buzugee: those saying the body is 3 parts ? come on now. ECCLESIASTES 12 VS 7 and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. THATS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DIE. THE BODY RETURNS TO THE GROUND AND THE SPIRIT BACK TO GOD WHO GAVE IT. 2 PARTS NOT 3 PARTS.And the soul goes for judgement. |
I Thessalonians 5.23 reads: "May the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." This means there is a difference between the both. Then, Gen. 2.7 ASV says "And Jehovah God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul". And that explains it. The spirit is divine, from God. The soul is the result of the spirit in the body. It is the emotional part of the human. It sings, it worships, it praises, It could also be wicked and selfish in another sense. The body apart from the spirit was dead, but with the spirit man was made alive. The organ thus animated was called the soul. "God treated man's soul as something unique. As the angels were created as spirits, so man was created predominantly as a living soul. Man not only had a body, a body with the breath of life; he became a living soul as well. Thus we find later in the Scriptures that God often referred to men as souls. Why? Because what the man is depends on how his soul is. His soul represents him and expresses his individuality. It is the organ of man's free will, the organ in which spirit and body are completely merged. If man's soul wills to obey God, it will allow the spirit to rule over the man as ordered by God. The soul, if it chooses, also can suppress the spirit and take some other delight as lord of the man. This trinity of spirit, soul and body may be partially illustrated by a light bulb. Within the bulb, which can represent the total man, there are electricity, light and wire. The spirit is like the electricity, the soul the light, and body the wire. Electricity is the cause of the light while light is the effect of electricity. Wire is the material substance for carrying the electricity as well as for manifesting the light. The combination of spirit and body produces soul, that which is unique to man. As electricity, carried by the wire, is expressed in light, so spirit acts upon the soul and the soul, in turn, expresses itself through the body."- Watchman Nee |
By Emma Ujah, Abuja Bureau Chief There was, yesterday, a hoax over the resignation of the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and the Minister Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who was sworn-in by President Goodluck Jonathan just on Wednesday. Text messages conveying the rumoured resignation of the minister were passed round at about noon, yesterday precipitating several frantic calls to officials of the presidency as well as, those of the Ministry of Finance to confirm the story which also appeared on an online news site. But the office of the minister dismissed the story, saying that it was the handiwork of evil and corrupt people who were afraid of Dr. Okonjo-Iweala’s position against corruption. Her Special Adviser, on Information and Communication, Mr. Paul Nwabuikwu, said in a swift reaction that the information was completely false and a calculated attempt to distract the minister but that the objective would not be achieved. His words, “it has been brought to our notice that an online website is alleging that Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, has resigned her position. “The information is completely false and without foundation. “We are aware that the baseless falsehood is part of the ongoing orchestrated campaign by entrenched interests and corrupt groups working against more transparent and improved governance in the country. “The obvious intention is to distract Dr Okonjo-Iweala from contributing to the realisation of the vision of President Goodluck Jonathan and his administration for sustainable economic growth in Nigeria. “This intention will not be achieved because Dr Okonjo-Iweala will not be distracted”. Some interests, indeed, appeared to be bent on discouraging Dr. Okonjo-Iweala from serving in the Jonathan administration as they have been sponsoring publications that she would not return to Nigeria. Even before the Senate clearing session, there were stories that the woman wouldn’t return on the ground that she had turned down the offer of Mr. President to serve in the cabinet. By Thursday, there was a rumoured clash between her and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi over the nationalization of the three banks only a week before her arrival. Besides, when she returned to the Washington, United States of America, after the clearing by the Senate, another story broke out to the effect that she had made up her mind not to serve because she demanded to be paid in dollar and requested to be given a free hand to pick members of her National Economic Management Team.more transparent and improved governance in the country. Cremation causes pollution yes! But not 2 be compared to d familiar pollution we get and are used to 4rm smokey. Its effect is little and insignificant! No one wil want to erect a structure over someone else's dead body. Its all economics. We need to fink about the future here. And if its not our culture we can borrow it. I speak dis cos i hear dat yaba cemetry wil soon be exhausted. What a large expanse of land now lies fallow for eternity. Guys we have to see reasons. |
Considering the number of abandoned lands and the growing population of the country, i think cremation should be introduced as part of our culture. We can't keep giving our lands to the dead and cry for lands to raise buildings. Its even economical compared to our normal burial process. What do your think? |

Nigeria's most worrisome problem is GREED! The poor wants to get rich and the rich wants to get richer by all means even he it will cost him his brother. Greed has resulted to corruption, tribalism, religious crisis, a very strong craze for power, negligence of the government to critical issues concerning the masses. IF WE CAN TREAT OUR GREED, THEM WE GET A STEP CLOSER TO A PEACEFUL NATION. |
