*Enenche, wife unveil Airport Road pedestrian bridge built in four months*

The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre (DIGC), Dr Paul Enenche, and his wife, Dr Becky Enenche, on Friday unveiled a pedestrian bridge constructed by the church on Airport Road, Abuja, within four months.

Enenche said the church built the bridge out of love and commitment to impact.

He spoke at the commissioning of the bridge built as part of the church's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The bridge, which spans several lanes along the busy Airport Road corridor, was fully funded by Dunamis and approved by the FCT Administration after six years of application.

The construction commenced on June 22 and was completed within four months, ready for use.

Enenche said the motivation was love for God and humanity.

"God is love. To be a messenger of God means to be a messenger of love. Love is about what we give, not what we get," he said.

He said making a difference is superior to making a living.

"We may make a living by what we get, but we make a difference by what we give. Our impact is more important than our income," he said.

Enenche said he initially tasked the contractor to deliver in three months before both parties agreed on four months, adding that the contractor delivered in four months and one week.

"They worked night and day. This is the fastest they have ever constructed anywhere," he said.

He disclosed that the church had sought approval to roof the bridge with transparent cladding and lighting to encourage usage and enhance aesthetics.

Enenche said the church had executed similar interventions including roads in Mararaba boundary road, Karu and Kubwa, boreholes in Borno, including one beside a mosque in Maisandari Ward, and support for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and flood victims in Maiduguri.

His wife, Dr Becky Enenche, said the bridge was a huge relief for pedestrians along the corridor.

She said the church had previously provided coaster buses to help people cross, but the logistics were inadequate, hence the need for a permanent structure.

"We tried many measures earlier. We used to provide coaster buses that will take people across. But the logistics was not adequate," she said.

She said the church had also installed green grills to prevent indiscriminate crossing and ensure safety.

The Managing Director, Dutum Construction Company Ltd., Mr Temitope Runshewe, said the bridge was delivered through intentional leadership.

"I was asked to deliver in four months. I said yes sir, even though my legs were shaking," he recalled.

Runshewe said Dutum is a 37-year-old indigenous company founded by his father, Engr. Olatunde Runshewe, and this is the fifth pedestrian bridge it has constructed in the FCT after those at Bannex, Sheraton, VIO and Setraco.

On his part, The FCT Minister, Mr Nyesom Wike, who commissioned the bridge, commended the Enenches for demonstrating leadership and sacrifice.

Wike said the application dated back to 2018 but was approved in February 2026 under his administration.

"Application was made in 2018. It was in February 2026 when I was reminded. In less than a month you received approval. It means there is a government," Wike said.

He described the project as corporate social responsibility, noting that government cannot do everything.

Wike approved the request to roof the bridge and made other commitments towards the project.

He urged residents to use the facility to save lives.

"As it has been constructed by Dunamis as its social responsibility as approved by me, I hereby commission this in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit," he declared.

In goodwill messages, Sen. Ireti Kingibe, representing FCT, said the faith of Dunamis had been backed by compassionate action.

"Today is a day of gratitude. This pedestrian crossing will be saving lives daily," she said.

The Deputy Governor of Benue, Dr Sam Ode, said Enenche, who hails from Orokam in Ogbadibo LGA, is a source of pride to the state.

The FCT Sector Commander, FRSC, Corps Commander Taminu Iliyasu, said Airport Road records high pedestrian crashes and the bridge would reduce fatalities.

DUNAMIS CHURCH SET TO COMMISSION PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE ON OCTOBER 30, 2026

The Senior Pastors of Dunamis International Gospel Centre (DIGC), Dr. Paul Enenche and Dr. (Mrs.) Becky Enenche, are set to commission a pedestrian bridge fully constructed by the church.

Dr. Enenche made this announcement during the Blessing Sunday Service, highlighting the ministry's commitment to impacting not only lives and destinies but also the wider community.

According to the cleric:

"Beyond impacting lives and transforming destinies, Dunamis International Gospel Centre continues to demonstrate that the impact of the Church should be felt in the community and society at large. Now, another major milestone is upon us."

He further announced that the pedestrian bridge will be officially commissioned on Friday, October 30, 2026.

*NATCOM bill proponent urges peace, unity, and a more secured Nigeria*


Dr Baba Mohammed, proponent of the National Commission for the Coordination and Control of the Proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NATCOM) Bill, has felicitated with Nigerians on the occasion of the nation's 66th Independence Anniversary.

In his goodwill message, the Madaki of Ankpa wished all Nigerians a joyous moment, emphasising the feat as a time for reflection, gratitude, and peaceful coexistence

Dr Mohammed prayed for unlimited joy and sustained happiness for the citizens while expressing hope that peace will prevail across the nation.

Enenche, Wife Train and Empower 100 People in Agribusiness

The founders and Senior Pastors of Dunamis International Gospel Centre (DIGC), Dr. Paul and Dr. (Mrs.) Becky Enenche, have successfully trained and empowered 100 individuals in agribusiness as part of their commitment to youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and economic development.

Dr. Paul Enenche made the announcement during the church's Thanksgiving and Testimony Service on Sunday, highlighting the initiative as a strategic effort to promote self-reliance and agricultural productivity.

According to the cleric, each beneficiary will be allocated at least one hectare of farmland to commence farming activities upon completion of the training programme. He further disclosed that the beneficiaries will receive monthly stipends to support them until their agricultural produce is ready for harvest.

Dr. Enenche noted that the training and empowerment programme represents a significant investment, with each participant's training costing approximately ₦500,000.

The beneficiaries, who constitute Batch A of the Entrepreneurship Agribusiness Training Programme, graduated from the C.S.S. Farm and Skills Acquisition Centre located along the Keffi–Abuja Road. The entire programme was fully sponsored by Dr Paul,Dr (Mrs.) Becky Enenche and the church as part of their ongoing efforts to empower individuals with practical skills and sustainable means of livelihood.

The Senior Pastors of Dunamis International Gospel Centre (DIGC), Dr Paul and Dr Mrs Becky Enenche, have continued their global evangelistic outreach by igniting fresh revival fire in Angola through powerful crusade meetings marked by salvation, healing, deliverance, restoration, and renewed hope for many lives.

The Angola Revival Fire Crusade commenced in Luanda on September 18 and concluded on September 19, 2026, with a remarkable manifestation of God's presence as multitudes gathered to experience a fresh move of the Holy Spirit.

Upon arrival in Angola, Dr Paul Enenche expressed gratitude for the warm reception received from the people of the nation and declared his expectation for healing, deliverance, restoration, and life-changing encounters with Jesus Christ.

He encouraged the people of Angola to seize the opportunity for divine visitation, inviting families, friends, and loved ones to attend the Healing and Deliverance Crusade and encounter the saving power of Jesus Christ.

CENAD Endorses Tinubu's Re-election, Unveils Preferred Governorship, Senatorial and House of Representatives Candidates

The national leadership of the Centre for Northern Awareness and Development (CENAD) has officially unveiled its list of the most preferred presidential, gubernatorial, senatorial and House of Representatives candidates across Northern Nigeria.

CENAD is a regional, non-religious, non-ethnic and pro-development organization committed to promoting unity, peace and harmonious coexistence among Nigerians.

The announcement followed the outcome of a research exercise conducted throughout the region and coincided with the flag-off of the establishment and registration of multipurpose cooperative societies in the 4,611 wards across Northern Nigeria.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of CENAD, Comrade Ismaila Aruwa, outlined the objectives of the initiative.

According to him, the exercise was designed to bring to the awareness of Nigerians, particularly those in the Northern region, the outcome of a research conducted across the 419 Local Government Areas in the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The research aimed at identifying the most preferred presidential candidate as well as the most preferred gubernatorial, senatorial and House of Representatives candidates across Northern Nigeria.

Aruwa also announced the formal commencement of the establishment and registration of multipurpose cooperative societies in all 4,611 wards in Northern Nigeria. He explained that the initiative is intended to promote economic prosperity and empower communities by providing cooperative societies with access to grants and loans from both governmental and non-governmental funding organizations, locally and internationally.

He disclosed that CENAD has already facilitated the registration of two multipurpose cooperative societies in Kogi and Taraba States as pilot schemes.

Furthermore, Aruwa announced that President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, emerged as the most preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 general election based on the outcome of the research conducted by the organization.

He revealed that a full-page advertorial containing the list of the most preferred presidential candidate, 18 gubernatorial candidates, 58 senatorial candidates and 191 House of Representatives candidates across Northern Nigeria would soon be published.

According to him, the endorsements were not based on political party affiliations but on several factors considered by respondents during the research process. He noted that the responsibility of CENAD is to amplify, promote and publicize the endorsements made by citizens and constituents across the region.

Among the reasons cited for President Tinubu's preference were his support for local government autonomy and ongoing investments in critical infrastructure projects in Northern Nigeria. These include the ongoing rail line construction projects, the 1,068-kilometre Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway originally conceptualized during the Second Republic, the construction of the Buruku Bridge across the River Benue, the Ibi Bridge linking the North-Central and North-East zones, and the flag-off of the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe–Numan–Yola Expressway, among other projects.

Aruwa further highlighted the establishment of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, the creation of the North-Central Development Commission and the North-West Development Commission, as well as the establishment of new military divisions in Makurdi, Ilorin and Jalingo.

Other initiatives listed included the establishment of the National Credit Guarantee Company Limited and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

He stated that CENAD intends to leverage its membership presence across the approximately 97,000 polling units in Northern Nigeria to mobilize a conservative estimate of five million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 election. The organization also plans to extend similar support to other endorsed candidates.

Aruwa added that the national leadership of CENAD would embark on visits to the 19 Northern states and the FCT to decorate award recipients and present them with Certificates of Final Endorsement.

Beyond the spiritual ministrations, the outreach featured free medical services and the distribution of relief materials to numerous members of the community, demonstrating the church's commitment to both spiritual and humanitarian impact.

The crusade left many lives transformed, with testimonies of healing, deliverance, restoration, and renewed faith, further reinforcing the church's mission of taking the Gospel and the love of Christ to communities across Nigeria and beyond.

LEAVING NO ONE BEHIND: WHEN HUMANITARIAN INTERVENTION BECOMES A NATIONAL DUTY

There is a point at which humanitarian intervention ceases to be merely an act of charity and becomes a statement about who we are as a people.

That point is reached when a displaced mother can once again feed her children with dignity; when a child who has been forced away from school is given another opportunity to learn; when a family that has lost its home is given the means to rebuild; and when communities that have endured years of insecurity are told, by action rather than words, that Nigeria has not forgotten them.

This is the deeper meaning of Leaving No One Behind.

For GMBNI, it is also the principle that should define Nigeria's continuing response to displacement and humanitarian vulnerability.

Across Borno, Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto and other affected parts of the country, displacement has disrupted homes, livelihoods, education and the social fabric of communities.

Yet behind every statistic is a human being.

A farmer.

A mother.

A child.

A young person.

An elderly citizen.

A Nigerian whose circumstances may have changed, but whose dignity and right to hope have not.

HUMANITARIANISM MUST NOT END WHEN THE HEADLINES END

One of the greatest dangers facing displaced communities is not only the crisis that forced them from their homes, but what happens after public attention moves elsewhere.

The cameras leave.

The headlines change.

The emergency becomes yesterday's news.

But the displaced family remains.

The child still needs education.

The mother still needs livelihood support.

The community still needs water, healthcare and protection.

This is why humanitarian response must be continuous.

Emergency relief is vital, but it is only the beginning.

Food can prevent hunger today.

A livelihood can prevent hunger tomorrow.

A school uniform can restore dignity.

Education can restore a future.

A shelter can provide security.

A functioning community can restore belonging.

The transition must therefore be from relief to recovery, recovery to resilience, and resilience to opportunity.

THE HUMAN FACE OF INTERVENTION

GMBNI's grassroots humanitarian experience has reinforced this understanding.

From interventions supporting vulnerable communities and children in Borno, including educational and basic welfare support to Tsangaya and learning centres, to engagements across communities facing hardship in Zamfara, Katsina and Sokoto, the lesson remains consistent:

People need more than assistance. They need hope that assistance will continue until they can stand again.

In Borno, where years of conflict have produced profound humanitarian consequences, educational support is not a small intervention.

For a child, receiving books, learning materials or a school uniform can represent a return to normalcy.

It says:

You are still a child.

You still have a future.

Your circumstances do not define your destiny.

That is the power of humanitarian intervention.

COMMENDING A COMMITMENT TO THE VULNERABLE

It is against this background that GMBNI acknowledges and commends the efforts of Hon. Tijjani Aliyu Ahmed, Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), for sustaining attention to the protection, welfare and long-term recovery of displaced and vulnerable Nigerians.

His public interventions increasingly reflect an important evolution in humanitarian thinking: that displaced persons should not remain permanent recipients of relief, but should be supported to regain agency, livelihoods and dignity.

At the 2026 World Refugee Day observance, the Federal Commissioner called for a shift from “aid” to “agency” and from “camps to communities,” stressing that humanitarian work remains unfinished until affected people are safe.

This is an important message.

It recognises that the ultimate measure of humanitarian success is not how long people remain beneficiaries, but how effectively they are enabled to become self-reliant.

Recent efforts to strengthen the humanitarian-development-peace nexus point in the same direction: connecting immediate humanitarian response with livelihoods, development, peace-building and durable solutions. Hon. Tijjani Aliyu has been part of this national conversation, including discussions around how humanitarian interventions can be financed, expanded and implemented more sustainably.

GMBNI believes such thinking deserves recognition.

FROM CAMPS TO COMMUNITIES

The future of humanitarian intervention cannot be built exclusively around camps.

Vulnerability does not always have a camp address.

Some displaced families live among host communities.

Some have moved between locations.

Some have returned home but remain economically vulnerable.

Some children have disappeared from the education system without ever appearing on an official humanitarian list.

The humanitarian question, therefore, should not simply be:

Where is the camp?

It should be:

Where is the vulnerable Nigerian?

This is where grassroots organisations, government institutions, traditional structures, development partners and community leaders must work together.

BORNO, ZAMFARA, KATSINA AND SOKOTO: THE WORK CONTINUES

The experiences of Borno and the Northwest demonstrate that humanitarian challenges are neither isolated nor static.

In Borno, the challenge has been deeply shaped by conflict, displacement and the disruption of livelihoods and education.

In Zamfara, Katsina and Sokoto, insecurity and vulnerability have placed additional pressure on households and communities.

The appropriate response must therefore be flexible enough to meet people where they are.

Food assistance.

Education.

Healthcare.

Water and sanitation.

Shelter.

Livelihoods.

Skills.

Women and youth empowerment.

Agricultural recovery.

Protection.

And ultimately, the restoration of dignity.

WOMEN AND CHILDREN CANNOT WAIT

Women and children must remain at the centre of this effort.

A displaced woman frequently carries the responsibility of keeping a household together under circumstances she did not create.

A displaced child carries an even greater risk—the risk of losing years of education and, with them, opportunities that may never return.

Humanitarian intervention must therefore ask not merely how many people were reached, but:

How many children returned to learning?

How many women regained economic capacity?

How many families moved from dependency towards self-reliance?

How many communities became safer and more resilient?

These are the questions that will define the next generation of humanitarian response.

CONSISTENCY BUILDS TRUST

A single intervention can provide relief.

Consistency builds trust.

When an organisation or institution returns to a community, listens again, assesses what has changed and responds to emerging needs, it communicates something more powerful than assistance:

You have not been forgotten.

That message is particularly important to people who have experienced displacement.

Humanitarian work is therefore not only about material support.

It is also about restoring a sense of belonging.

A SHARED NATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

GMBNI does not believe that the humanitarian burden belongs to government alone.

Neither can civil society carry it alone.

The private sector, foundations, development partners, international organisations, traditional institutions, community leaders, volunteers and citizens all have roles to play.

But government remains central to creating the systems that transform humanitarian response from isolated interventions into sustainable national policy.

The emerging emphasis on linking humanitarian assistance with livelihoods, social protection and durable solutions is therefore encouraging.

GMBNI'S ATTESTATION

The Grassroots Mobilizers for Better Nigeria Initiative attests to the importance of maintaining a humanitarian presence where Nigerians are vulnerable.

We commend those who continue to serve displaced Nigerians, particularly frontline institutions and individuals who understand that humanitarian responsibility does not end with the distribution of relief materials.

We particularly recognise the efforts of Hon. Tijjani Aliyu Ahmed in advancing a humanitarian philosophy that increasingly looks beyond immediate relief towards agency, dignity, livelihoods and durable solutions.

The task ahead remains enormous.

But progress begins when institutions refuse to look away.

LEAVING NO ONE BEHIND

Nigeria's displaced citizens have not ceased to be Nigerians because they lost their homes.

Agriculture remains the foundation of food security, job creation, industrial growth, and economic

However, insecurity, inadequate financing, poor infrastructure, weak extension services, and
post-harvest losses continue to prevent farmers from producing at their full capacity.

The result is
evident in rising inflation, expensive food, and increasing dependence on imports.

Mr. President, your administration has a historic opportunity to change this narrative.

I respectfully
offer the following recommendations for your consideration.
First, declare agriculture a national security priority by establishing Special Agricultural Security Zones
across major farming communities.

Farmers must be able to cultivate their land without fear of attacks.
A secure farmer is a productive farmer, and a productive farmer feeds the nation.

Second, launch a National Commercial Agriculture Programme that promotes mechanization,
irrigation, affordable financing, tax incentives, and stronger private-sector participation.

Nigeria must
move beyond subsistence farming and embrace commercial agriculture capable of feeding our growing
population.

Third, organize smallholder farmers into well-planned agricultural production clusters with shared
irrigation systems, storage facilities, processing centres, extension services, mechanized equipment, and
access roads.

This will improve productivity while making government support more effective.

Fourth, strengthen transparency in agricultural financing by expanding access to low-interest loans
and grants while ensuring intervention funds are monitored through digital tracking, independent
audits, and regular field inspections.

Every naira invested in agriculture should produce measurable
results.

Fifth, expand affordable agricultural insurance and strengthen farmer education through modern
extension services.

Farmers need protection against flooding, drought, pests, diseases, and insecurity,
while continuous training in climate-smart agriculture and modern farming practices will improve
productivity and resilience.

Finally, Government should establish Commodity Processing and Agro-Industrial Zones across major
agricultural regions.

Processing agricultural products locally will reduce post-harvest losses, increase
farmers' incomes, create employment, strengthen exports, and stimulate rural industrialization.
Y our Excellency, agriculture is more than farming. It is food security. It is national security.

It is youth
employment. It is economic stability. It is the foundation of a prosperous Nigeria.
History remembers leaders who solve great national challenges.

I believe your administration has the
opportunity to be remembered as the government that transformed Nigeria's agricultural sector,

Speaking at the opening day of the week long crusade in Bayelsa, Enenche made brutal declarations and release some words of prophecy, knowledge with diverse miracles and healings taking place, after beginning the session with intense worship to God, he declared saying, your light has come, glory risen and concluded by leading the prayer of salvation.

The crusade witness a deluge of miracles, signs, wonders, healings, diverse deliverances, intense worship and praise.

Beyond the crusade, there was free medical and welfare ministration.

In Bayelsa State, over 479 medical cases treated, 8 abdominal pelvic ultrasound done in day 1 and over 1115 medical cases were handled, 35 various ultra sound done, and 5 medical emergencies stabilized, prayed for and referred to the hospital in Day 2. 206 dental cases were attended to with 101 dental scaling and polishing done and one tooth extraction done while 261 eyes/ophthalmic cases were seen with 107 reading and corrective glasses given out in Bayelsa State.

While in ONITSHA, Anambra state, 645 medical cases were attended to, given medications, 13 persons benefitted from various ultrasounds, 3 medical emergencies attended to, prayed for and referred to the hospital further diagnosis. Also, 361 dental cases were seen, with 201 scaling and polishing done and 2 tooth extraction conducted.

In Benin, Edo state 268 dental cases were handled, with 116 scaling and polishing done while 389 medical cases were attended to and given full medications. Two medical emergencies were stabilized and referred to the hospital.

In a continued effort to provide happiness to the less privileged, the Grassroots Mobilizers for Better Nigeria Initiative (GMBNI) has distributed essential food items to over 200 poor and needy individuals in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.

The gesture is aimed at cushioning the economic hardship faced by vulnerable members of the society, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

The distribution exercise, which saw a large turnout of both men and women, included the provision of staple food items such as bags of Rice, Beans, Millet, as well as Salt, Groundnut Oil, and Palm Oil.

Representing the Founder and team lead, Ambassador Dr. Fatima Mohammed Goni, the North West Zonal Coordinator of the initiative, Abbas Rufa’i Wangara, stated that the outreach is a core part of the organization's humanitarian mandate.

"This distribution is a direct response to the suffering of the poor in the society, most especially in this blessed month of Ramadan".

Christian Youth Forum(CCYF) Steps In, Prevent Potential Major Religious Crisis in Ayingba, Dekina LGA, Kogi State.

The convener, Concerned Christian Youth Forum (CCYF) Paul James Adama has said, The forum played a pivotal role in preventing a serious religious crisis that could have resulted in irreparable harm to lives and property in Ayingba, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

In an statement made available for press release, Adama said "Last week, a young woman named Victoria David was intercepted by a group of Muslim youths near the Ayingba Central Mosque as they prepared for Friday prayers. Victoria was riding on a motorcycle (okada) when the road leading to the mosque was temporarily closed. The youths instructed her to cover her hair, to which she responded that she was a Christian and noted that many other okadas were also turning back. Angered by her statement, the youths slapped her, and others nearby joined in assaulting her".

According to Adama, Upon getting information of the event, "the CCYF acted swiftly by engaging with relevant authorities, including the Ogohi Ayingba who's the paramount ruler of Ayingba, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Ayingba chapter, and Victoria herself. A security meeting was promptly convened, during which the youths involved were identified by the Chief Imam of the Central Mosque. An apology was subsequently tendered to Victoria and her family on behalf of the Muslim community".

"The CCYF continues to handle numerous sensitive matters discreetly across the country to promote peace and harmony".

A passerby captured the incident on video and shared it on social media, drawing widespread attention, Adama said.

Adama concluded and declared, "Jesus Christ is Lord".

Enenche , Wife Takes Healing, Medical Outreach Across Kogi, Benue Communities

Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Paul Enenche, alongside his wife, Dr Becky Enenche, has taken a message of salvation, healing and social intervention to parts of Kogi and Benue states.

The week-long outreach, which began in Ankpa, Kogi State, on February 2 and ended in Makurdi, Benue State, on February 7, featured crusades, prayers, deliverance sessions and a large-scale free medical programme.

Thousands of residents in Ankpa, Gboko and Makurdi benefitted from the medical outreach organised by the church, with teams of qualified health professionals offering free consultations, treatments and diagnostic services.

In Ankpa alone, no fewer than 4,007 persons received medical attention, including 235 dental scaling and polishing procedures, as well as four routine tooth extractions.

In Gboko, Benue State, 91 persons were treated medically, while 42 dental procedures were carried out. In Makurdi, 62 persons received medical care, with an additional 264 given prescriptions, alongside 106 dental scaling and polishing procedures and two tooth extractions.

Some emergency cases were stabilised and referred for further treatment in Ankpa and Makurdi.

Medical conditions treated during the outreach included hypertension, malaria, diabetes, skin diseases, ulcers and urinary tract infections.

Laboratory investigations such as malaria parasite tests, Widal, HIV 1 and 2, hepatitis B and C, blood sugar tests and abdominal pelvic screenings were also conducted.

Dental and eye clinics were part of the programme, with corrective glasses prescribed for patients with eye defects, while those requiring specialist care were referred.

Beyond healthcare, beneficiaries also received food items, clothing and other relief materials distributed by the church.

The programme climaxed at the Benue State University, Makurdi (now Moses Orshio Adasu University), where Dr Enenche prayed for students and declared peace and restoration across the campus.

The outreach forms part of Dunamis International Gospel Centre’s 2026 global programme themed, ‘Reigning as Kings’, drawn from Revelation 1:6, which commenced earlier with the Nations Worship in His Presence at the Glory Dome.

Iginla explains ‘poor pastor’ comment, says prosperity, poverty is a choice.

The Lead Pastor of Champions Faith Assembly, Prophet Joshua Iginla, has weighed in on the controversy surrounding the viral statement, “I can never follow a poor pastor,” saying life is defined by personal choice and perspective.

Iginla made the remarks in a video message titled “The Poor Versus the Rich,” which has since gained traction on social media.

Addressing his congregation, the cleric said the statement credited to another pastor had been misunderstood, stressing that it merely reflected a personal opinion shaped by life experiences.

He said while the comment might not have been acceptable years ago, changing realities and exposure could influence how people view leadership and prosperity.

“What is wrong with the statement? It is his personal opinion,” Iginla said. “If you want to follow a poor pastor, follow one. If you want to follow a rich pastor, follow one.”

The cleric referenced Proverbs 19:4 to argue that wealth naturally attracts people, while poverty often repels them, noting that the scripture itself acknowledges this reality.

He challenged the church’s approach to wealth, questioning why poverty was often spiritualised while prosperity was viewed with suspicion.

“If I say today the topic of our message is poverty, will you sit down?” he asked. “Do you teach people how to be poor?”

Iginla argued that prosperity should not be confused with spirituality, adding that material possessions do not determine a person’s spiritual depth.

According to him, prosperity follows certain principles that anyone who practises them can benefit from, regardless of religious standing.

“You can be poor and make heaven like Lazarus. You can be rich and make heaven like Abraham, David or Solomon,” he said.

He warned against what he described as “terrorising” others for embracing prosperity, insisting that both poverty and wealth were personal choices.

The pastor also criticised what he called the over-spiritualisation of financial intelligence in the church, urging pastors to teach practical wealth creation alongside spiritual growth.

The comments came amid widespread debate triggered by the viral video of a pastor declaring he would never follow a poor pastor, a statement that has drawn mixed reactions across social media.
