Politics / Re: B’haram May Link Up With ISIS —australian Negotiator by ochilikoko(m): 4:49am On Aug 28, 2014 |
gbolademi: n Australian hostage negotiator, Dr. Stephen Davis, has warned that Boko Haram may establish links with two vicious terror groups- Al Shabaab and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria- if not effectively checked now by the Nigerian government.
Al Shabaab, the militant wing of the Somali Council of Islamic Court, aligned with Al-Qaeda and took over most of Southern Somalia in the second half of 2006. The ISIS, on its part, is an Iraqi group that stands with Al-Qaeda as the most vicious Jihad group in the world.
Davis had visited Nigeria to negotiate the release of the over 200 schoolgirls abducted since April by Boko Haram insurgents.
He previously worked as a negotiator for Nigerian government under ex-Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Shehu Yar’Adua administrations during the Niger-Delta militants uprising in the South-South.
Davis, in an interview posted on Wednesday by Radio Australia, said that the best ways to stop Boko Haram insurgency were to block its sources of funding and tracking down its sponsors.
He identified banks and some Nigerian politicians as the major providers of funds to the insurgents.
The Australian claimed that many of the politicians sponsoring the insurgency were in the opposition, adding that it would be difficult for President Goodluck Jonathan to arrest and prosecute them.
He argued that should Jonathan try to order their arrest, it would be misconstrued as a political attempt to rig the 2015 elections.
Davis said, “That makes it easier in some ways as they can be arrested, but of course the onus of proof is high and many are in opposition, so if the President moves against them, he would be accused of trying to rig the elections due early next year.
“So, I think this (insurgency) will run through to the election unabated. These politicians think that if they win power they can turn these terrorists off, but this has mutated.
“It’s no longer a case of Muslims purifying by killing off Christians. They are just killing indiscriminately, beheading, disembowelling people – men, women and children and whole villages.”
According to the negotiator, Boko Haram is growing out of the control of the politicians sponsoring it.
He warned that, as it is the trend with terrorist groups in Somalia, South Sudan and Egypt, the Boko Haram insurgents might soon link up with the ISIS and Al Shabaab.
Davis added, “I would say it’s almost beyond the control of the political sponsors now.
“Terror groups are linking up in Somalia, southern Sudan, Egypt and we have fairly strong evidence they are talking with ISIS members.
“They will link up with ISIS and Al Shabaab and I think that what we are seeing in that region is the new homeland of radical Islam in the world.”
The Perth-based international negotiator claimed he survived months of extreme danger in trying to rescue the 200 abducted schoolgirls.
Davis, who returned from a four-month sojourn with rare footage of the intense fighting in the North-East, said his life was threatened more than once, but his Australian passport saved him.
“When confronted by groups with an AK-47 in my face they’d say, ‘you are American, we have to kill you,” Davis said.
“When you say, no I’m not American, they think you are British, and say you will still die, but when I said I’m Australian, they said that’s all right.
“I have no idea why but it’s certainly been helpful.”
He however blamed the aborted rescue of the schoolgirls on sabotage.
“I made a few telephone calls to the Boko Haram commanders and they confirmed they were in possession of the girls,” Davis said.
“They told me they would be prepared to release some as a goodwill gesture towards a peace deal with the government, so I went to Nigeria on the basis of being able to secure their release,” he added.
According to him, the insurgents lived up to their promise, but the rescue was sabotaged.
He said, “The girls were there, 60 girls. There were 20 vehicles with girls. We travelled for four-and-a-half hours to reach them, but 15 minutes before we arrived, they were kidnapped again by another group who wanted to cash in on a reward.
“The police had offered a reward of several million naira just 24 hours before we went to pick them up. I understand, from the Boko Haram commanders I spoke to, the girls eventually ended up back with them.
“I don’t know what happened to the group that took them but I suspect it wasn’t good.” He identified banks and some Nigerian politicians as the major providers of funds to the insurgents. 1 Like |

seguntijan: The three largest religions in the world which are islam, christianity and buddism DO NOT ENCOURAGE VIOLENCE. The terrorism that is going on in the world today is as a result of the evil and selfish desires of some politicians. why we hear of terrorism in Islamic countries today is because of political instability. Al queada, boko haram, and al shabad are all groups sponsored by political power mongers. They use islam to brain wash young minds to achieve their evil desires because they every religious person can die for his/her religion. Pakistan, iraq, iran, afganistan, syria, egypt, sudan and our Nigeria are all countries with political instabilities. Where evil men try to get the attention of the government by throwing bombs to kill the innocent people. If you dont believe me, it might surprise you to know that united arab emirates(dubai),malaysia, qartar and indonesia are also islamic countries, but have you ever heared of terrorism there?. Infact most people that are pointing accusing fingers on islam will pack their loads and run to dubai if given the chance. Saudi arabia is the headquarters of islam, dont you think if islam teaches violence then saudi arabia will be more violent than countries like iran, pakistan etc. But it cant happen because saudi arabia practises monarchy and therefore no room for bloody thirsty politicians. Osama was killed just few meters away from the pakistani military barrack, which means he has some backings in the government and in the military. Thesame goes to shekau he has spys in the military that's why he looks invinsible. I know by now some people might be thinking of the 9:11 attack that happen in usa. They did it so that the usa will quickly withdraw their troops in the middle east and then the politicians will have a free group to use the minds of the young people to inflict terror on people, then the government will get their attention. Have you ever heard of an 80 or 60 year old suicide bomber? I dont think so. Or if they exist it means they are few. They cant use the elderly people because they know that they have studied the quran cover to cover, so it becomes hard to brainwash them. Boko haram said they want islamic rule in northern nigeria and western education is a sin and the best way to tell the nigerian government this is by bombing and killing christians and the fellow muslims. Just recently a muslim nigerian airforce personel was killed, the late emir of kano was targeted, a senator's wife was also taken. Does this make sense to you? If you want islamic rule, then why go after your islamic leaders. If they have no politcal links then i guess most of their attacks should be in southern nigeria where christians are many than in the north. We should respect one another believe, wether jesus christ is the son of God or not. We should also know that what seem right before you might be wrong before someone else and vice versa. I think the once respected nigerian army that fought for 3 years to be together and declared peace in sieria loane, ivory coast, dafur, zimbabwe and liberia can end boko haram in just 3 month if they dont have spy. Nigerian people north, south, east and west we should not fight each other because of some evil politicians. We should all pray that we scale through this challenge and by God's grace boko haram shall be history. INSHA ALLAH. God bless the federal repulblic of Nigeria. Long live Nigeria How many countries in the World is politically stable? Young man, ISLAM is a RELIGION of Peace Ewu keep deceiving your self |

ArabaONE: The National Leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has condemned the act of impunity, indiscipline and political rascality by members of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the Edo State House of Assembly, saying that such actions negate the rule of law and must not be seen to be rewarded. The National Chairman of APC, Chief John Odigie Oyegun disclosed this Monday when he led some National Leaders of the Party on a solidarity visit to the governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole at Government House, Benin City. He said, “After due considerations at a meeting held on Friday, we decided that it was immediate and urgent that we pay a visit to you, to come and tell you and of course the Legislators that we know what you have been passing through, we understand and we are glad with the way you have been managing what you have been going through. “This kind of rascality and indiscipline must not be seen to be rewarded. Against all odds, you have remained firm and this is the spirit of the new APC. Oyegun also said that, “Besides the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, you are the most current target of attack in their quest to destabilize APC Governors. For this simple reason you are not alone. “What the Party, APC has come to realise is a properly mapped out war by the PDP to distabilise the APC. According to Oyegun, “The APC has decided strongly that it is time that this rascality of the PDP should have consequences. So, we are not going to sit back any more and roll over and accept what is being dished out to us because the level of impunity is becoming totally unacceptable”. “The rate at which institutions of state, especially security institutions, are being undermined and destroyed can no longer be accepted and tolerated”, he asserted. “We read in newspapers, the way the Police have been used to protect eight ( 0r nine (9) people against lawful decisions of court, against lawful and majority controlled House of Assembly”. Oyegun urged the Comrade Governor to continue with the provision of good governance to the people of the state, stressing that the leadership of APC will continue to give him their support. According to him, “We have come to Edo State to let you know that the Party is fully behind you”. Responding, Governor Adams Oshiomhole on behalf of the State and Leadership of the Legislature thanked the National Chairman, Chief Oyegun and other members for leading a high power delegation of APC on a Solidarity visit to Government House. He said, “Let me thank you sir, for your decision to pay us a visit and all that you have said. Of course, this is your state, you know the actors and all that are involved. You are very familiar with the environment and you are one of the leaders of Edo Community. “I think what people refer to basically as crisis in Edo State is something so described because we are not English people and we do not have the right words to use. Oshiomhole said, “My view is that, the refusal by four (4) suspended members of the PDP of a 24 member House would be a decision validly taken by their own House on the basis of rules governing the House that they are a part of, so, their insubordination has not in any way translated to a crisis. Oshiomhole added, “Ordinarily, this should be seen as the internal affairs of the House that should bother only the members of the house. “Whether the House chooses to suspend a member or appoint a member on assignment or whatever, given the principles of separation of powers, that should not have anything to do with anyone but members of the House, particularly when it has become traditional that various Houses of the Assembly at one time or the other either for the right reasons or the wrong reasons, at the State and even at the National level have had course to suspend their members and it has never become an issue leading to the blockade of the economy of the state. Governor Oshiomhole argued that “It is more of the way the Police managed or intervened in the suspension and providing security cover to force these people into the House that has become an issue. “I think you hit the nail on the head when you condemned the act of reckless misuse of State apparatus, taking the instruments of coercion, such as the Police because in a democracy, the police itself must be seen as instruments of creation of the law and the protection of lives and property and not otherwise”. He said, “It is these four (4) PDP members now six that first approached the court. One approached the State High Court, the others approached the Federal High Court, asking the court for their protection, restraining the speaker from declaring their seats vacant and taking disciplinary actions against them. Governor Oshiomhole also explained that the court upheld their first prayer that they should not declare their seats vacant but that on disciplinary actions, the Court cannot direct the House on acts of misconduct by their members. “The House in line with their rules went ahead to suspend the four PDP members who had refused to obey the suspension even when the 15 APC lawmakers had sought judicial intervention and of course, if they were to resolve to self help in a 24 member House, and four or five were suspended, these five do not have the capacity to overwhelm the majority members physically. “Whereas the suspended four PDP Lawmakers have continued to enjoy the ruling of the Federal High Court that says that their seats should not be declared vacant, they have refused to obey the order of the State High Court”. On the delegation of the National Chairman were APC Leader, Dr Ogbonanya Onu, River State Governor, Dr. Rotimi Amaechi, Former Kwara State Governor, Senator Bukola Saraki, APC National Secretary, Mainala Boni, National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, Minority Leader House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila amongst others. keep deceiving the sinking man. Nyako that needed you ppls help most have not even received a consolation message from the Janjaweedian. APC on the brink 1 Like |

Opeomoope: LEGISLATORS in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly on Monday adopted alleged impeachment offences to be served on Governor Tanko Al-Makura. The development coincided with the submission of the report of the panel that investigated impeachment allegations against Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako. Both Al-Makura and Nyako belong to the opposition All Progressives Congress. Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Musa Ahmed, on Monday, directed the Clerk of the House to serve the governor with notice of impeachment for acts of gross misconduct. The Speaker’s directive followed a motion of public interest raised by the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Mr.Yahaya Usman (PDP-Umaisha/Ugya), during the house plenary in Lafia. The lawmaker presented a document containing allegations of gross misconduct against the governor, which he said was signed by 20 of the 24 members of the Assembly. He said “I am on my feet to raise a motion under a matter of public interest and I will go direct to read the document I have in my hand. This is a notice of impeachment of Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State for gross misconduct. “And for the violation of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, today being the 14th July, 2014, the 20 members of the 24 members of this House unanimously endorsed to serve Governor Tanko Al-Makura notice of impeachment.” The Chief Whip of the House, Mr. Mohammed Okpede, (PDP-Doma North), seconded the motion to serve Al-Makura with the impeachment notice over alleged misconduct. Alhaji Musa Ahmed (PDP-Nasarawa Central), who doubles as the Speaker of the House, officially received the impeachment notice and noted that the House had complied with the provision of the constitution to serve the governor with an impeachment notice. The Speaker subsequently directed the Clerk to serve the impeachment notice on Al-Makura on Monday. He said, “While in the event that the governor could not be reached for service, the clerk is directed to serve him with the impeachment notice through the media.” The Chairman, House Committee on Information and Security, Baba Ibaku, toldThe PUNCHthat the governor had siphoned state funds and should not be allowed to continue as the chief security officer of the state. Ibaku, who represents Loko/Udege constituency, alleged that Al-Makura had spent over N2bn from the local government joint account without recourse to due process. He said the governor allegedly used one Mr. Usman Saraki as a front to swindle the state of over N800m as a consultant to SUBEB. He also said over N700m was missing from the SURE-P accounts. He said the governor had sacked over 10,000 workers from the state payroll without following due process. “The governor has gone beyond his constitutional boundaries and must face the law like every other Nigerian because he is not sacrosanct to the constitution of our land,” Ibaku declared. The state chairman of the APC, Philip Shekwo, said the party would respond at the appropriate time. Also reacting to the impeachment notice, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Yunna Iliya, said he had not been briefed about any impeachment notice to the governor. In Adamawa, however, the seven-man panel set up by the former acting Chief Judge of the state, Justice Ambrose Mamedi, to investigate the alleged gross misconduct levelled against Nyako and his Deputy, Mr. Bala Ngalari, submitted its report on Monday. The report, in four volumes, has been forwarded by the panel chairman, Mallam Buba Kaigama to the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Ahmadu Fintiri. While receiving the report, the Speaker congratulated members of the panel for being found worthy of handling such a sensitive assignment. Fintiri said, “I assure you the committee members and the people of Adamawa State that the Assembly will consider the report meticulously at the plenary in due course before deciding on the next course of action.” season of unending impeachment against Janjaweedians. Politics / Re: PDP To Visit Edo Widow, Give Her 250k by ochilikoko(m): 7:31am On Nov 30, 2013 |
harizonal123: The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Edo State Chapter, has visited the widow told by Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole to 'go and die' in her distress and has promised her 250 thousand Naira to support her business. It would be recalled that governor Adams Oshiomhole went on a sanitation inspection tour and chanced apron a woman eking out her living by hawking her wares in the street. The governor then ordered his security details and officials to seize the property of the widow. When the widow went on her knees to beg the governor for clemency, stating that those goods were all she had, Oshiomhole told her 'you are a widow, go and die'. Oshiomhole's comments were particularly disconcerting to the public after the video of the incident went viral with many noting that as a widower himself, he ought to have shown some empathy to the woman's plight. But with the kind gesture by the PDP,the woman's hope for a future has now been rekindled. The party released the following update; Edo PDP watched with consternation Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s brutal, inhuman and merciless treatment of a widow street-trader whose wares he ordered seized and who he unfeelingly told to ‘…go and die’ even as she knelt down in fervent protestations and appeals to his pity on a helpless widow. The governor’s actions are appalling, insensate, disgraceful, indecent, cruel and below board. It is clear that he does not care much about the well being of the people as he pretentiously avowed. Our hearts go to that hapless widow in this her time of travails and through her, to other widows who have been oppressed by the unfriendly policies of the administration in Edo State. The PDP, Edo State will not let any Edo person ‘to go and die’ if it can help it, especially not hardworking people like that widow who are engaged in lawful enterprises that are, in themselves, not easy to carry on. To this end, our party has instituted an endowment fund for all widows and oppressed people in the state and by this release, we invite the widow captured in the video of the encounter with Governor Oshiomhole to come to the PDP Secretariat on No. 70, Sapele Road, at 11am on Tuesday December 3, 2013 to receive a first-installment sum of N250,000.00 to cushion the pain, trauma and loss occasioned by her mistreatment and the seizure of the items she sells. Governance is about the people and as a responsible National Institution, Edo PDP cannot be unconcerned about the wrong treatment of indigenes of the state to whom the present administration promised heaven just to win their votes. We will continue to stand in the gap to ensure that Edo people are deservedly fairly treatment If Governor Oshiomhole believes that Edo People sinned by voting him into office, let him remember that he will account for his actions, if not to the people because he apparently does not think much of them, but to God Almighty in the short or long run. We thank all those who have been humanely concerned about the plight of the widow and have stood out vehemently against the crying shame that was the insensitive action of a governor who seems bent on repaying electoral favor with ingratitude. Signed. Chief Dan Osi Orbih Chairman, PDP Edo State. this av been my expectation.kudos to pdp |

striker9: All things being equal, out of favour Super Eagles players like controversial Osaze Odemwingie, Taye Taiwo and Ikechukwu Uche may have another chance to play for the national team ahead of the 2014 World Cup scheduled for Brazil. This follows Eagles’ head coach, Stephen Keshi’s disclosure to supersport.com that he may extend invitation to the trio to the national team ahead of the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil. The “Big Boss” as Keshi is fondly called has now revealed that he has not shut the door completely on any individual as he begins preparations for the World Cup. “Contrary to what some people think, I have not shut the door on players like Osaze (Peter Odemwingie), Ike Uche and even Taiye Taiwo. They are Nigerians and are eligible to play for the Super Eagles at all times,” Keshi said. The gaffer however stated that they will only get a look in if they “prove themselves.” “When I was in the national team, nobody had an automatic shirt. I was the captain but I did not play in all the games. “Everyday in training, it was war. We fought and sweated to show the coaches that we were worthy of the shirt. That is the norm now as well,” he said.
