Bukky Wright went from being a C-list veteran actress, to being an IT auditor. This feat was achieved via her advancing her education and today she is earning triple the amount or salary she earned as an actress. That is a perfect example of upward mobility
|
Odey1997:When Bukky Wright decided to "Japa" from Nigeria for greener pastures abroad, it was for her sole benefit in the long run. |
Odey1997:Upward mobility is when an individual moves from a lower to a higher status or position. This can be for different reasons. |
Odey1997:Imagine a respected medical doctor in Nigeria travelling abroad to work as a morgue attendant or taxi driver? Ain't that odd? |
Odey1997:Do you know status inconsistency exists in our society? |
Odey1997:Achieved status is acquired or gotten via personal efforts...... As a student one painstickingly studies in the higher institution to gain a degree.... Bsc, B.A, Llb etc until then can an individual be certified a graduate. One has to earn it. |
Ascribed statuses for instance is that in which a person is born into and it cannot to dictated by individuals. For instance, individuals born into a royal family....... Queen Elizabeth and other monarchical families. Especially through familial ties. |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXSVUlP1P34?si=hYaJsTwktZB-ljYi Social status refers to an individual's position in a group or society, determining their rank and responsibilities. There are five types of social status: master status, which is the most dominant and overshadows other statuses; achieved status, earned through personal effort and hard work; ascribed status, assigned at birth; unique status, specific to an individual and non-transferable; and categoric status, transferable and held by multiple people. Social status plays a crucial role in shaping interactions, success, and perception in society, and can sometimes lead to status inconsistency, where different statuses don't align. Understanding social status is essential for recognizing its impact on individuals and society as a whole. #socialstatus #sociology #everythingsociology24 #masterstatus #achievedstatus #ascribedstatus Don't forget to subscribe to this channel for educational contents, historical facts etc.

klyn81:When I saw him in the "Woman King" movie with Viola Davis, I could recognise him immediately with just a glance. He carried his mother's whole face. |
occfx:Yes it was in a plane crash. Imagine while she was still alive some even criticised her dress sense for being too outlandish. |
RealNiggaDee:Never I cannot argue infact I make friends with individuals that are older than me. |
nedekid:My typical Nigerian mindset is telling me there is something mysterious about that family. Just within 18 years of so, three family members gone within a duration of time. |
Jorussia:We can all collectively agree that Pastor Bimbo Odukoya brought female preachers in televangelism especially in Nigeria to the limelight. I'm sure if we create a poll out of 100 individuals, 70% would know her. |
chatinent:Her demise was tragic a few years ago, her husband also passed on to the great beyond. |
SatoshiX:Exactly 💯 till date nobody comes close. |
ObaaOfYorubaLan:Literally everyone tuned in to watch her live programs. |
datola:Really? It is well..... I just had to chronicle her life. She was such an icon. |
RealNiggaDee:During that era I was a mere foetus but folks at home told me about her. |
zombieHUNTER:Sadly she passed on through the popular sosoliso plane crash. Initially she survived it but few days later was confirmed life less. |
Mopolchi:We are truly nothing but pencils in the hands of the creator. |
NNtv:During her haydays she was a very popular televangelist. Tragically she passed on via a plane crash. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDC7gXFRhfA?si=Aqm2HyHXNYBDZHGx Welcome to the linguistic variant of my culture. For those that don't know, I'm an indigene of Yala LGA (Alifokpa) of Cross-river state. We speak Yache!!! The Yache/Ekpari language, spoken by the Yache people in Cross River State, Nigeria, is facing extinction due to a combination of factors including the increasing dominance of major languages like English and Hausa, urban migration, and the dwindling number of native speakers. As younger generations adopt more widely spoken languages for better economic opportunities and social integration, the transmission of Yache to future generations is severely threatened. This linguistic shift not only endangers the unique cultural identity of the Yache people but also represents a significant loss to the rich linguistic diversity of the region. Efforts to document and revitalize the language as I've been trying to do, are crucial to preserving this important aspect of our cultural heritage. Voice-Over: Yours truly 💋 Background sound: Selif Keita- Kuma... And that's because I adore his artistry.

This theory asserts that truth is not objective, but rather a product of societal norms, values, and power dynamics. In essence, social constructionism suggests that our understanding of the world is shaped by the social context in which we live, and that knowledge is constantly evolving as societal norms and values change. #SocialConstructionism #TheoryOfKnowledge #Reality #Sociology #Epistemology #Knowledge #Truth #SocialContext #ConstructivistTheory |
