant to the Governor on Security led other State Security Council members to end the dispute quickly.

4. Meaningful discussions were held with leaders of Anam Town and those of the herdsmen. It was apparent that the crisis was precipitated by the entry of some herdsmen from a neighbouring state into Anambra State without following the protocol guiding the conduct of herdsmen in the state.

5. For instance, they entered Anam without informing the local leaders of the herdsmen association who would have registered them as members and inform them of the rules of doing cattle business in Anambra State. The consequence was that the new entrants violated the rules in a repugnant manner and caused a breach of the peace.

6. Anambra State has for years adopted a Code of Conduct for herdsmen and crop farmers in the state which has proved exceedingly effective in determining the excellent relations between these groups of people because both the spirit and letter of the Code are widely acknowledged to be just and fair and the implementation done evenhandedly and transparently. The faithful implementation of this Code is considered one of the reasons our state has over the years been free of the clashes between herdsmen and crop farmers experienced in different parts of the country.

7. Last week’s incident in Anam is odd. The people and Government of Anambra State deeply regret the occurrence. While commiserating with victims, we will not leave any person or group of persons in doubt about the determination and capacity of the state government to bring the culprits to book and make them feel the full weight of the law.

8. The State Government, however, notes with dissatisfaction that the reports in a section of the media about the scope and dimension of the crisis in Anam are exaggerated. The section of the media would have done a better job if the journalists who reported the incident had bothered to speak to any government official to obtain the facts and therefore have a fuller picture of what transpired. The state government operates an open door policy and enjoys an excellent relationship with the media.

9. It is, therefore, irregular that reports on a matter as sensitive and grave as the security situation in the state could be written and published without the authors seeking to obtain the government position. The media must at all times be alive to their social responsibility, especially in these trying times. This is not the time for sensationalism.

10. The Anambra State Government thanks all the people and groups that contributed to the successful resolution of the crisis last week in Anam between herdsmen and crop farmers. We thank in particular the Traditional Rulers in the Anam Community, the Presidents General of Town Unions, the security agencies and Ndi Anambra at home and abroad who, as usual, displayed a healthy interest in the affairs of their beloved state which remains Nigeria’s safest and most peaceful state. The Good Lord will continue to protect, guide and bless us all.
