His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, Nigeria. Your Excellency, NIGERIA CAN FEED AFRICA—IF WE CHOOSE TO FEED NIGERIA FIRST Nigeria stands at a defining moment in its history. We are blessed with fertile land, abundant water resources, and millions of hardworking citizens, yet millions of Nigerians struggle daily with rising food prices and food insecurity. This is not because our nation lacks potential, but because our agricultural sector has not received the strategic attention it deserves. Agriculture remains the foundation of food security, job creation, industrial growth, and economic stability. However, insecurity, inadequate financing, poor infrastructure, weak extension services, and post-harvest losses continue to prevent farmers from producing at their full capacity. The result is evident in rising inflation, expensive food, and increasing dependence on imports. Mr. President, your administration has a historic opportunity to change this narrative. I respectfully offer the following recommendations for your consideration. First, declare agriculture a national security priority by establishing Special Agricultural Security Zones across major farming communities. Farmers must be able to cultivate their land without fear of attacks. A secure farmer is a productive farmer, and a productive farmer feeds the nation. Second, launch a National Commercial Agriculture Programme that promotes mechanization, irrigation, affordable financing, tax incentives, and stronger private-sector participation. Nigeria must move beyond subsistence farming and embrace commercial agriculture capable of feeding our growing population. Third, organize smallholder farmers into well-planned agricultural production clusters with shared irrigation systems, storage facilities, processing centres, extension services, mechanized equipment, and access roads. This will improve productivity while making government support more effective. Fourth, strengthen transparency in agricultural financing by expanding access to low-interest loans and grants while ensuring intervention funds are monitored through digital tracking, independent audits, and regular field inspections. Every naira invested in agriculture should produce measurable results. Fifth, expand affordable agricultural insurance and strengthen farmer education through modern extension services. Farmers need protection against flooding, drought, pests, diseases, and insecurity, while continuous training in climate-smart agriculture and modern farming practices will improve productivity and resilience. Finally, Government should establish Commodity Processing and Agro-Industrial Zones across major agricultural regions. Processing agricultural products locally will reduce post-harvest losses, increase farmers' incomes, create employment, strengthen exports, and stimulate rural industrialization. Y our Excellency, agriculture is more than farming. It is food security. It is national security. It is youth employment. It is economic stability. It is the foundation of a prosperous Nigeria. History remembers leaders who solve great national challenges. I believe your administration has the opportunity to be remembered as the government that transformed Nigeria's agricultural sector, reduced hunger, stabilized food prices, empowered farmers, and restored our nation's position as Africa's agricultural leader. The decisions taken today will shape the future of generations yet unborn. I respectfully urge your administration to act boldly and decisively in making agriculture the cornerstone of Nigeria's economic transformation. May Almighty God grant you wisdom, strength, and good health as you continue to serve our great nation. Shitu Mohammed Kabir, MON, OFR Former Presidential Candidate.

*Between Allegation and Justice: Why Nigeria Must Choose Due Process Over Media Trial*....GMBNI In every democracy, moments arise that test not just individuals, but the strength, maturity, and integrity of national institutions. Nigeria now finds itself in such a moment, following the circulation of serious allegations in an online publication concerning the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, *Justice Mainasara Kogo Umar. The report raises weighty concerns ranging from administrative conduct to ethical compliance. While the gravity of such claims cannot be ignored, the manner in which they are introduced into the public space and subsequently consumed demands careful reflection. For the Grassroots Mobilizers for Better Nigeria Initiative (GMBNI), a civil society organization deeply committed to governance reform, institutional accountability, and grassroots development, in a statement issued in Abuja noted that the issue at hand is not merely about one individual. It is about a fundamental democratic question: How should a nation respond to allegations before they are tested, verified, and adjudicated?. It added that Accountability is the bedrock of democratic governance. Public office holders must therefore be held to the highest standards of integrity, and any credible allegation of misconduct should be investigated thoroughly and transparently. However, accountability must never be confused with premature judgment. The publication in question presents a series of allegations, many of which rely on internal memos, anonymous sources, and claims that even within the report itself are acknowledged as not independently verified. This distinction is critical as Allegations, no matter how detailed or emotionally compelling, do not constitute proof. Consequently, in a country governed by law, the principle of presumption of innocence is not optional, it is foundational. To erode this principle is to weaken the very system that guarantees justice for all. When public discourse shifts from inquiry to conclusion without the benefit of due process, what emerges is not accountability, but something far more dangerous: trial by media. The Code of Conduct Tribunal occupies a strategic position in Nigeria’s governance architecture. It is one of the key institutions tasked with upholding ethical standards in public service. As such, any allegation involving its leadership must be handled with the utmost seriousness. Yet seriousness must be matched with responsibility. Unverified claims, when amplified without restraint, risk undermining not only the individual at the center of the allegations but also the institution itself. Public confidence—once eroded—is difficult to restore. Nigeria cannot afford a situation where institutions are weakened by narratives that have not undergone lawful scrutiny. The damage extends beyond reputations; it affects governance, public trust, and the credibility of oversight mechanisms. This is why GMBNI under the leadership of Amb. Dr. Fatima Mohammed Goni, the Gimbiyan Yakanajien Uke maintains that Justice Kogo Umar, like any other public officer, deserves the opportunity to respond through the appropriate legal and administrative channels. Anything short of this undermines not just the individual, but the credibility of the justice system itself.

Iginla explains ‘poor pastor’ comment, says prosperity, poverty is a choice. The Lead Pastor of Champions Faith Assembly, Prophet Joshua Iginla, has weighed in on the controversy surrounding the viral statement, “I can never follow a poor pastor,” saying life is defined by personal choice and perspective. Iginla made the remarks in a video message titled “The Poor Versus the Rich,” which has since gained traction on social media. Addressing his congregation, the cleric said the statement credited to another pastor had been misunderstood, stressing that it merely reflected a personal opinion shaped by life experiences. He said while the comment might not have been acceptable years ago, changing realities and exposure could influence how people view leadership and prosperity. “What is wrong with the statement? It is his personal opinion,” Iginla said. “If you want to follow a poor pastor, follow one. If you want to follow a rich pastor, follow one.” The cleric referenced Proverbs 19:4 to argue that wealth naturally attracts people, while poverty often repels them, noting that the scripture itself acknowledges this reality. He challenged the church’s approach to wealth, questioning why poverty was often spiritualised while prosperity was viewed with suspicion. “If I say today the topic of our message is poverty, will you sit down?” he asked. “Do you teach people how to be poor?” Iginla argued that prosperity should not be confused with spirituality, adding that material possessions do not determine a person’s spiritual depth. According to him, prosperity follows certain principles that anyone who practises them can benefit from, regardless of religious standing. “You can be poor and make heaven like Lazarus. You can be rich and make heaven like Abraham, David or Solomon,” he said. He warned against what he described as “terrorising” others for embracing prosperity, insisting that both poverty and wealth were personal choices. The pastor also criticised what he called the over-spiritualisation of financial intelligence in the church, urging pastors to teach practical wealth creation alongside spiritual growth. The comments came amid widespread debate triggered by the viral video of a pastor declaring he would never follow a poor pastor, a statement that has drawn mixed reactions across social media.

Dr Becky Enenche Empowers Orphans, Widows, Youths To Celebrate 55th Birthday. The wife of the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr (Mrs) Becky Enenche, has empowered several orphanages, widows, and youths in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as part of activities marking her 55th birthday. Speaking with journalists during the celebration, Enenche said the gesture was part of her long-standing passion for evangelism and community development, particularly in reaching out to less privileged children along the Airport Road corridor. “We started evangelism about three years ago,” she recalled. “In the process, we found many children who were not in school. So, we began enrolling them and paying their school fees. Now, there are about 20 Bible clubs across the route, and the number of children on scholarship keeps growing each term.” She explained that the scholarships under her personal outreach were separate from those sponsored by her husband, Dr Paul Enenche, or the church. “At the beginning of every term, my evangelism team brings me the list of children, and I just release the money,” she said. “They liaise with the schools and ensure the fees are paid directly.” The event witnessed the distribution of welfare packages, food items, school materials, and relief support to widows and orphanages across the FCT. One of the beneficiaries, a student, Praise Adekunle, expressed gratitude, saying, “I want to thank mummy so much for giving me hope. She placed me on scholarship, and I pray God continues to bless and protect her.” Another beneficiary, an SS1 student, Peter Oche, said, “Without mummy paying my school fees, I don’t think I would have any hope in life. My life has a meaning and taking shape now” Reacting to the testimonies, Dr Enenche said she was moved by the impact of the initiative. “I’m so touched you interviewed them. This is why we do what we do — to change lives,” she stated. The Head of the Welfare Department, Engineer David Abu Ozigi, noted that over 30 orphanages benefited from the empowerment drive. He said, “This is not unusual; it’s something our Mummy has done consistently. The Bible teaches that pure religion is to care for widows and orphans in their distress. She’s simply obeying that divine instruction.” He added that the gesture reflected the church’s ongoing commitment to humanitarian service and spiritual compassion.

Christian Coalition Fires Daniel Bwala Over Genocide, Killings Statement In Nigeria. The coalition of christian youths comprising the Odua Youths Democrats Congress, Middle Belt Youths Vanguard & Progressive Congress, Concerned Christian Youths Forum, and the South East Congress for National Development has condemned and fires Daniel Bwala, a presidential aide for misrepresenting CAN’s position on the alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria, the group called Bwala a traitor and traducer. The coalition leaders which includes Richard Light, Chima Chukwu, Paul James, Innocent Bawa, Enoch Kela and many others made this known in press briefing in Abuja, the statement reads; DANIEL BWALA, A TRAITOR Or A TRADUCER, "The entire Christian community in Nigeria and all lovers of truth and justice are appalled by the false narrative being mischievously peddled by the special adviser to the president on media and policy communication, Daniel Bwala in a recent press statement". "Daniel committed two abominable sins in that infamous, treacherous and misleading statement. First, he wilfully and maliciously misrepresented the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) after his meeting with their leadership on the issue of the ongoing targeted genocide against Christians in Nigeria, stating the exact opposite of CAN's position on the subject matter, thereby claiming that there was no genocide against Christians in Nigeria". "It is un-statemanly, unethical, dubious, if not criminal, to maliciously misrepresent people and attribute to them in public what they never told you in your private meeting with them". "Daniel's second abominable sin is to deny the targeted genocidal killings of Christians in Nigeria. There have been sustained campaigns of extermination of Christians in Nigeria running unabated for almost two decades in which tens of thousands have been killed, maimed, scores of Christian communities destroyed, and millions displaced within and outside Nigeria". "Most of the communities sacked Benue, Plateau and other Christian States have already been occupied and renamed by the aggressors. The aim is ethnic cleansing with the sole intention of exterminating the Christian population so as to create living spaces for a certain group of people and have a homogeneous Nigeria reflective of one main religion". "It is, therefore, a shame that Daniel Bwala who hails from Borno State , the epicenter of Boko Haram's brutality would live in flagrant denial of the extermination of his own people. He must have lost fellow Christians in the state, yet the cosy red wine of the presidential palace has blinded his sensitivity to the memory of their blood. Daniel's duplicity, whether it is for political correctness or a desperate bid to please his paymasters as an ignoble political jobber, has left in its trail nothing but a history that will judge him hashly". "His denial of the plight of the Christian population of Nigeria, especially those of northern extraction, is an insult to the collective sensitivity of Christians, not only in Nigeria, but all over the world. It is like denying that the Holocaust never happened. It is also like saying that the Rwandan Genocide never happened". "Daniel's action has added more pains to the trauma of war and the fear of extermination facing the Nigerian Christian community. Denying the truth of people's horrifying existential experiences will exacerbate the situation and cause more damage than whatever political gains that the clueless, selfish and shameless adviser unwittingly seeks to achieve". "Daniel should do well to check people like Daniel and Esther in the Bible who stood for justice in their generation and prevented the extermination of their people rather than perpetuating it just as he is doing". "Seeking political relevance at all cost has been the trademark of Daniel's political engagement. It is very unfortunate that political prostitutes bereft of all morals are left to occupy sensitive positions of influence over saner and nobler people. That is the paradox of our nation. In civilized climes, the antecedents of people like Daniel Bwala should have given them away as unprofitable, inconsequential, treacherous and unreliable political charlatans". "It is such a shame that Daniel, like Esau, has decided to sell his conscience for a morsel of bread and the fleeting, transient allure of power and political influence. He is nothing but a traitor to his own people and a disgrace to the entire Christian community in Nigeria. He has caused more pains and trauma in the hearts of survivors than the guns and bullets of the enemy". "Well, Daniel should be reminded that positions are temporary, and when the position is over, he has his conscience to face on earth and God to face in the hereafter. Whatever position he occupies today is transient but the consequences of his actions will live with him forever". "As a nation, it is time to heal, and time to move on, but only if we all lend our voices to the truth rather than standing in denial of it. We commend our security forces for their relentless fight against all agents of war and terror in our nation, and we enjoin all well meaning leaders and stakeholders at all levels and across divides to stand by the truth and unite for the cause of enduring and sustainable peace". The group further called on Nigerians to promote healing and unity through truth and justice, rather than through denial or political correctness.
