Business / The #buynaija #growthenaira Story! by OJaderogbin: 3:36pm On Apr 15, 2016
So we all woke up one morning, earlier this year, and the national call encouraging everyone to buy locally manufactured goods took over the media. This was occasioned by the alarming rate at which our Naira is dipping against the dollar.

As expected, hashtags like #buynaijatogrownaira #buynaija and a couple of others began to trend on social media. Opinion leaders, public analysts, industry experts, politicians etc started analysis and counter-analysis on radio, TV and print media . In this part of the world, it is also expected that this Cause will soon fizzle away with the same fervor with which it began. All we need is another story to distract us.

In fact, we’re already being distracted. The agonizing queues for fuel in the filling stations have resumed, full time. By the time you spend some hours in the scorching sun, with your car, jerrycan or even your generating set, in a no-paddy-for-jungle scene; and then the filling station stops selling just before it gets to your turn - hehehe, every spirit of ‘buynaija’ in you will find their way!

A little bit of sincere soul-searching. What exactly do we manufacture in Nigeria today?

It is common knowledge that the Nigerian manufacturing sector is in a state of comatose, the signs are everywhere. Within the last three months, no fewer than 1,500 workers had been sacked and another 3million on the verge of suffering the same fate. I checked some major online stores in Nigeria: Konga, Gibadi.com , Jumia, Dealdey. You can count the number of ‘made in Nigeria’ products listed. Enter the urban malls and the reality is the same.

Can we criticize this trend? The majority of locally manufactured products are easily recognizable through their characteristic poor quality, though many Nigerians are still willing to buy anyway. We can’t blame the manufacturers either; the odds are stacked against you if you produce in Nigeria. As a minimum, you must provide your own power supply to survive. Now, foreign exchange is the new headache - the raw materials are not locally sourced.

So here is the task, before you make too much noise about buying made in Nigeria, look around you; and if you find any made in Nigeria product (That is not foreign owned) share that #MadeInNigeriaStory here http://gibadi.com/madeinnigeriastory_nominate.html
Health / The Dangers Of MouthAction by OJaderogbin: 5:56pm On Apr 14, 2016
There are a few known cases of people getting HIV from giving MouthAction (licking or sucking). There are no known cases of someone getting HIV from receiving MouthAction (being licked or sucked). Experts believe that MouthAction without protection is less risky than other kinds of sex, but all agree that it is possible to get HIV from giving MouthAction to an HIV-infected partner without protection, especially if the HIV-infected partner ejaculates in the mouth. Certain factors, such as the presence of any cuts or sores in the mouth, are thought to increase the riskiness of MouthAction.

The risks differ from man to woman...

Technology Market / New Customer-oriented B2B Online Marketplace by OJaderogbin: 10:58am On Feb 27, 2016
Launched in 2015, Gibadi.com is Africa’s number one Online Industrial Store. It is a B2B (Business to Business) online marketplace that is rapidly growing and focusing on small to medium sized businesses across the continent. It aims to facilitate the industrialization in Nigeria in particular and the whole of Africa in general, by helping the customers to purchase the best quality products at competitive prices and to lower the supply chain costs.

The e-Commerce site allows businesses to sell a diverse range of products online, some of which include safety equipment supplies, MRO (maintenance, repair & operational equipment), hand tools, janitorial supplies, lighting and electrical equipment, fasteners, lab supplies, plumbing equipment, etc. With over 500 carefully selected sellers and over 400 industrial brands from over 10 countries and counting, Gibadi is clearly Nigeria’s premier e-Commerce platform allowing customers to conveniently browse and purchase various tools and spares with added delivery facilities. Flexible payment options also allow the users of the platform to select from a variety of payment options.

By simplifying the supply chain for small to medium sized businesses across Africa, the company is well on its way towards achieving its goal of fast-tracking the industrialization of Africa. In developing countries like Nigeria and many other African countries, production downtimes, due to delays in the importation of crucial equipment and spare parts, as well as complexities in the supply chain, all result in significantly lower productivity. Gibadi is now here as a major force in overcoming these difficulties, using modern technology.

What other offerings differentiates Gibadi.com from its competition, you might want to ask? One of the things that makes the Gibadi e-Commerce site a unique one, is the fact that it offers a rich variety of both global and local brands of more than 100,000 essential products for industries and businesses. It also offers the best prices as buyers can make purchases at direct factory prices from OEMs as well as obtain exclusive factory discounts, through the platform. Deliveries on orders above N50,000 are also done free, getting to the customers within 5 days for deliveries across Nigeria.

Gibadi also has an edge over its competition by providing last mile deliveries across Nigeria and an option of delivery at a pickup location. Transactions can be made, using a number of flexible payment options which includes, cash on delivery, bank payments and web pay. This reduces difficulties usually encountered in online payments. Gibadi also uses state of the art technologies, which it has integrated into existing procurement platforms includes Oracle, SAP, Ariba, JDEdwards, Peoplesoft, Coupa, etc.

The company also has a responsive customer support division to provide support to its valued customers through pre and post-sale advice. Those who patronize the site are, therefore, assured of customer satisfaction at all time. The customer is further protected by having a 7 days return option on most of the products purchased through the gibadi.com platform.

Nigeria and many other African countries are already embracing the e-Commerce alternative as more and more customers are turning to online purchases. Gibadi aims to take advantage of this, to provide industrial customers a platform to also engage in online purchases.

The management of Gibadi sees the manufacturing industry of Africa, transforming its potentials into global impact. Gibadi is committed to assisting in turning these potentials into reality by providing the businesses with an e-Commerce platform that is able to connect manufacturers and buyers, using modern technologies. Nigeria, for instance, is already well on its way to decrease its dependence on imports which will have a significant positive impact in boosting the fortunes of small to medium local manufacturers and consequently improving the country’s economy. Gibadi is sure to play a significant role in this with the small to medium scale businesses patronizing this unique platform for comparative advantage.
