As a body horror enthusiastI can certainly say that 'The Substance' is a top ten contender for 2024 Objectively, it isn't for everyone. It will not get an Oscar recognition due to its graphic nature and niche classification, but it is the type of film that a cinefile will always respect for the script's sheer chutzpah. The writers clearly enjoyed putting everything together.

I'm not going to make pretentious statements like it's incredibly profound or very meaningful... I don't care about any of it; what I do appreciate is the disgustingly brilliant graphic sequences and the mesmerising lunacy of the third act.
