Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has cleared the air on his tweets about the screening of the the newly appointed Service Chiefs. This was made known in a statement signed by Sanni Onogu, Chief Press Secretary to the Senate President. The Senate President said his comment which was without prejudice was misconstrued and that the Senate will do the needful when the list of the new Service Chiefs is sent to it by Mr. President The statement read thus The attention of the Media Office of the Senate President has been drawn to a story making the rounds to the effect that the Senate does not need to screen or confirm the new Service Chiefs appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari. However, we want to make it abundantly clear that based on inquiries made to the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki on whether the Senate was consulted before the appointment of new Service Chiefs was announced, he had in response tweeted that the appointment of Service Chiefs is the exclusive function of the President as stipulated by the Constitution. Let it be known that his comment is now being misinterpreted to say the Senate will neither screen nor confirm the new Service Chiefs. This is far from the truth. For the avoidance of doubt, Saraki has said his comment is without prejudice to extant laws and court pronouncements on the issue and therefore that the Senate will do the needful when the list of the new Service Chiefs is sent to it by Mr. President. Saraki in a new tweet today said: “This is to clarify the earlier position which was not up to date and does not represent the position of the Senate President on the issue of screening of the newly appointed service chiefs . The Senate will perform its constitutional duty when it receives communication from the President on the appointments.” www.vanguardngr.com/2015/07/saraki-clears-air-on-tweets-concerning-service-chiefs-screening/ |

Just thinking aloud;APC said that they will form parallel Government if they lose this 2015 election, who knows if Bokoharam will be their own millitary. |
We are all aware that PDP nationwide conducted their governorship primary election on monday 8th,december 2014 and in Imo sate,Hon. Emeka Ihedioha was decleared winner by the returning officer, haven scored the highest number of votes. But on the contrary, less than 24hrs,Sen. Ifeanyi Ararume held a press statement claiming he won haven scored the highest number of votes. His claims stated that ''the total number of votes cast were 1017 while the total number of votes counted were 1028(going by individual scores);that 11 void votes were alloted to Ihedioha;that he should be declared winner''. Since then posts have gone viral online about the issue:some are saying the truith while others have allowed sentiments to pravail on their opinion:different people with difference interest have developed diarrhoea of the mouth because of the issue while some other have failed to reason with their brain instead their anus. So my questions are:If void votes were counted for Ihedioha, were there no sorting of votes before counting?,if yes, what was the reaction of Ararume and his agents then?,If truly number of votes counted were more than the number of votes cast, what makes Ararume think that the extra votes were alloted to Ihedioha instead of him or any other aspirant. Ararume we all know is someone that finds it difficult to accept defeat,so why killing ourselves on issue we cannot have effect on?,lets not cry more than the berieved, the panel is there to do their job,why not allow them to do their work,Long Live Imo state |

AFTERMATH OF EBOLA VIRUS DISEASE IN NIGERIA Sequel to the pronounciation of Nigeria as Ebola free nation by World Health Organisation,I must first of all commend the federal Govt. of Nigeria ably led by Goodluck Jonathan for the proactive measures taken to control the spread of this dreaded disease, this is the 1st time am seeing Nigeria Govt. rising to its responsibility.I commend also all other sectors that contributed their quota in the fight(like financial, education and health sectors).I won't forget those who lost their lives while trying to put the spread to a hurt especially our family friend;miss Justina Ejelonu(one of the nurses that handled the index case) and Dr. Adadevoh(the doctor of first consultants medical cantre Obalande),may their souls rest in peace.AMEN. Many people see Ebola Virus Disease(EVD) in Nigeria as a curse, but I see it as a blessing in disguise. Why do I see this killer disease that have cost this Nation a huge sum of money and lives as a blessing,my reasons are as follows. 1. It will make Nigeria to consider prevention next time other than control.Knowing too well that we were at risk of recording outbreak of this dreaded virus considering the proximity of other countries being ravaged by the disease, had Nigeria taken appropriate measures to prevent outbreak,we wouldn'nt have recorded the index case. 2. It will help to control the loquacious nature of our Govt. The minister of information(Labara Maku) had on April 2,2014 after weekly federal exercutive council meeting told Nigerians that the country was prepared for any emergency in case the virus creeps into Nigeria and that we have procured vaccine for Ebola.Based on this information released by Maku,Sawyer(the Liberian that brought the virus) believed that Nigeria have a cure for Ebola,so he came down to Nigeria inorder to seek for better medical health care. 3. Having recorded a giant strive in management of EVD,Nigeria is in better position to produce antiserum for Ebola victims. Yes EVD must have come and gone in Nigeria but some certain things still remain undone. After the outbreak of Ebola virus disease in Nigeria,we recorded approximately 62% survivors which is a good result going by the history of mortality rate in previous outbreak in other countries. Now that we have survivors, that means they have antibody that can tackle and kill Ebola in other patients. So in the absence of any approved vaccine or cure for Ebola,Nigeria can now exploit this and use survivors to produce serum that can be used to treat patients suffering from Ebola virus disease in other countries,by so doing Nigeria will be given an applaud by the rest of the world, and also for once Nigeria will be depended upon by other countries and not otherwise as the case have been previously. I here by advise president Goodluck Jonathan and the minister of health to mandate the Ebola committee that have already been set during the outbreak to work in this direction so that Nigeria once again will be included in the committee of nations where good thing can come out from. |

Is very quite unfortunate:thefate of African countries now lies on the western world,Africa is now experimental guinea pig.I heard that the experimental ebola drug has been shipped to Africa, even Canada promised to ship 1000 doses.these are untested drugs,it has only been tested on animals,What will be the long-term effects of these untested drugs? What if it cures Ebola but leaves humans handicapped? Or brain- damaged? Or sterile? Or with cancer? Or leaves a 1001 other genetic mutations that could damage generations to come?? What effects might it have on the internal organs of the affected patients? There are questions we need to honestly discuss and debate as Africans. Why hasn't Africa produced its own Ebola vaccine? If we are prepared to accept untested drugs from Western countries, why aren’t we pushing that WHO also considers Professor Iwu’s bitter cola Ebola research? Why do we lag behind the rest of the world in research and development?.I believe we have best hand, but things should be put in place.Africa rise! |

The three-year ban on former Nigeria CAF and FIFA Executive Committee member, Dr. Amos Adamu, slammed on him by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has expired, thus making the Nigerian high profile sports administrator free again to participate in football activities within and outside Nigeria. The FIFA ban on Adamu, a retired Director General of the National Sports Commission, expired at 12mid night on October 19. But contrary to expectations, Dr. Adamu has declared that he is not in hurry to return to football administration in CAF, FIFA and WAFU. “My interest is not to rush back to the international federations, but I am delighted that my ban has expired and I am free to contribute to the development of football and sports generally in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.” The former WAFU president noted that, he learned lots of lessons during his period of incarceration, and on return now, he would be delving into sports business and not sports administration as it was the case before his ban. “My focus is different now and those expecting me to rush back to football administration would be disappointed. I want to do serious business in sports. I am now a different person. This is the new Amos Adamu. “I went through some transformations which had been worthwhile. I am now a different person wiser than before.” Adamu expressed delight in the supports given to him during the period of his travails by the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the Sports Ministry and the National Sports Commission (NSC) under the leadership of Professor Taoreed Adedoja who stood firmly to defend him. “I am also grateful to the leadership of the National Assembly who made frantic efforts to ensure that I was not unjustly incarcerated after presenting them with documented evidences both in print and video.” The former Director of Sports Development stressed that, his consolation despite the three-year ban was the FIFA action which cleared him of all corruption charges and limited his offence to that of ethics violation. Adamu was banned in 2010 after the FIFA World Cup in South Africa following a petition sent to the world football governing body by the UK Bid Committee for the FIFA World Cup. |
