@ pete on the no of lawyers in d profession; the council of legal education publishes the no of lawyers admitted to the bar each yr & the total no up to the current yr in the bulletin given to new lawyers. NBA secretariat also publishes the number of their members. I don't know of their websites |
@ MEGASTU UR SIMPLY BEING ARROGANT. If u don't know what d average lawyer earns in a law firm then ur also ignorant. I know banwo & ighodalo pays corpers N30k & more but, that's one of d few exceptions. U were only lucky to have beat 20 others to clinch a job in d firm & be retained. A classmate of mine who beat 5,000 others to win d co. Law award in law sch was picked 4 nysc by a bank but, after service it took him a yr to get a job of N50k. I once attended an interview @ keyamo's law firm where i met a colleague @ d law sch who made a 1st class. He told us that he had worked in 2 law firms @ a salary of N30k each. Ironically d 1st guy to make it on his own from that set was a guy who became famous when he made a grammatical error in d ls auditorium. I beg u stop this attitude of portraying other lawyers as dullards simply because ur just lucky. Gani made a 3rd class in sch. Many of those ppl u condemn will surely surpass u in future. No dullard can pass thru law sch |
@ sagamite: i think young lawyers r so shocked by d harsh treatment & low wages that welcome them into d profession that most opt out. Some leave d country, some leave to other sectors & others leave to pursue business. Those who remain r those from poor homes who cannot finance a struggle. Nigeria has produced about 80,000 lawyers in 50yrs. There r about 40,000 lawyers in the NBA. This represents d no of lawyers that r alive & resident in nigeria. D no of lawyers in actual legal practice in nigeria is less than 20,000. Legal practice is a multi-billion naira industry dominated by a few popular names. In reality most of d job is done by d unknown young lawyers but, d money never trickles down to those who do d job |
Do u even have d slightest idea of d topic under discussion here? Do they pay lawyers N20k in europe? We're talking of some of d most focused, hardworking & talented segment of your population. ppl who spent 6yrs in training. Do u know d average pay of an unskilled factory worker in lagos is N25k, a driver is N30k, yet lawyers earn N25k. a nation that's so anti education can never grow |
I was admitted to the bar in 2007. My 1st salary was N20k. Since then i have traversed 8 law firms in lagos. @ my peak i earned 40k. Law practice is full of oppression & exploitation. If i begin to chronicle my oddyssey i will not finish by next yr. We the youth have done our best 4 this country however, the elders r hell-bent on ruining it. Nigeria will never grow |
The solution to adultery and polygamy is for women to leave other women's husbands alone. The greatest threat to the marriage institution globally is unscrupulous women who will stop @ nothing to get @ a man's money. If there's no one selling there'll be no one buying. Shikena |
@ poster = those women are simply stupid and greedy. Theya marry the richest man they can find irrespective of whether he is married or not. Yaradua's daughters all married governors as 2nd and 3rd wives just to satisfy their greed. I can never marry 2 women. Nobody should ban polygamy. Those stupid enough to go into it should have themselves to blame |
@ miss diva : why do women ask such questions when they already know the answer? Well, i'll tell you again. The love of money. Women still see themselves as chattel to be enjoyed by the purchaser. Thus they sell thier claim to equality & dare not question a man about his affairs with other women. Equality comes with responsibilty, you know. ![]() |
This post is arrant nonsense. the fact that it was poted by a woman suggesting ways to deal with an erring wife shows it's totally in-effective and that's why she suggested it. personally i believe in communication. talk things over, place your cards on the table, know what your woman is protesting about and make as much compromise as neccessarry just to restore a peaceful loving relationship. where this fails it means the other partner is fed up. at this point my solution is to end the relationship. there's no point enduring a bad situation that won't improve |
Quote from: Aloy.Emeka on Yesterday at 02:58:35 PM On the other hand, female doctors do not easily get married because of their fervent attitude. Why do they usually have attitude? Really? What kind of attitude do you mean? Do you mean they have an attitude that they think they are too independent and educated? Well I hope all men don't have this view. Now I have a question to the men: Does a women being a doctor make her more attractive to you? Would you want to marry a doctor? I sometimes hear that men don't like women who are too educated b/c they are too independent. I feel like no matter how educated a women is, her role as a wife and mother comes before her career. I don't want to get married now since I'm only in my first year, but I hope to be able to find someone by the time I graduate. I don't want to wait till after my residency, b/c I'd be almost 30 then. @ above poster while studying law in the university i used to dream of marrying a doctor. i then asked a medical student out . she turned out the most boring girl i ever dated, yet her ego was so huge. i hurriedly cut off the contact and perished the dream of dating or marrying a doc. i have male doctor friends and ive interacted with some female doctors. from my experience, while the guys are fun to be with i wouldn't get romantically involved with a female doctor for a million dollars. |
Please Mr. poster, what actually led to the quarrel ?We shouldn't rush to a decision without knowing the facts |
Atuche should not resign. From the three issues raised against his bank i see nothing he's done to warrant his removal by the CBN. Removal of bank directors is not at the whims of a CBN governor but, can only be done where the directors have contravened specific provisions of the BOFIA, the CAMA or the Money Laundering Act. i do not think Atuche can be validly removed for the loss incurred by a bank in which his bank acquired controlling shares. afterall, he is not the M.D of Spring bank or is he? i think Atuche has a good case and he has a duty to refuse to resign and to defend his intergrity |
