Solskjær on if Jadon Sancho will feature: "Yeah, of course. Depending on how the game goes and if there's injuries and stuff. He's trained for a week, he's looking sharp and ready to go." |
Solskjær on the lineup: "They're [Leeds] physically very strong and you need to have players who are fit ourselves. Scott [McTominay] hasn't played a lot in pre-season because of slight niggles but he's raring to go. We'll need his physical presence." |

Solskjær on Jadon Sancho: "It is too soon to start, he has had a holiday after the Euros, been ill and training with us for four days which is not really enough for 90 mins against Leeds. He is ready to come on and make a difference." - BT |

Solskjær: "Tim (Heaton) has done well. Jadon [Sancho] has come in and done very good this week. Maybe a little bit too early, I’ll see how he is. I’d say you’ll see him. He’s definitely involved in the squad.” |
Solskjær: “Jesse should be [doing a] test to release very soon, hopefully he’s got rid of the virus. Dean is still feeling a little bit the after effects, so we’ve had to shut him down a little bit and he’ll get going very soon.” |
Solskjær: “I’m impressed by his (Jones) resilience in training. We have to manage the workload early on. “I’ve been part of that myself after being out for the best part of a year and a little bit more than that. He’s been so determined and worked so hard. “Now is not the time to rush things, now is the time to really do the last bit perfectly. As I said, Reserve games, Under-23s, maybe behind closed doors. “He’s already had in-house games against the 23s so it’s looking good.” |
Solskjær: "If you want to be successful, that’s [consistently training hard] the discipline, that’s what you need and hopefully, and it looks like it, they’ve [Manchester United players] had a horrible feeling in their stomach as I’ve had this summer." |
Solskjær: "We need that [toughness] to be able to challenge at the top. We can’t be too nice. We can’t have, ‘oh, there’s another game next week’ – every single game and every single training, it matters." |
Solskjær: "The world hasn’t been perfect, so it’s quarantine and isolation and it’s a difficult situation for them [the players], but I’m sure we’ll reap the benefits when they really get going." |
Solskjær: "Edinson [Cavani] was a different matter, that’s personal reasons. But we’re all, I wouldn’t say that we give them extra time off, we need a product, we need players to play well, we need them to be fresh." |
Solskjær: "I always go for a minimum of three weeks [that] you need for a break to mentally switch off and physically recharge. Some [players] have had four weeks, some have had five for different reasons, some for personal reasons." |
Solskjær: "Footballers play 60 or 70 games at a higher intensity level, more scrutiny on social media, they need to switch off, we have to look after players. We can’t add games and add games and add games and say, 'if you’re successful that means you have less time'." |
Solskjær: "It’s important, imperative in fact in the Premier League that you do have that robustness. I don’t want my players to break anyone’s noses but you need to make sure you’re felt out there. You can’t just play nice football." |
Solskjær: "This club has done it [developed young players] with so many players, Cristiano [Ronaldo] was one of the prime examples of coming in as a kid and getting this physical development with the quality of staff that I’ve got." |
Solskjær: "Mason [Greenwood] is a combination of age, because he is just filling out as a young boy, but the common denominator is the work they [the players] do with the fitness staff here. I’ve got some unbelievable staff." |
Solskjær: "I think he [Van de Beek] felt the Premier League is different and that he needs to build up that physical strength. He’s looking good. He’s still not lost his endurance and his movement, so that’s very good." |
Solskjær: "Last season was disappointing but I am very confident in what I see from Anthony [Martial]. I like what I see from him in training, what I see in the gym. He has the bit between his teeth again." |
