He was doing well last season.

What pedigree got Arteta this far at Arsenal? Infact, he would have been sacked midway into his second season if it were United.

Como is a smaller club compared to United so they gat no much pressure and can afford to trial with coaches and give them time to perfect their coaching skills. Fabregas has done so well at Como in a short time.


Arteta at Arsenal is a story of a serial bottler who later became a Champion. The Management gave him time and stuck with him but it did work also because of some of his tactics/mentality and because his mentor (Guardiola) was dominating the EPL.

Most times it depends mostly on the management of those clubs and that's why I dont blame Carrick that much. I blame the people who employed him. Will they give him time? I dont know. Will he win his first title in 5/6 years time like Arteta? I dont know. Because we don't know the future we judge based on antecedents. Ancelotti at Everton wasn't because he wasn't a proven coach.
What I know is that Carrick doesn't have the tactics to win or compete for titles at United especially in 4 competitions. Anyone expecting anything from Carrick is just building castles in the air. With good tactics he should have at least come out with a draw in this game.

Yes but for United you have to get a coach with achievements, not a below mediocre coach like Carrick. Please never compare Carrick to Zidane even before he won the UCL as Manager. He was Assistant to Ancelotti when Real Madrid won the La Decima. Carrick has not achieved anything as a coach or an Assistant Coach other than being sacked for his tactics at Middlesbrough.

I wonder why people are expecting miracles from him. Infact this game showed his tactical staleness. Maresca showed he is way better than him.

Carrick only achieved 3rd position last season because he took over when United were in just one competition and played one game per week. Besides he played to the strength of the team (counterattack)and won games. Very soon, fans who supported him will call for his sack. Of course just 4 points in 5 games is a bad start
