Amefrica: Do you have an extension letter? Just to avoid wahala @ the airport.

I havnt been given one. But was told I would be sent a mail regarding the extension granted. Would that be ok to pass for an extension letter at the POE if requested??

Hi all....please my question goes to all the bloggers currently in the states........I intend travelling to the U.S on the 20th jan, about 4 days after the date stated on my I-20 form...(that's 16th jan). Informed the school about it and they are ok as long as I arrive before 24th jan. I want to know if that will present a problem at the POE?

Hi pple.....I was supposed to pick up my visa today but was told it wasn't ready yet. Later in the day, I received a mail saying that my passport and docs have been picked up from the embassy to the location where I wish to collect it. Please I would like to know if this is the confirmation mail or I would get another telling me its ready for pickup.
Your input would be greatly appreciated as I have stayed longer than I intended to already.

I went for my interview today at lagos embassy....truly d security checks n protocol na die.
Finally went in and waz interviewed by d chinko....
This is how it went...
V.O: what school are you going to and wat for?
Me: told him for MSc in Petroleum Engineering
V.O: what did u do for my BSc
Me: Pet Engr.
V.O: where did u skool
Me: University of portharcourt
V.O: y did u pick dis skool and how many skools did u apply to?
Me: applied to 9 skools, 5 in d U.S and 4 in the U.K
I picked school cos of a paper I saw on the SPE journal written by a prof from my uni and it waz my research interest. So I mailed him and we talked.
V.O: what you doing now?
Me: work at blah blah blah as a petroleum engr/reservoir engineer
V.O: hw much do I earn?
Me: varies cos wen am offshore I earn more buh range of 200k to 350k
V.O: who is paying 4 m tution?
Me: my uncle, ma dad's younger broda....
V.O: Y
Me: cos my dad helped him secure d contracts he has with the IOCs in PH to supply barite(additive to drilling fluid) and I also assist him wen I have my time off from work cos he stays in jos where his mines are and we live in ph.
V.O: so wat wld I do after my Msc?
Me: I got a study leave for 24months so I wld return to my coy to work.
V.O: gives mi d white sheet...n pick up blah blah blah on monday.

I jst give thanks to God. It waz truly stress free. And I saw him deny lots of pple dis morning. I wasn't asked for even one document. Wasn't even asked of toefl and GRE, my toefl had expires actually cos I wrote in nov 2011.
It is indeed my month of special grace.
And thanks to evryone dat has pasted an experience here, either good or bad...I def learnt from it all. To all dose still to go for diers....Exude confidence and pray...and know ur stuff of cos! God wld do his part.

@amefrica; @ RR; @walspring: Hey guyz....please concerning payment of SEVIS fees via money order by someone in the U.S, need a little clarification as per the process involved please, can i fill d form I download and send to the person in the states, then he can mail with the money order to DHS? Or I gotta fill it online and submit and give him the details to mail just the money order? (Won't I have to make payments a the spot if I feel online)
Also, please he told me DHS have offices all over the place, is there a particular one we are supposed to have the docs mailed to??

Walspring: You will confirm it by going to sevis website and check your status for the payment there and payment made via WU take between 1-3 days to reflect on the website

Amefrica: After the payment is made, check this site out after 3-5days fmjfee.com and put your SEVIS info.

hello peeps, just wanted to ask if the SEVIS fees cant be paid via VISA card by someone in the USA if he/she has all the details to fill the I-901 Form? cos i saw that option available on the site, would wanna know if it could be done. thanks
