Following the success of the regional security outfit codenamed Amotekun and other regional initiatives, Southwest States have agreed to launch regional railway and electricity projects. At the end of a two-day conference on the subjects in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Thursday, the six States agreed to pursue regional power and rail projects to deliver economic and social benefits to the region. Organised by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission in collaboration with Odu’a Investments Company Ltd., the conference, which was hosted by the Ondo State Investments Promotion Agency (ODSIPA) highlighted the need for each state to build projects in the two sectors and build inter-connectivity among them. Experts and commissioners for power and transport in the states gave insights to models that can work, financing options and the need to develop a uniform legal framework for the projects in order to attract the right investors and avoid legal lacuna. The DAWN Director General Seye Oyeleye said the best time for Southwest to build its rail system and power infrastructures was in 1958, stressing that the next best time to do it was now.

....... still on Nigeria’s First Mass Transit Electric Buses. OCEL has also taken delivery of the charging stations and spare parts necessary to ensure their effective operation. Over the next seven years, and through the rollout of over 12,000 buses, this initiative will transition the current combustion mass transit buses to electric, starting in Lagos State and eventually across the country. The Oando -Yutong Joint Venture Partnership is expected to, among others, “manufacture and deployment of additional electric buses during the Pilot and Roll-out phases of the partnership with Lagos State through LAMATA; design and facilitate training programs targeted at the following critical stakeholders – bus drivers, bus operators, and regulators including but not limited to LAMATA and the Ministry of Transport.

Oando take delivery of Nigeria’s first mass transit Electric Buses. “Our electric vehicles offer outstanding performance due to their advanced technology capabilities and testing for different terrains; all of which make our buses particularly well suited for use as a public transportation option in Nigeria.” - OANDO Oando Clean Energy Limited (OCEL) and the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) are working together on this project.

airmark: ![]() .....how some folks reason needs to be studied eh. Abike was briefed by NEMA DG, yet same Abike is the one they deliberately prefer to cook for a reason well known to all and sundry. NEMA is responsible for the Evacuation primarily, because the Agency is the one handling Transportation and other Logistics, but its always Abike that must be dragged! |
A001:The Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the NEC meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. According to the minister, the NEC concluded in its meeting that it is not a favourable time for the action. She stated that the Council deliberated on the matter and resolved that it cannot be removed for now, but it equally agreed on the need to continue the discussion on the matter and the necessary preparatory work in conjunction with states and representatives of the incoming administration. Ahmed said, “What I said is that it is not going to be removed now; which means it is not going to be removed before the transition is completed. But then the two laws that have inadvertently made the provision that we should exit (subsidy) by June. “So, if the committee’s work, which will include the representatives of the incoming administration determine that the removal can be done by June, then the work plan would be designed to exit as at June. “But if the determination is that the period needs to be extended, it will mean that, as a country, we will have to revisit the Appropriation Act because the 2023 Budget only made provision up to June. “So, if we are extending beyond June, it means we have to revisit the Appropriation Act and do a Supplementary or amend the bill and also the PIA.” https://www.channelstv.com/2023/04/27/breaking-nec-suspends-removal-of-fuel-subsidy/ |

GloriousGbola:I agree with everyone of you, Ebonyi don't need Airport right now to be honest. Lagos State is working on another deep seaport in Badagry instead of committing more attention and resources on proposed Ibeju-Lekki Airport cos the former will be more essential and vital to economy of the state. Notwithstanding though, that Airport fine eh! |
afrodoc2: ![]() its called signature project Doc..... not Erin funfun. |

GloriousGbola:...apparently not now but in the future. Investors can conveniently fly from Lagos/Abuja directly to Ebonyi State now. They don't need landing in another state and connect to Ebonyi via road again. |
![]() First commercial Airline landed at the Airport today.... of course its Air Peace.
|
![]() I know izzou my good brother doesn't fancy the project but Umahi finished works here.
