I am yoruba and a christian. I find it amazing how some people say the northerners are tribal for voting for Buhari and they voted for GEJ because they cannot vote for a northerner. Accepting that you voted for GEJ because he is a southerner is, to me, a self confession of full blown tribalism. Two perspectives were prevalent during the last elections: First was deep tribal sentiments and the second was deep religious sentiments. Both are parocial and sad. The requirements for good leadership have nothing to do with race or religion. Many good leaders have been from divers faiths and beliefs. Nigeria has produced good and bad leaders from both North and South. GEJ is a southerner and is currently widely believed not to be a good leader. Balarabe Musa is a northerner and is considered to have led well.

Lets move forward and seek good leaders regardless of where they are from or whether they are christian or muslim. The good of Nigeria is what we seek. During the Occupy Nigeria protests, christian and muslim leaders organised and led the protest sucessfully. Serious Nigerians will purge themselves of tribalism and religious bias when choosing leaders.
