A 38-year-old mother-of-two identified as Faith Obidike, has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, with 1.155 kilogrammes of cannabis hidden in melon and other foodstuffs.
The NDLEA said in a statement on Thursday that she was caught by anti-narcotic officers during an outward screening of passengers on Kenya Airways flight to China, adding that the arrest had saved the suspect from execution in China where drug trafficking attracts capital punishment.
“It is sad that while government is worried over the number of Nigerians on death row in other nations, a mother of two children is still smuggling drugs to China where drug trafficking is punishable by death.

Members of the National Association of Nigerian Prostitutes (NANP), have intimated that they are mobilizing their members all over the country to embark on what they call the mother of all protests to register their anger over the high cost of living in the country occasioned by the increase in the pump price of petrol.
The body in a statement signed by its new leader, Tamar Tion, who took over after the demise of former President, Jessica Elvis, and Secretary, Sandra Efosa, their decision to embark on the strike, stems from the fact that their business has been dwindling as their customers do not have have the money to patronize them and as such, they have been suffering untold hardship.
Part of the communique released by the body after its national executive meeting reads:
“The members of the National Association of Nigerian Prostitutes (NANP), has concluded plans to embark on a mother of all protest to show our anger on the current economic hardship the citizens of Nigeria are passing through.
“The hardship has affected every facet of the society including our business as our customer base has diminished and the few men that seek our services do

Last week, Phyno teamed up with Olamide to release a new ‘Ghetto gospel’ song titled FADA FADA ’.

Already, he seems to be reaping the fruits of the ‘gospel’ song. ‘I’m already playing church gigs. I’m doing it for God. I’m getting paid of course,’ he said this morning on Beat FM in an interview with Olisa, Maria and Osi.

Nigerian labour leaders have walked out of a meeting with the government, saying they are mobilising their members for an indefinite strike from Wednesday, in protest of an increase in petrol price.
The meeting with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, and other officials of government was convened in an attempt to broker a last minute truce on the matter.
The Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, had condemned the government’s decision to increase petrol price from N86.50 to N145 per litre, and vowed to resist the policy.
The Trade Union Congress had also threatened strike, but pulled out of the plan on Tuesday night, the News Agency of Nigeria reported.
The General Secretary of the NLC, Peter Ozo-Eson, had earlier told PREMIUM TIMES that from all indications the strike would go on as planned.
“It is clear the strike will go ahead as planned,” Mr. Ozo-Eson said ahead of the meeting with the government.
The strike is coming despite an order of the National Industrial Court restraining labour from going ahead with the threat.
The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, had earlier on Tuesday approached the Industrial Court on behalf of federal government to stop the strike.
The General Executive Secretary of Medical and Health Workers Union, north central, Richard Gbamwuan, also told this newspaper shortly after an emergency NEC meeting of the NLC held in Abuja on Tuesday, that they were going ahead with the proposed strike.
“We have resolved to go ahead with the protest nationwide, as far as we are concerned, we are yet to be aware of any court injunction,” he said.

A lucky girl who escaped death by a whisker in the hands of ritualists has told the unbelievable story of her escape.

According to her, menstruation came to her rescue and saved her life. The 15-year-old girl narrated how her menstruation saved her from being kidnapped for ritual purpose by unknown assailants in the Wassa Amenfi East District of the Western Region in Ghana.

Narrating the incident, the girl’s mother, Madam Esther Ankomah, told the media on Friday that her daughter was kidnapped by unknown people last Monday, May 9, at Wassa Akropong around 1700 hours when she was attending choir meeting.

She revealed that the daughter told her that when the assailants were undressing her, they noticed that she was in her menstrual period, therefore, the fetish priest told them she was not suitable for the rituals.

She said the kidnappers then blind-folded her with black handkerchief and left her at a nearby school at Wassa Akropong on Tuesday May 10 and called her parents to come for her using the victim’s phone.
