Literature"Biafra Is Not Our Medicine" An Article By Chukwuebuka Mbaso by ogafinance(op): 9:36am On Jun 15, 2017
Written by: Chukwuebuka Mbaso (writer)

"I love my mother" should not be with mere words,
"I love my neighbor" then back it up with action. If we love our children and wish them good health, Biafra is not our medicine.

This message is directed towards our vibrant youth, who believe that Biafra is the solution to unemployment, poverty, corruption etc.
Fighting for what you believe in, as courageous and manly as that may sound, has a lot attached to it. "What am I willing to sacrifice and what do I stand to gain"? A question every die-hard Biafran supporter, especially the youths, should ask themselves.

Our lack of experience in tactical combat cripples any chance we have of victory in war. Most of us are currently unequipped politically to push through the necessary paperwork needed to substantiate the need for the actualization of our dream "Biafra". In the absence of this necessary qualification, It is in our best interest to desist from violent campaigns and protests that have labeled us thugs and terrorists (in some cases) in the eyes of other nations. I suggest we channel our fighting spirit towards achievable self-benefitting goals. Let us fight to make our immediate environment a safe haven for all, fight to eradicate crime from our community, fight to ensure the reign of peace and tranquillity. Until then, our sincerity towards Biafra remains questionable.

I admire, in particular, the love and loyalty shown by the youths towards the movement of the actualization of Biafra. "keep the fire burning", but in the heat of the moment, I ask that we sit back and objectively reanalyze the current situation at hand and ask ourselves if Biafra is our solution.

I will refrain from calling names but if our leaders can express their unwavering support of our cause and promise that our valiant efforts won't be easily forgotten at the glimpse of a profitable government agreement, I will gladly follow, lead and even lay down my life, if our leaders are willing to do the same. Until we see an ounce of transparency in our government, let us not fight. Until everyone gets to the point where they can make decisions uninfluenced by personal opinion, let us not create chaos. Until we do away with our inter-tribal differences, amongst other things, let us not be in a hurry to give up our lives. Let us ease up on the preconceived notion of the paradise Biafra will become and wake up to the reality that our country, states, local governments, villages, communities, and families are falling apart.

Nigeria is our hospital, the government our doctors and as we queue up to buy the drugs prescribed for us..please remember "Biafra is not our medicine."

Following continuous loss of jobs by Nigerians in this recession period. Ecobank Nigeria has come out to confirm the closure of its 74 branches nationwide. Mr. Charles Kie MD/CEO Ecobank while speaking states the bank’s commitment towards digital transformation. The bank has promised to deploy staffs of the affected branches nationalwide to other emerging projects.
Still on the road to digital transformation by Ecobank, Mr Charles narrates the benefits of the transformation for customers as it will enable them carryout banking activities online, as the need of visiting bank location will not be needful, also it will improve customers’ experience at reduced cost. This, he said, also supports the bank’s financial inclusion strategy and the cashless policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The MD made some report on the banks recent upgrade on its retail internet banking platform with the Ecobank mobile app that enables customers to do instant payments, open accounts, as well as do instant transfers across 33 countries in Africa. “After a detailed analysis of the physical network of branches needed to serve our customers, the decision was made by the Ecobank Nigeria board, and approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria, to optimize 74 out of its 479 branches,” Kie said.
Nigerians and customers of the bank where expecting an update on the recent 50 top personnel staff that was dismissed from the bank. He concluded by saying “We are deploying staff and other resources from the merged branches to other ongoing projects, while also strengthening the existing branches to make them more resourceful and up to speed in their daily activities,” he added.

Business5 Things You Need To Know About The Cashless Policy by ogafinance(op): 11:57am On Apr 07, 2017
The Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has re-introduced the cashless policy which was initially launched in 2012 a policy on cash-based transactions that demands a cash handling charge on daily cash withdrawals that exceed N500,000 for Individuals and N3,000,000 for Corporate bodies. The CBN cashless policy basically on withdrawals in banks, aims at reducing the amount of physical cash circulating in the Nigeria economy, but mind you, it does not work towards eliminating the cash flow circulation. The policy is targeted at encouraging more electronic-based transactions in payments for goods, services, transfers, etc.

1. The charges started to apply from March 30th 2012 in Lagos, October 1st 2013 in Rivers, Abia, Anambra, Ogun, Kano and the FCT. After the Pilot program was first launched in Lagos State on January 2012.

2. The cash-policy applies to all accounts with exception to Government revenue generation account, Primary Mortgage Institutions, Microfinance Banks and Embassies. Banks should therefore work with their corporate customers to arrange for suitable e-collection options. The policy was enforced not to eliminate the use of cash but to reduce the volume of cash in circulation.

3. Withdrawal above N150, 000.00 on all Third Party Cheques can only receive value through Clearing House and not across the counter.

4. Under this policy, Banks are no longer permitted to pick up cash services from merchants, while only the Licensed Cash in Transit Companies were permitted.

5. 3% Cumulative charges are administer on daily cumulative withdrawal in excess of N500,000.00 for individual while 5% cumulative charges are administer on daily cumulative withdrawal in excess of N3,000.000.00
