Pressing should be part if a manager's tactical plan and modern football encourages pressing. In fact, some managers like Rangnick, Klopp and Guardiola have built their teams on high pressing and turnover. But the issue now is when and how to press. Rashford hardly presses at.

So in what way was ystday's horrendous play from Man United as a whole his fault.

3yrs ago under Ten Hag he scored 30 goals in all competition and 15 assist.
The next season he had a terrible season no doubt. He left on loan to Villa and did well. Came back and under Amorim he scored 3 goals in 3 matches and just bcus of disciplinary attitude Amorim otracize him from the team by not naming him in the squad for Man City which anger Rashford and he said he needs to test himself elsewhere.
We all saw how he performed at Barcelona.
Barca not signing him was bcus of his huge wage which is more than their best players of Yamal and Raphinha.

Now he's back to United and things are not going well again even though he's now putting effort more than before.
Man United problem is beyond redeemable for now, stop scapegoating Rashford.

Based on yesterday's match, Rashford wasn't needed. Besides squad selection for the season should be based on a player's behavior off and on the pitch.

What effort is he putting in? Haven't you still seen that Rashford doesn't press like his other team mates like Cunha and the rest? Cunha, Mbeumo and Bruno press much better than Rashford. Now, Rashford wasn't needed in yesterday's game, not even in the squad for this season because his past character and discipline can affect the morale of the team and lead to bad results. Right now, any player can feel that he can behave anyhow and still walk back into the team easily. This is one of the reasons why I say Carrick is clueless.

In yesterday's game, Carrick's tactical set up was so poor that Tottenham were all over United especially in the first half. He played a 4-4-2 with Bruno given a free role and was interchanging with Cunha in the first half. In the second half Bruno played more through the middle. The only positive of that game was Baleba who brought stability to the midfield.

Towards the end of the game before Tottenham equalized he should have brought in a defender for one of his forwards and play a very low block to cut off passes and crosses to Solanke who was the main threat yesterday but I don't understand what he was thinking. De Zerbi brought on Mateus Fernades for Senesi, and piled on the pressure but Carrick did nothing. We have seen this tactical staleness against other teams. This is not the first, second and I know this will not be the last. This is the reason he was sacked at Middlesbrough. He is so confused and clueless in games and his subs are usually calamitous. Bringing on Rashford after the goal was just useless and further showed how clueless he is.

Tighten the frail defence. Take off one of the forwards and switch to a 5 man defence with the few minutes left. That's game management especially after De Zerbi threw in the kitchen sink.

Do not bring Rashford on Carrick. You should have strengthened the defence when De Zerbi brought on Mateus Fernandes for the defender.

Baleba is just something else. This guy sprays passes from midfield with precision. He has changed the midfield drastically. Wish he stays fit and in form.
