Something similar to what usually happen in Nigeria is happening the world over.

Nigerian politicians likes it when they have done something with negative impact on the citizens to be easily covered with another trending story. Before long the citizens attention moves away from them.

This is similar to the Russia-Ukraine War. Since it started, the world media has shifted from COVID-19. It looks like the pandemic is over as little is being sad about it.

It almost look like the pandemic is over. Is it?

Would you prefer the pandemic to just varnish this way and never be spoken of again?

It was beneficial for old engines in cold climates to warm up before driving but it's totally outdated now, if you drive a relatively modern car and in the hot climate of Nigeria for that matter you don't need to do this, you're just wasting your fuel.

Car Talk / What Is The Purpose Of Revving Car Engine For Some Minutes Before Driving? by ogtechinc(m): 6:28am On Mar 09, 2022
I grew up seeing people doing this act. They will rev or fire the engine to a certain degree until they are satisfied or feel that the car is now ready.

Are cars meant to heat up in the morning or after been parked for a long time before driving it?

Why can't I just start and immediately drive off?

Is this just a myth or reality?

There are some puzzling questions to be answered:
1. Were women made or created to compete with men?
2. Can there ever be gender balance?
3. What's a woman's place in the Creator's arrangement?
4. What does the Bible say?
5. What does the Koran say?

Education / Poor Turnout Of Students As Lagos Schools Resume by ogtechinc(m): 12:35am On Jan 06, 2022
…Private schools defy resumption order

By Mary Obaebor

As primary and secondary schools in Lagos State resumed for the second term of the 2021/2022 academic session on Tuesday, poor turnout of pupils and students was observed in most public schools visited by our correspondent.

This is as most private schools defied the resumption order of the government, as checks revealed they have fixed their resumption date for Monday, January 10, 2022.

Public schools visited in areas such as Meiran, Alagbado, Oshodi and others, witnessed low turnout of students even though their teachers were at their duty posts.

At Model College, Meiran, Community Grammar School, Alagbado, Ikeja High School among others, students started coming in at about 8am.

It was gathered that most parents and their wards are still in the holiday mood.

For private schools, findings showed that most of them had put January 10 as the resumption date when closing for the first term last December.

A staff of the Lagos State Ministry of Education, who spoke in confidence, said officials of the ministry went round to monitor the resumption exercise but was silent on whether sanction would be imposed on private school owners who failed to resume.

Recall that the Office of Education Quality Assurance, OEQA, had last Friday issued a statement directing all schools, whether public or private to resume on Tuesday.

The statement, signed by the Director General, Mrs Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, said the resumption was in line with the agreed timetable for academic activities for the session.

Business / 5 Profitable Business To Start With 100k In Nigeria 2022 by ogtechinc(m): 3:36pm On Jan 03, 2022
So many businesses in Nigeria started small and then grow to what they are today.

Having 100,000 naira to start a business is not the problem, but your ability to grow and expand the business.

Below are the business ideas you can start with 100,000 naira and be successful.

1. Cooking And Delivery Business

Cooking and delivery is a best business to start with 100k in Nigeria. Everybody likes food but not everybody can cook tasty food.

Moreover, nowadays people find it difficult to cook because of their busy schedules. Some families eat processed food which is not good for their health.

If you have the cooking skill and a passion for cooking, you can easily start this business with less than 100,000 naira.

You do not even need to rent a shop for this business, you can cook in your house and deliver it to customers in their homes and offices. You can also cook and sell at a busy junction.

Basic Things You Need To Purchase when starting your cooking and delivery business are:

A gas cooker
Pots
Pans
Plates of different types and sizes
Grinder/blender
Coolers/stock pots
Spoons and forks of different sizes
Toothpick/serviettes.
It’s not necessary you buy everything at a time, buy what your money can afford, and subsequently when you start making profits buy the remaining ones.

2. Car Wash Business

In this era, the car wash business is one of the most lucrative businesses anybody can start with 100,000 naira.

Nowadays many people do not have the time to wash their cars, some are stressed after the day’s work and some cannot wash their cars well and the only option they have is to take it to the car wash.

Car wash is a business you can start anywhere there are many cars and adequate water supply.

The car washing business thrives at every season—the rainy and dry season—in Nigeria, so you won’t have any drawbacks while operating the business.

Moreover, a good location is essential for starting a car wash business. You need to choose a place that is visible to everybody.

If you cannot rent a place, you can go from house to house to wash cars for people. No doubt car wash is a great business to start with 100k in Nigeria and be successfully.

Tools You Need To Start Your Car Wash Business
Car wash machine
Water supply
Storage tank
Generator set
Bucket, soap/detergent
Brushes for tyres
Towels, etc.

3. Selling Of Fairly Used Goods Or Clothes

Another business idea you can start with 100,000 naira is selling fairly used goods and clothes.

Most Nigerians buy fairly used items like gadgets, clothes, shoes, household items, etc. You can purchase these items and sell them both online and offline.

Again, with 100,000 naira, you can start selling thrift wear popularly known as okrika. Plenty of people prefer buying Okrika to brand new clothes.

Moreover, the poor economy of the country has made people buy what they can afford and not what they wish to buy.

Where To Buy Okrika Clothes In Lagos are:

Balogun Market
Yaba market
Tejuosho
Aswani market
Oshodi market
Katangua market
Badagry market, etc.

4. Laundry Business

This is a business idea that is very lucrative, yet easy to start. Nowadays, people are so busy that washing clothes are not on their agenda, and this has created job opportunities for people.

A good location is important to your laundry business. It is advisable to consider locations in open places with less competition where people can see you easily.

Your location should be residential areas, estates, or high-income neighborhoods, and a place you can easily access clean water, etc.
Basic Materials For Starting A Laundry Business

Buckets
Laundry detergents/soaps
Pressing Iron
Ironing board
Starch
Garment conveyor
Nylon and tags
Power generator
Shelves

5. Palm Oil Business

If you are still not satisfied with the business ideas I’ve mentioned above then you need to consider the palm oil business.

The palm oil business is one of the most profitable businesses anyone can do in this era because of its diverse usefulness.

Almost everybody uses palm oil to cook, you can even decide to be exporting it to other countries which would generate much income.

Moreover, palm oil does not have a steady price, you can buy and store palm oil when it is cheap and sell it when it becomes expensive.
Things To Consider When Starting Your Palm Oil Business

Below are the top important things you should consider when starting your palm oil business.

Choose your palm oil business model
Get your storage space and storage tanks.
Get your rubbers
Arrange with suppliers
Decide on transport arrangement
Market and sell your palm oil.

Car Talk / Land Rover Discovery Sport Spectacularly Flips Over After Running Into Toyota GR by ogtechinc(m): 10:05pm On Dec 27, 2021
When driving an SUV, it’s important to consider its higher center of gravity compared to a car. Of course, it’s also important to consider not running into the back of other cars. In the case of this Land Rover driver, it seems they thought about neither as they drove into the back of a Toyota GR Yaris and rolled over.

The incident occurred in Birmingham, England, more specifically at the Robin Hood Island roundabout. It shows the Discovery Sport entering the roundabout fairly normally, even courteously letting a Nissan Juke pass by before they got into the middle lane. The Land Rover’s driver then cut to the inside-most lane, likely to bypass the traffic in the other two. However, the SUV wasn’t fully in the lane before the driver got on the gas, and they ended up getting a lesson in patience.

The Discovery Sport ended up clipping the passenger side of the GR Yaris’s rear bumper, riding up the rear fender, then rolling over onto its roof and nearly taking out the car in front before coming to rest perpendicularly in the lane. The damage it sustained included the windows, roof, hood, and front bumper along with anything mechanical that’s not able to be seen. But what’s probably more surprising, though, is that at least on the surface, it looks like the Toyota took little to no damage despite a two-ton SUV hitting it with enough force to flip over.

Regardless, neither driver is likely happy about the incident or the money and time involved in repairs, especially since it could’ve all been avoided with a little more patience.

Nairaland / General / What Are Your Reasons For Celebrating Christmas? by ogtechinc(m): 5:08am On Dec 25, 2021
When I Googled Christmas, there are tons of results stating/proving that Christmas is not biblical but for pagans.

That got me thinking, is Christmas really for Christians? If your answer is yes, what are your reasons, scripturally, for the celebration?
Religion / Is Christmas The Birthday Celebration Of Jesus Christ? by ogtechinc(m): 4:43am On Dec 25, 2021
If Christmas is the birthday celebration of Jesus Christ, why is it that neither him nor his disciples never celebrated it?

If God had wanted us to celebrate the birthday of his son, why is that information not recorded for us in the Scriptures?

Indeed, it speaks volumes that the Bible is silent about the date of Jesus’ birth.

Could this be intentional? Who really is behind Christmas?

Puzzling questions for great minds...

Education / What Is The Plural Of "Youth"? by ogtechinc(m): 4:41am On Nov 22, 2021
What is the plural of "youth"?
It depends which word “youth” you mean.

There is the word “youth” which means “the condition of being young, or the appearance, freshness, vigor, spirit, etc., characteristic of the young. As a ‘condition or state’, this doesn’t really have a plural. The same form is used with plural determiners. “His youth was apparent in his face”, “Their youth showed in their idealism.”

There is also a word “youth” meaning “young people in general”. This is a collective noun and so is generally already plural. “The youth of today have advantages which older people didn’t have.”

There is also a word “youth” meaning “a young person, especially a young man”. This has the plural form “youths”. “Three youths were arrested for causing a disturbance.”
