africaken254: Ghana are cowards ,AU told you to deploy your troops to somalia. you delayed your deployment (which never happened)until uganda opted to deploy its troop.so stop lecturing me about pan-africanism. if those cowards you call your army could have deployed in somalia like sierra leoneans troops then we could have a discourse on the matter
Our police are there as we speak and what was Nigeria doing at the time plus did u see any country from other African country outside of West Africa leading ECOWAS troops. Ghana is not coward for sure, we think strategically. Stop this hate speeches I am not lecturing u on Pan-Africanism just pointing out simple interest of a nation, France is doing well when it comes to their interest.
ActivateKruger: The reason why France still has a saying in these countries is because of the corrupt leaders in those countries who keep their wealth in France.... Whatever deal they would have signed is useless if those guys would decide to have a backbone.. Anyway, all those countries have no backbones.
Regime change. All regimes on the continent must make deals to benefit the continent. If not other African countries should band together for regime change. We tried the carrot we got some mix result, it time for the stick.
africaken254: it amazes me how little most of you understand of what going around the world.what colonia tax does qatar,UAE,South korea, japan e.t.c to have american force stationed in their countries !.have those countries being hindered in the progress militarily or economically ,in your opinion what astonishing progress have those who are independent achieve when it comes to securing their people.south africa recently left CAR citizens to be butchered
Ghana does not pay tax to Briton and stop that low self esteem, it could enslave u mentally.
Henry240: Perhaps if you take out time to read, the agreements France had with thier colonies pre-independence, you won't be asking this question.
While you're at it, read up on their currency and the post-independence relationship.
British and French colonial governments do not run the same way.
You lot should take out time to read up on things you're ignorant about before making bold claims on the internet.
Thanks.
What bargaining power did those colonies have in that negotiation And u think France will allow u to develop to a stage u can say u are not going to pay colonial tax. It simple, wtf*** is the meaning of independence for u guys. If the resources is not being used to benefit the locals and Africans, Nigeria and other African countries should start thinking about regime change for the leaders who do not corporate. France has been using this tactics for decades it about time we rewrote the rules.
jln115: Take it from a South African , it would be a terrible idea, firstly we never manufacture the Olifant from scratch but used existing centurion platforms which basically means we can't build any more Olifant, so that would mean you would need to buy from our Surplus stocks, which consist of only Mk1As which are basically WW2 Centurions.
The only time it would be worth while is getting your hands on the mk1b or mk2 versions.....which i guarantee we would never sell.
Upgrading your existing T72s and Vickers might be a better idea
The important phrase, help develop better tanks that means I am aware of the short comings.
Think about it, the money will stay in Africa. It will help build better tanks than the T72 plus open new areas of military corporation. Two of Africa's Strong economies and military teaming up. The rest of the countries will fall in line. All those African Countries will think again about paying colonial tax to France.
I know the argument is going to start. before u start think about the pros and cons. Nigeria should consider this SA tank or a mordinised version. It better than anything you'v got. Everyone is proud about what they'v got but let be honest, It cost less than tanks in it range and the Americans are not going to ever sell u their Abrams Tank at least for the moment. So called claimed War Crimes remember.
The equipment which will comprise four patrol boats with spare parts, four vehicle-mounted machine guns plus mounting racks , tools and spare parts as well as 120,000 rounds of Amour-Piecing Incendiary (API) over a three year period.
africaken: my opinion is if an individual can do what that young man did ,what about an institution like the ghanian government .this is what we are lacking in africa strong government leadership and progressive
