You say you won an election but it becomes an hercule task for you to allow a level playing field and free hand to scrutinized the materials used in declaring you winner. What is going on in this country? Why are our politicians behaving like swarms? In a serious and civilised society, such inspection will be joyfully carried out by both parties with no restraint but the reverse is the case in Nigeria.
INEC also is not helping matter. They always play into the hands of ruling party and not exert their authority as suppose to be. How would a party intentionally sabotaging another party and you umpire won't weird your big stick on such party?
The funny thing, some people will be rejoicing over this act of backwardness but tomorrow praying for the betterment of the country but forgetting the seeds they've sown that it will surely germinate.

Edo Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his deputy Governor-elect, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, yesterday presented their Certificates of Return to the Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II.

In his brief address, Senator Opkebholo, who was accompanied at the visit to the Benin throne by Senator Adams Oshiomhole, former deputy governors of the state, 2020 APC governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Senator Matthew Urhonigbe, and others said he was at the palace to formally present his certificate of return to the monarch.

He commended the Oba for his prayers and support which according to the Governor-elect led to his election victory at the just conducted Edo State gubernatorial poll in the state.

Responding, Oba Ewuare II, thanked the people for the visit and advised the Governor-elect not to fail on his campaign promises to the people, stating that God Almighty works in a mysterious way.

The Oba of Benin used the occasion to formally congratulate the duo of Monday Okpebholo and Dennis Idahosa on the election victory, and assuring them that his palace is open to them.

The traditional ruler also thanked God Almighty and his ancestors, including security agencies and President Bola Tinubu for the peaceful poll held on Saturday, September 21st, 2024 in Edo State.

“God works in a mysterious way. As you have said to me remember this Palace is open to you.

“You will do your best to carry out the promises you made during your campaigns more to the admiration of all and more blessings will come”, the Royal father said.

The monarch assured that he would continue to pray without ceasing, ahead of the forthcoming Emoro also known as New Yam festival, and his 8th Coronation Anniversary.

Why did they refuse initially, and why did APC, their thugs, and their hoodlums storm the INEC office in an effort to ensure that INEC didn't allow PDP to inspect election materials, which is against an order of the tribunal? 
 
Why didn't you tell your APC and INEC to obey court order?

APC won clean and clearly, but they hired thugs and hoodlums in collaboration with security agencies and INEC to frustrate PDP from inspecting election materials after the tribunal gave an order to INEC to allow PDP to inspect the materials used for the election.

Besides, we didn't hear the APC telling INEC to obey the order from the tribunal to allow PDP to inspect election materials; rather, they collaborated with INEC to go against the order of the tribunal.

The Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) has insisted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) won Essien Udim Local Government Area in Saturday’s election.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who is a ranking member of the APC, hails from Essien Udim.

Chairman of AKISIEC, Aniedi Ikoiwak, had declared Ntiedo Usoro of the APC as the elected candidate for Essien Udim LGA, while stating that the PDP reportedly won all other LGAs of the state.

But a video posted on social media showed Inyang Ating, a professor from the University of Uyo, who served as the Returning Officer (RO) for the election in Essien Udim, declaring PDP’s Enobong Patrick as winner.


Video evidence contradicts Akwa Ibom electoral body, shows PDP won
“I hereby certify that I was the Returning Officer for the election held on the 5th of October 2024. The election was contested, and the candidates received the following votes: Hon. Ntiedo Usoro of the APC: 686 votes; Engr. Enobong Patrick Friday of the PDP: 55,612 votes.”

“Engr. Enobong Patrick Friday, having complied with the requirements of the law and having scored the majority of votes, is hereby declared elected. He also received more than 25% of the votes in all 13 wards of Essien Udim. I so declare, and I hereby sign as the Returning Officer,” he had said.


Reacting, Ikoiwak said the RO for Essien Udim in the election was Prof. Uduak Okon of the Department of Medical Sciences, University of Uyo, and not Ating as claimed in the viral video.

Ikoiwak explained that he had received a report from the Assistant Electoral Officer (AEO) that the Electoral Officer sent to the area had absconded with ballot materials sent to Essien Udim and hurriedly send the AEO back with necessary materials to conduct the election and bring the result.

He insisted that the RO for Essien Udim in the election was Prof Okon, who announced the election result for APC as 51,751 and PDP as 22,799 votes, and declared Usoro as the elected candidate for the LGA.


“The man who claimed to be the returning officer in Essien Udim was not on the list of appointed Returning Officers for the Saturday’s exercise, the winning margin by the PDP candidate on the video was too overwhelming to have denied the winner and his supporters did not revolt.

“It was when they discovered that the what the Polling Officer did in Essien Udim was discovered by AKISIEC, that they hurriedly went to somewhere in Ewet Housing, to do the video, using drivers and unidentified persons as their crowd to present what they presented to mislead the public.

“By the time they brought their result, they were told that Essien Udim’s result was already filed and I had insisted that results must be recorded on form 08D and that is what was accepted from all the LGAs,” he said..

The election was rigged. That is a fact. Edo is not Lagos. Look at the video well. That cannot be 5% of the school. Even if Edo people voted APC it cannot be more than 10%.
Will any sane person vote APC or even vote their candidate. This is 2027 loading . Those saying PBAT cannot win . Obaseki knew Edo cannot vote APC but underestimated that art of APC and INEC in rigging above the will of the ppl
