There is nothing called Ijaw language and this is coming from someone that knows them well. There are 2 local governments that can claim ikaw language in Bayelsa and they don't understand each other. After that it is people from those two LGA claiming various minority tribes ans Igbo towns as Ijaw online.

Your ijaw is a social clubat best. The same ijaws will be the first to tell you this. A Nigerian ethnic group discovering a new language? The first sign ro identify an ethnic group in Nigeria, is the language. Ijaw as "major ethnic group", is a creation of federal Nigeria. At best ijaw is a platoon of sparsely populated offshore enclaves, brimming with fishermen in their full natural glory. All these new desperate attempts to project them as regional power brokers are laughable. They control nobody but themselves.


In any event, most of the people you call ijaw don't even speak or understand ijaw. Someone somewhere after filling his fat stomach with raw ogogoro, will proceed to use a ruler and tape to pin ijaw nationality on any group of people living by the sea shore. If truely found that igbos have been moved to fourth or fifth position, then; all schools from primary to university should update their curricular by ensuring it reflects new modernity like three largest tribe in Nigeria are: Hausa, Yoruba and Ijaw. That is what ekpa and his ipob caused by regularly killings igbos with Igbo donations
