Politics / Seun Kuti’s Election Advice For Kenya by ogusbaba1(m): 5:39pm On Feb 05, 2013
Kuti, who stated he was in Kenya on private business, revealed he had met with a variety of Kenyan artists while in the country. He admitted to meeting with artists such as Just A band, Aaron Rimbui and Muthoni Ndong’a to name a few.

Seun, who like his father before him is a vocal social activist, was a prominent supporter of the Occupy Nigeria movement in 2012. He was reported to have had this to say to Kenyans ahead of the 4 March elections "As we all know democracy is hard to achieve and practice. You need to participate by voting. Protect your vote because it is all that you have."
In the same reports he is quoted reflecting on life with his legendary father, saying: "Growing up with my Dad was memorable in so many ways. By the time I was born, his activism days were behind him. I remember he was a good story teller.”
Fela Kuti was vociferously critical of many of the social condition present during his era, including military governments. He would buy advertising space in local newspapers in order to publish political columns which expounded on his championing of Afrocentrism as well as other issues close to his heart.
There are grave and widespread fears that there will be a repeat of the 2007/2008 Kenyan election violence which left over 1000 people dead and more than 200 000 displaced. The violence came about as result of campaigning which played heavily on Kenya's ethnic tensions.

Health / Boy Living With Hare-lip, Split Palate by ogusbaba1(m): 2:45pm On Feb 02, 2013
http://www.ogusbaba.com/2013/02/boy-living-with-hare-lip-split-palate.html

A five-year-old boy in the North West province has been living with a severe facial deformity since he was born because his family cannot afford to take him to hospital for an operation. Pietros Mokunke, who lives in Goedgevonden township near Ventersdorp, was born with a hare-lip and a split palate. His right hand and both his feet were also not fully formed. His defects are very noticeable: his teeth are growing skew through a gap in his upper lip, and his toes look like they’ve melted together.

Politics / Delta Leaders Reply Ex-minister by ogusbaba1(m): 10:44am On Feb 02, 2013
DELTA leaders recently warned former Minister of State for Education, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi against provocative statements, saying Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan is not playing cosmetic politics with the lives of people in the state.
The leaders in a statement issued by the Director of Communications of the People’s Movement, Mrs. Ibifuro Tatua said the governor is bent on stamping out kidnapping in any form, in any shape, in order to a have a very peaceful Delta State.
The leaders, who accused the former minister of engaging in a fruitless campaign against Governor Uduaghan and creating fear in the minds of Deltans, insisted that the Delta State government is worth its onions and the governor has been doing everything possible toward addressing security challenges in the state.
“People are not fleeing from their homes in the state and Dr. Uduaghan is not treating the matter of kidnapping with kid gloves. Kenneth Gbagi and his co-travellers are just executing a carefully designed plan to discredit the current administration and destabilise the state to further their selfish ends,” the leaders said

The leaders called on the soldiers, policemen and other security agents in the state to wake up to their responsibilities.
They condemned the position of Ndudi Elumelu, member representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, saying death sentence has never staved off the perpetuation of capital crimes since it was introduced in the statute books.
Death penalty as a mode of punishment for capital offences nationwide has not in any way reduced violent crimes in our society as the population of perpetrators of violent crimes are increasing and are even getting more and more desperate,” the leaders added.

The system is pre-civilization.

Politics / How Lagos Chief Disappears In Court by ogusbaba1(m): 12:02am On Feb 02, 2013
Crack detectives attached to the force Criminal Investigation Departement (FCID), Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos, were speechless recently as an accused person they brought to court "disappeared" shortly before arraignment.
It was a typical case of "the more you look, the less see" when team leader, Mr. Isiaka Babarinsa, a lwayer and a Duputy

Superintendent of Police (DSP), tried unsuccessfully to explain to an embarrassed magistrate that the accused person, He Chief Abiodun Olushin, whom he brought from the station and had already filed two separate criminal charges against, had escaped from his custody right inside the court room.

What led to the drama started sometime last year when a notice issued on behalf of the run-away accused by his lawyer, was pasted on his property in Sogunle area of Oshodi/Ikeja in Lagos, ordering their owners to repurchase the land from him as he had been vested with power of attorney to oversee the sale of the land in the area. One of the persons affected by the notice, Yekini Abdul whose land had already been fenced, was ask to repurchase the land for N1 million, but he allegedly paid N200,000olushin.

Apart from forcefully demanding the receiving money, the chief was also accused of using a pump action refile gun to cause panic and terrir within his neighbourhood.
Abduk lodged a complaint on the incessant harassment at the Oshodi Police Station, following which Olushi was invited for questioning, But the matter was eventually transferred to the FCID, Alagbon. There, Olushin was said to have alleged that his life was being threatened.

It was learnt that at the conclusion of investigation, the police discovered that Chief Olushin's complaint was baseless and subsequently filed two separate charges against him.
He was accused of giving false information to the police that his life was being threatened. This led to the arrest and detention of some people. It was also stated in the charge sheet that he forcily gained entrance into a parcel of land, which was in peaceful possesion of Abdul and also demaned from him the sum of N200,000, In the second criminal Charge, Olushin was alleged to have unlawfully possessed a pump action riffle, without the permission of the Inspector-General of Police. he was said to have been using the riffle to terrorise his neighbours, while conducting himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.

However, on the day of the trial, Olushin, who reported at Alagbon having been released on police bail, was immediately moved before Magistrate Court 12, at the Igbosere Chief Magistrate Court. The accused was already in the courtroom with his lawyer, waiting for the court to run through the list before his arraignment. When the case was eventually called, he was nowhere to be found.

Proawcuting Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Told the court that he couldn't have placed the accused under surveillance since he was on police bail.

The Police later towed the accused person's jeep, which was parked in the court premises, away to Force CID.

Health / Woman Delivers Live Millipede by ogusbaba1(m): 7:44pm On Feb 01, 2013
Incredible as it sounds but that is the naked truth. A woman simply called Taye who hails from Ajah in Eti Osa LGA Lagos state has a mother called Mulikat, a popular trader in Lagos Island from ogun state.
Taye wasd born and bred in Lagos and had sound educational background, had a NITEL job and married a banker, manager at First Bank Please who hailed from Ilesha, osun state.

They both resided in their pwn house, a du[;ex at Ikoyi. As fate will have it.
Taye moved out of her marriage and moved to a remote agrarian village, Iwoye, Ogun State where she married a notable farmer, Chief Onifade, the Amuludun of the town.
As the saying goes, the proverbial toad running in the day was either being chased by something or running after something.
Taye who married a banker could not give the man a child after waiting for over ten years (10 years). The man tried her luck some where and got a baby boy from another woman, thus Taye's marriage was threatened with insecurity.
She decided to run away from her marriage to a sedate village, Iwoye about 100 Kilometers from Ilaro.
Her new marriage at Iwoye with the consent of her mother, became blissful within four weeks of contact as she was seen pregnant. Chief Onifade Akinola, 60years had already got three wives with children became very happy at the turn of event.
Taye stated going to the medical centre in the village for antenatal care. Her mother was happy to hear that her daughter was pregnant.
Later Taye went to Ilaro General Hospital where she did scan and found that she was carrying twins, all male. but this turned to fear when after 12 months there was no sign of labour. After medical examination, doctor said Taye would die if she went through a caesarian because of the position of the placenta. Drugs were recommended which she took to correct the complications but to no avail as the pregnancy has reached two years and the bliss has turned to an emotional trauma defying all solutions. One day her age-long prayer was answered. "A Pastor was doing a three day crusade at Ilara and Rev. Lasunkami Bolaji came to encourage me to go, they prayed on water for me to drink when i go home while being prayerful. As I was praying, I began to feel pains in the stomach which later covered other parts of my body, then I began to shout which drew the attention of my husband and other curious neighbours.
"I fell down and I started feeling some thing coming out of my private part. Lo! it was a live millipede that came out of my womb and was moving about on the floor. And People took to their heels. The coming out of the millepede from the womb gave me a temporary relief but the refusal of the babies to be born added more to my problems. My pregnancy again was carried again for another two years.
"We tried different alternative medical centres, herbalists, churches and Imans but the situation remain the same. Two week later, my husband on recommendation took me to a fetish herbal home in Oyo State which eventually became the last resort. I took black concoctions there with chanting incantations till the following day, when I was delivered of two baby boys who died immediately, I was relieved", Taye narrated.
