EducationNigerian Mass Communications Students Should Learn From This Piece. A Tip To Suc by Okoyepeter442(op): 3:50pm On Jul 09, 2023
There's a saying which goes; "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a step". I think this statement has long become a reasonable cliche.
I was just 17 when I graduated from high School and all I felt at the moment was how to fill a real lacuna somewhere, how to cover a void of emptiness, how to begin this journey to the Fourth Estate of the Realm. I just had the feeling of wanting to do more than I can, I was just afraid of failure.
Meanwhile, I had written the 2022 UTME examination earlier while I was still in school with a score of 277 opting to study mass communication at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. But, one particular thought kept bothering me then - that was the need to broaden my horizon of knowledge as regards my dream course (mass communication). I felt that mass communication goes beyond getting a degree, I was so eager to enroll at any media training or workshop available because journalism (specifically) is just about the skills and expertise you have for it.
Coincidentally, in a bright Monday morning, I overheard a commercial on radio about a one month "Basic Broadcasting and Effective Communication" course. On hearing this, I was full of ecstasy and I did not hesitate to enroll myself in the training.
The training was wonderful, I, coupled with other students in the training, learnt a lot about practical media practices because the course was more of practical to theory. I met industry professionals, veteran journalists, on air personalities (OAPs) and more. I also didn't forget to network with interesting personalities in the media industry. I enjoyed every moment of it.
For the first time, I had the privilege to be in a live radio program in the studio, this particular one is memorable to me.
For now, I am armed with this certification as I look forward for more because these certificates are blessing in disguise. Also, in as much as I look forward to getting a bachelor's degree in school as an undergraduate, I would also be enthusiastic to enroll in more of these media trainings such as this.
In essence, I advise mass communication students in any institution in Nigeria to always explore other means in order to build a rich portfolio asides from being in the four walls of a classroom because these media trainings will come handy in the long run.
A student who reasons this way is already proposing to marry Success in the media industry globally.
I am Okoye Ifeanyi Peter, a 100 level student in the department of mass communication (Jacksonite) at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

PoliticsRe: How Enugu Would Look In 50 Years If Govs Do This [photos] by Okoyepeter442(m): 7:51am On Jun 05, 2023
Razgas:
government can build skyscrapers. I have lived in multiple countries and I know a few of the skyscrapers under construction being built by government. In Qatar, in Singapore.
Government can also contribute land alone while real estate companies build the skyscrapers.
What is the benefit of skyscrapers you ask?
What is the benefit of the alternative? In what way has the rag structures popping up in our cities benefited us?
You and I know that skyscrapers are used to make statements of the intention of a city. No need to argue this. No major city in the world doesn't have a skyline.
Oga to tell you the honest truth, skyscrapers is not and never our problem. Government should channel into human capital development, promote empowerment and poverty alleviation programmes and not one dumb skyscrapers. Please be guided. I'm also an Enugu indigene, but I tell you skyscrapers is not our problem for now.

CultureDistinguish That Concept Called "Love" ❤️ Today. (A Must Read) by Okoyepeter442(op): 10:30am On Apr 16, 2023
DISTINGUISH THAT LOVE ❤️ TODAY!!!
Interestingly, did we know that the love we have for people is displayed by the way we show it to them.
That being said; therefore, Love can fundamentally be defined as a "strong" feeling of "deep"affection for someone. The feeling in this concept varies which will now lead to the kinds of Love.
Universally, there are eight (cool kinds of Love and nothing but eight.
*EROS - This kind of love expresses the feeling of sexual passion and desire. Eros is only associated with sex romance and physical love.
* PHILIA - This type of love is devoid of sexual feelings as is experienced in a platonic friendship (absence of romance).
* STORGE - This kind of love expresses a strong bond of familiarity between persons. Storge is an example of love among family members.

* PRAGMA - This is a kind of love that has an endurance effect. It doesn't require a lot of efforts because the both parties put equal efforts to make the other happy. An example is exhibited in old couples who have been in a relationship since teenage years.

* LODUS - A better way to explain this kind love is the word - "infatuation". In order words, it is love expressed just on the physical outlook of someone and this type of love usually don't last.

* MANIA - This type of love is obsessive in nature. This love has a very strong feeling that could lead to madness, anger, jealousy and even homicide. In Mania, people say or do crazy things to keep the love. If not kept under control, Mania could lead to destructive tendencies.

* PHILAUCIA - In order words, this type of love is expressed to oneself. Persons exhibiting this love admires their personal qualities (intelligence, beauty, height, physique, talent, etc) above other persons. It's a kind of self love.

*AGAPE - This is the last on this article, Agape is unconditional in nature. It is a selfless, altruistic and disposable love expressed towards an individual. Some people describe Agape as a spiritual love; others say that it's the "true" love.

Know the right feelings for different persons and different reasons.

We all know that the English language is our lingua Franca and it was handed down to us by our colonizer - The United kingdom.
Therefore we have coined these words over the years to our own benefit to suit us better not knowing we've made a messof it.
For instance, you don't say "Crack your brain" rather you say "rack your brain".
You also don't say "horn at the car in front" rather you say "honk at the car in front".
Nigerians are guilty of these little mistakes.
Therefore after watching this YouTube video, you would be able to make the right choice by speaking the correct English for our own intellectual benefits.

well go and check for yourself on the latest statistics the NBS just released and know if I am lying.

PoliticsRe: SE In Panic As North Set To Agree To Return To Regional Governance by Okoyepeter442(m): 3:23pm On Nov 26, 2022
KwaraRat:
The north will be tabling a demand to return to regional assembly as to what was the norm at independence prior to the Igbo coup and Igbo forced unification decree 34.

The north will be pushing for regional govts along the current geopolitical zones thereby seeing to the creation of three regions with less emphasis on a powerful centrist govt.

This will see to the creation of NW, NE, NC , SW, SS and SE regions

This system will call for true fiscal autonomy where each region handles its affairs and resources without federal meddling.

The discovery of oil in the NE and huge deposits of nickel in Kaduna as well as gold in Zamfara are reasons why the north is now canvassing for such an arrangement.

Other regions are more than happy to go along with this proposed restructuring other than the SE which has been thrown into panic as the region depends largely on federal handouts to survive and with no resources to fall back to, SE politicians are now rightly worried that such a proposal will compound the ongoing restiveness in the region. It is for this reason, the SE is demanding to be included into the SS region.

Parasites.
look Mr, whether you are a rat or a kwara rat, the fact remains that the North that has produced much presidents is by far the poorest and poverty stricken region in Nigeria, please get your facts right before disseminating foolish contents. Your hate to Ndigbo cannot stop us from progressing.
