Culture / Read This And You Won't Abuse Ibadan People Again. by OKURINMETA: 10:21am On Sep 21, 2017
Middle East Approach to the Ibadan Question

Have you ever passed through Ibadan and wonder how old and inglorious it is; dusty brown roofs and rusting ceilings, traditional people with strong accent and a whole lot of face hiding memes on the internet. For starters am not from Ibadan, so this is not a deliberate attempt to defend the city or its decaying state.
I read from history that those dusty brown roofs once housed the intellectual powers of Nigeria (Soyinka,JP Clark, D.O Fagunwa, Amos Tutola, Achebe, Irele), it had TV station before Paris, first skyscraper in tropical Africa, first housing estate in Nigeria (Bodija Housing Estate),first university in Nigeria, first set of research centers in Nigeria, industries owned by Nigerians( Standard breweries and Dr Pepper Soft drink by Chief Bode Akindele in Alomaja in Ibadan, Exide Batteries ,Layland Autos), companies and business gurus lived and thrived there to mention a few: Nathaniel Idowu, Amos Adegoke, Lekan Salami, Alao Arisekola, Adeola Odutola, Jimoh Odutola, Chief Theophilus Adediran Oni. Without a doubt Ibadan was the great capital of the Yoruba nation with many firsts, it is on good record that in 1956 the Queen of England formally commissioned the first double gauge road in Nigeria (Mokola to Agodi road in Ibadan), Ibadan was a well planned urban city. But like the changing of the day, the whole city looks like an artifact in a big museum called Nigeria. Its people no longer pride herself with giant leaps and breakthroughs, like I wrote in Ode to my glorious days “it’s all gone”. It was the bedrock of western civilization in Nigeria, the political theatre of the old western region; as a matter of fact it was the heart beat of the great Western Region days!
The Ibadan question has been on my mind ever since I heard my roommate Otuyemi Adetayo amd Ogunaike Mayowa argue about the uncivilized state of the capital, although I didn't contribute to the daily argument but I took a lot of mental notes. The Ibadan question has long caused me sleepless nights, what happened? Why is the giant still asleep”, where are the pacesetting ideology that glorified the motherland? JP Clark's answer of mismanagement to the Ibadan question was a guiding light to search further.
We need not search further! The story of Ibadan is not different from that of the Islamic Arab civilization which pioneered many fields of human endeavor for 1,000 years only to lose the pioneering spirit and ideology which according to Rashid All Maktoum (Ruler of Dubai) was the essence of their entire civilization. Ibadan lost its place among the great cities because it betrayed its motto of 'pacesetting', is there any notable pacesetting event or agenda like the days of old? The death of the pacesetting ideology of Ibadan has made its people a tag along, the Yoruba hinterland suffers as a result of Ibadan following and not setting the pace for development and the greatness of the Yoruba ideology and communalism.
The leadership plague that has bedeviled the ancient city is one of sharp contrast to the caliber of men at the forefront of its development in time past, there's need for a new generation of leaders who understand the strategic and historical importance of Ibadan to the Western Nigeria, all Constituted Authorities should take the hard road as opined by Awolowo to reach and keep our place at the top. It’s time to dream big and mobilize our resources to achieve our pacesetting ideology, I dream of a time when it shall be said that if it is not the first then it is not Ibadan! But dream is cheap; I believe that the surest and effective way to the great future we earnestly desire lies in our creative and pacesetting approach, Ibadan was a pacesetting city and will become so once again provided we regain the core element we have lost - the pacesetting Spirit.
Our history is our pride and a clue to where our destiny lays-“PACESETTING

Politics / Nairalanders: Join Me Say No To Amalgamation Day by OKURINMETA: 1:58pm On Sep 14, 2017
I read in Thisday newspaper of September 13th, 2017 about the unification speech of His Eminence ,Sa'ad Abubakar III the Sultan of Sokoto;what followed was a write up by Magbus Onyibe( A development Strategist and former commissioner in Delta State) titled 'Let's celebrate what Unites Us' so important was this article that it occupied both the guest column and the midweek politics section. Without a doubt it is an attempt at steering the ship of the current debate from the aqua of division to the harbor of unification.

In my opinion this article is an apologetic Burguioisie Attempt to rewrite history and make the devil appear as a child of light. Permit me to say without ambiguity that I support the unification attempt of other well meaning Nigerians including the columnist and his Eminence, however, what I found unacceptable is the approach taken by the columnist and his notion of celebrating "Amalgamation Day" as what unites us, this shouldn't be a surprise as solution is the new problem of the world.

I disagree with this notion stating unequivocally that the event of 1914 is the saddest event in our history and by extension the African continent which Nigeria dominates population-wise(1 in 5 African in a Nigerian), because of this singular event in 1914, we have experienced civil war, coup and counter coup, fantastically corrupt political space, exploitation, dependency and death of Nationalism(its on record that the protectorate never saw themselves as Nigerians but different nations coming together to form Nigeria).we need not celebrate an event like the Berlin conference which decided our destiny without our active participation!
Without micing words the Amalgamation of 1914 is a systematic failure that was put in place for exploitation and imperialistic expansion, little wonder it was opposed by a large section of the political class and the media in the 1900's. The question that begs for answer is; has anything changed since 1914?,the reason for the Amalgamation is still been felt all over the nation, many don't feel they belong to this marriage of inconvenience, even the sage(Awolowo) once opined that we are nothing but a mere geographical area. Attempts at unification without proper context of history won't help us at all, other cosmetic solution to our unification like NYSC and Unity school won't help either because you can't force a people to be together, the 100 years experience has showed this in no uncertain terms.
His Eminence pointed out that God doesn't make mistakes and the creation of our nation had God's hand in it, without a doubt God doesn't make mistakes but let's not forget God has two plans according to my Christian knowledge: permissive and perfect will, I strongly believe we have been living as a nation in the permissive will where anything goes for the last century, I therefore suggest that we move to his perfect will which I believe is A restructured Nigeria along regional lines, let's not forget that the God that anointed Saul rejected him and chose David later. Its time for our Davidic experience as a nation. A choice is before us today let's choose Unity in diversify (Restructured Nigeria).Awolowo once said of all things wrong with the constitution of old , Regionalism was not one of them!

In conclusion I say No to Amalgamation day! We should celebrate days that shows our determination and pride as a nation eg. Oct 1 , May 29 and most important in modern time June 12.

Religion / Sinner's Dream by OKURINMETA: 10:27pm On Sep 10, 2017
To come to the savior yet I can't!

To gaze upon his beauty yet unholiness hinders me

Wish I could crawl to him and cry out my soul

But by the law am a walking soulless corpse

Blinded by my wrong choices

Life in disarray, chaos in an understatement

History and society is a constant reminder of my trespasses

Loads of condemnation, I so wish to kiss it out on his feet

Body pierced with sickness blood running like the fountain

Progress halted!

All gloom and sinking doom

Gone pass the joyful bus stop of hopelessness

Sin drives me on

Depression is far behind me now

Could see it from the rear view

In my precarious state yet I dream on about the savior but I wonder:

Who shall I call to? Isnt it obvious that I can't help myself regardless of my effort over and again

If he's truly the savior, sin shouldn't keep him at bay

Is he blind that he can't see me drenched in my call for help?

Is he so rigid that he can't rescue a sinner who loves what he has heard?

Will he open his door seeing that there's nothing praise worthy about me?!

I hope he sees me with his eyes of grace and embrace me with the compassion of mercy

Want to hold your hand as I walk through the valley of self defeating thoughts

I crave to hear the blast of the angels trumpet as you run to me

I wonder if there's any love left for me to scavenge

Wanna be soul tied to you with wreckless abandon

I hope there's a room left for one more sinner

I earnestly desire that we laugh and talk it all over an atmosphere of love and no condemnation

This sinner dream is to be in his Savior's arm of love forever!

Politics / 2019 Election: Two Questions Atiku Must Answer To Win! by OKURINMETA: 11:42am On Sep 08, 2017
It is safe to say that the north whichever side(core or liberal) will be in power for the next eight years after this "SAD REGIME" of Buhari ends in 2019; the political elites know this and the earlier the populace come to terms with this the better we can align ourselves with the reality that beckons every time the north rules.
Without fear or favour the three main aspirants from the North are Atiku, Buhari and El-rufai, a lot has been said about the last two.
Atiku as a candidate has a lot of questions to answer, permit me to ask him these two:
Relevance:
I logged in to Twitter and saw a poll of youth preference for president come 2019 and to my surprise you were behind Buhari in third place as Jonathan claimed first place. These are youth that decide elections, lead public opinion and who you might lead if you win the election. You trending on twitter for comical reasons, won't help you stay relevant , as a matter of fact many savege your post more than acknowledge it as a key note adresss. I read about your clamour for restructing and I asked myself if you couldn't restructure when Nigeria's history gave u a tabula rasa in 1999 and again in 2003 with power as the VP, what assurance do we have you will as president, what political machinery do you have that can bring this dream to reality.
Recently I saw a pic of you eating jollof rice with kids and I laughed! reason? 2019 is around the corner and politicians are forming relevance with cheap political PR stunts. The fact that you don't have any political achievement personally since you left office in 2003 really puts a dent on your relevance as a politician in Nigeria.. Dear Atiku how relevant are you?

Trust:
Many are of the opinion that you are disloyal and power greedy, they ask the one million dollar question "what is he looking for, if not power to avenge his enemies" how do you respond to this Sir?
Furthermore, I watched hard talk on the BBC network some times ago and i saw your former boss kill your image while defending himself and his cabinet, only to single you out for corrupt practices in front of millions both home and abroad, this is bad for your reputation.
Also, your inability to answer the PTF corruption questions makes many doubt your anti-corruption rhetoric, although to your credit you have never been found guilty of any financial crime by EFCC or other bodies in Nigeria but we all know how judgement works in Nigeria. Much more, a recent poll was conducted as to what comes to Mind when your name is mentioned and out of the 10 thousand people that votes; 84% said corruption comes to mind when your name is mentioned as against 16% who chose fight against corruption.Others opined that you want to buy the presidency. Your battered image is not helping.
The disloyal pendulum swinging on your head has not helped much, a lot of youth that I have spoken to nailed you to the cross with this. Obasanjo was not a saint in government but for OBJ to oppose your candidate because of this single attitude is worrisome, it will take a PR Miracle to clear this bad air around you.
With your wealth of experience in Government from the days of SDP I ask my self could it be because of this negative public view of disloyalty that makes the core north favour El-Rufai against you?

Poems For Review / Ode To My Glorious Days - A Poem by OKURINMETA: 7:24pm On Sep 07, 2017
Ode to my glorious days
Mouths hailing like Ali in the jungle
Peeps wanting attention like I hold the key to their soul
I had it all figured out
Fine-chin strap,pencil and a nice flowing shirt
Could see their ears tingle at the sound of my voice
Crafty like a pen
Confidence on fleek
Bouncing like a 6'4 Impala
No attention given -plenty recovered
Yet clean record no blood
Always someone wanting to feel!
But like the changing of the day
ICHABOD is all I remember
Well grounded in shame, broke and ugly
With more time and no money
I have turned to a reference point for once glorious days
Dem girls don't flitch no more
They pretend am not there
No one on the street hailing the Aliness in me
Its all quiet now
No more money- no more love
Ah! how has the mighty fallen?!
So deep!
Being crowned  with mud looks like royalty
Ode to glorious days!!!

Sports / My Experience As An Arsenal Fan by OKURINMETA: 12:22pm On Aug 28, 2017
Arsenal FC; MY PAIN
The season was 04/05, arsenal was riding on the clouds (double champions) the future was great at least, the noise of arsenal triumph and style of play was louder than a thousand bomb oh yeah ‘the invincibles’ I can remember paying to watch Arsenal games as satellite TV was a luxury then, at times I had to watch from my neighbors window as we demolished teams with reckless abandon we were truly invincible, no other club captured my heart but Arsenal.
Fast-forward to 05/06 season and we were cruising to the final to beat Barca or so I thought, wish I could watch live in the stadium but all I had on me then was 50 naira (less than 1 dollar) which was not enough to buy snacks at the stadium, so I decided to spend my last 50 naira placing a bet on Arsenal against my Liverpool classmate who was so sure we were going to lose but I never doubted our credentials; I had invested my windows mite on my favorite club in the world, only God knew how I got home that day. I got home to watch the game and we were up I was ecstatic! We are going to win no contest only for Henry to miss! from there on all things fell apart and the center couldn’t hold we lost and it was devastating to watch, I cried my eyes till my pupils turned red,I prayed hoping that some miracle would happen. Dad came back and told my little sister to call me, she saw me crying and I screamed at her; she ran out saying it was only a game no it wasn’t it’s my team losing a final so so sad, it’s fair to say that all things went south since we lost the final.
On August 28th 2011, I saw horror; Arsenal was demolished and humiliated 8-2, I had fumbled to anyone who cared to listen including my dad and I had to dance to the rhythm of shame in the public square alone. we were well beaten, watching every minute was horrible to make matters worse Chelsea and Man U fans were trolling us singing in unison “Bosenawon lojuwon le Halleluiah”( the more we beat them the more their face harden, hallelujah), after the thrashing unlike Liverpool I walked alone; I walked in front with my football enemies behind me throwing trolls at me, one of them said “hey bro are you sure you can walk home” the other “shouted please hold him and escort him home to make sure he doesn’t die from the shame”, truth be told I couldn’t walk well; almost fell down to their amusement.
As if that was not enough we played Liverpool during the deadly SSS period and I was ill; had just taken my last injection to treat malaria, I went to the viewing center to cool off hoping that the boys will make me feel alright I was wrong very wrong! We lost and sweat came rushing on me like Niagara fall, it was as though I had woken up in the middle of an operation the whole crowd at the viewing center were surprised seeing me sweat under the beating we received that day, please don’t ask me how I got home that day all I remember is that arsenal made my malaria worse.
I Don’t want to talk about CHELSHIT triumphs over us for my enemies are many in that London club but pain is an understatement whenever they beat us but thrashing them twice last season was enough.
Yesterday’s game was beyond human comprehension from the tactics to every detail; l was down with typhoid and wanted to collect my last injection but first Arsenal’s Match, this time the trolling Liverpool fans were in my living room I was shocked by what I saw and the fear of the last injection was sky high; if arsenal doesn’t kill me nothing else will .My phone was on fire calls from mostly chelshit fans, lot of voice notes, messages on twitter and whatsApp too, I need to check my blood pressure, thank God I don’t have to watch Arsenal’s game for days, what a sad relief! As for Arsene Wenger I have unprintable opinion about him I respect his old age never the less “Wenger out”.

Crime / Baddo In Ikorodu: My Experience by OKURINMETA: 9:13am On Aug 25, 2017
To paraphrase the holy scripture there’s darkness in Ikorodu and Gross darkness upon the people of Odogunyan, Odonla, Rofo, Agbede which is the northern part of the city.
I woke up on Wednesday the 28th of june and walked outside my gate and saw my neighbors discussing something, no one was smiling so I knew it was serious ,walked up to them and then it dropped on me like little boy on my Hiroshima heart! An entire generation has been wiped out by Baddo! What a feat! even Hitler couldn’t achieve with the holocaust, my phone was on fire, caller ID? DADDY! How far where are u? in the area I said, have u heard? Yes I said, please be careful and don’t go walking about like a jobless man that you are; true I am jobless even an advanced degree in international relations after studying mass communication has not helped much. Boy I was scared to my pants, this time my crest has fallen, close all doors and windows and stay at home, he advised. Thank you Sir and he ended the call.
Still thinking about the call and his words then my whatsapp message icon beckoned, it was picture from the Baddo holocaust at Rofo, couldn’t look more than a second, I have seen pictures of their abomination before and I pray for protection for all and heaven for the victims but not this time I was affected because Rofo is minutes from my house. it was horror unleashed upon a quiet and industrial town.
All day long I couldn’t help but think of what the night holds, how do I sleep?, I tried my best to enjoy the day but who sets fire on his roof and snores away?, I tried some more to laugh away the fear but this calamity won’t be reduced to a joke, I resolved to run far away to the island should it persist.
Fast forward to night I was home alone with all doors closed as instructed by my Dad, all windows shut for the fear of their magical powder that reminds one of sleeping beauty, every movement around was suspicious, to make matters worse, men with ladder thought it best to take away the electrical supply, it was all dark dripping with evil and blood oh I haven’t been scared like this since ever. My heart was pacing, I could hear the echo of me breathing.
In time my dad drove in and we spoke about the whole Baddo thing and what he has heard about it all, he went to his room and slept but he couldn’t sleep, his mind was wide awake, he got up came to the living room to ask for the third time if I had locked all doors and windows i answered and he was like don’t sleep with your eyes closed. He went to his room for the final time and I went into mine drinking bottled water not knowing what might happen next, the wordings of the song Crazy World by Luky Dube came to me saying ‘common now little boy say your prayers before you sleep, little boy went down on his knees and he said oh Lord now I lay me down to sleep I pray that lord my soul to keep and if I die before I wake I pray that lord my soul to take’ I added forgiveness of sin to my little boy’s prayers , all doors closed and windows, tried to sleep but my mind and heart won’t keep quiet.
At around 11 pm I heard the sound of a whistle far away, it was one I am familiar with but something unusual about tonight’s own, it was a call and response signal, the vigilante were around and were signaling to each other; this brought a little relief to my soul yet sleep continues to elude even as I close my eyes. Many thoughts ransacked my mind when the whistle got quiet to make matters worse we have an uncompleted building at the back of our house, what if they are hiding there?

Jokes Etc / Share Your SHIT Experience While Travelling by OKURINMETA: 11:15pm On Aug 17, 2017
hello house,

Last year August, I had an experience I haven't forgotten , kindly read and share yours.

I was travelling to Osun State from Lagos for my sis induction, Soon I began to feel a tingling sensation in my stomach and downwards, I feared the worse and I needed to visit the toilet and it was still manageable, we got to a filling station and told Dad that I wanted to visit the gents but he said not here!, mehn this is trouble… my dad friend bought obey at 70 CD and he played it.
With fire in my ass we got to Ife road but there was traffic, as I saw it the shit got angrier and almost bursted, oh my! How long will this hold up go now, I went down to look for myself and pee and really wanted to enter the bush but was scared of what I might see, what do I tell dad plus what if a Nairalander decided to snap and post, crazy thought but ass still on fire!!!!, the cause of the hold up?, a CBN van carrying money broke down and they won’t let anyone overtake for security reasons so we all on standby especially those leaving Ife, was praying for a miracle because I needed one badly, this shit won’t let me sit well, had to change sitting style every 10 seconds, sweat started coming out, but I was still there with fire in my ass made worse by police who blocked us, I voiced out to my dad that I can’t take it anymore and he asked what I ate and told him birthday fried rice and indomie..my sis laughed, Dad opine that I do my dirty business in a near by filling station, to make matters worse all the filling stations were on the left side of the road..omg, this is bad can’t close my Anus for so long, soon we saw one but dad’s friend opine that there’s a mobil filling station in front we went on for minutes without seeing nothing…I looked my eyes turned red, had to hold it, I refused to spoil my fine boy look and all but it wasn’t easy o, driver made things worse by saying no Mobil station on the road, dad's friend argued otherwise, chai I have suffered today, shit about to drop and two old men are arguing about where to drop it , just couldn’t wait to get this out, soon ray of hope as we spotted Mobil, omg it felt like a bottle of chilled yedigun on a hot Cyprus day, couldn’t wait to park and jump out and bam into the toilet, I took bottle water from the car, on zooming to the gents I saw water on the floor, plenty but don’t mind if that’s the Jordan to cross to my promise land but the red sea was not the hindrance, there was no toilet… oh God what Is my offence and you decided to punish me this way, what have I done to deserve this? i should have listened to my cousin’s eternal advice of always taking flagyl whenever I travel but it is too late to regret now, a gent without toilet..ah see what Aregbe has caused!!!, I saw the female toilet with a woman coming out with tissue, it was water lodged too but no time to complain, she was surprised how I rushed in and tried closing the door but without success as the door is bad and the toilet seat was something else, I struggled to close door but gave up and I pulled down my trouser shit came rushing down like the little boy(first atomic bomb) on Hiroshima, damn it came running, I had to check m trouser to make sure I wasn’t stained but was a struggle holding the door, shitting and shoe swimming in water, soon a woman came to knock but I was groaning, I flushed, my sis couldn’t use it, my dad complained that I spent plenty of time in there, was like if only he knew…so enroute Oshogbo and started singing. I called my Doc sis to get flagyl and she said she has at home, but this shit wont free me, it was at it again, this time deadlier but could hold it, as we got down go eat at gbogan, I whispered to the driver and he got me pure water(2), and walked towards the bridge of gbogan and saw a bush, my dad’s driver accompanied me but told him to go back so we don’t get spooked, he went back to eat and I released it all , my ass was hot and paining me… damn, I cleaned up, washed my hand with soap and sat down with pounded Yam and vegetable with bush meat,

Politics / Its Him..its Neo-colonialism by OKURINMETA: 10:43pm On Aug 17, 2017
IT’S HIM…..Its NEO-COLONIALISM
Knock ! knock !! knock!!!
Okurinmeta: Come in
(Comes in and sits down)
Stranger: Where are you people now?
Okurinmeta: Hmmm, from foothold (slave trade) to stronghold (colonialism) and now at stranglehold as we vomit our riches to Kosiri across the seven seas.
Please I beg you don’t ask me what Neo-Colonialism is, please don’t, coming from my street you must have seen him waving his hands at you but perhaps you didn’t, let me help you get to know him
Stranger: Can’t wait……
Okurinmeta: People say his head is like his system covered with a beautiful cap yet rotten to the skull
Just like the eagle he sees his prey (opportunity) from afar and sabotages the people’s progress devouring them by the systematic application of pain.
Stranger: People say?
Okurinmeta: Yeah, they also say he hears the cry of my people as the songs of heavenly Jerusalem which no man can get enough of, so my people keep crying to make him happy. Hmmm (breaths down heavily)
Stranger: Are you sick?
Okurinmeta: I fear for my life, just because of his carbon dioxide we are dying per day, as his nose breaths death for all to inhale, Air pollution is what am talking about stranger. Just like the scriptural devil he has three mouth fold mission on my people, He feeds on the riches of my people and now contending for world’s biggest man
Stranger: laugh
Okurinmeta: It is not a laughing matter
His tongues licks blood of my people as honey
His smiles with the tears of children as there is no age limit to the work load.
Stranger: with all these trouble he makes your people pass through, he must pay so much for your people to continue working for him,
Okurinmeta: The crumbs that falls from his hand is what my people floats on, he pays kobo for a million
Stranger: paying kobo for a million? He must be a wise man
Okurinmeta: Are you saying my people are foolish ….ehn….answer me, but on a second thought you may be right that he’s wise as there will only be another carrot for the donkey tomorrow
Stranger: He must be a wicked man at heart?
Okurinmeta: His heart conveys his purpose , they say his heart beat servitude per second per second.
Stranger: how far do you think he intends to go?
Okurinmeta: Heard from the Delilah he has slept with that he intends to spread the fruit of his tentacles throughout the so called Dark Continent and beyond but beginning from my area
Stranger: your area must be blessed with resources?
Okurinmeta: Come out stranger and lets go for a walk together, look around and see how precious land has been turned to dumping sites..If I catch him, if I catch him
Stranger: (silent)
Okurinmeta: Saw my fair friend yesterday and couldn’t recognize him, why you may ask? The fiery furnace hot as hell has bleached him black because of the fiery furnace effects on my people they are no more scared of hell fire, how hot could hell be they ask ever preacher who preaches against hell.
Stranger: is religion not the comfort of the poor man?
Okurinmeta: If it was nowadays I would be happy, their comfort is liquor that makes men mad and of course death which is the ultimate leveler and they hope to deal with him when they see him in the great beyond where everyone is equal.
Stranger: Are you saying your people can’t fight him?
Okurinmeta: If they could, they would but since they can’t, I shalln’t
Stranger: but you said if you catch him?
Okurinmeta: Yes if I catch him (looks at the stranger)
Stranger: Yes what will you do?
Okurinmeta: I will destroy him 1 by 1
Stranger: How
Okurinmeta: Look here stranger (stranger looks at him)…I will first remove his cap for all to see then his eyes…..wait a minute
Stranger: What?
Okurinmeta: You have his eyes
Your breath stinks
My God, look at your size
You’re him; you’re him (anger in his eyes)
Ejade oooo, come out everyone
See him….
Who is he? Asked a tall muscular man
Okurinmeta: He’s the one who enslaves you in your father’s land
Killed your youth and made your elderly; beggars and working class at old age, it’s him,
It’s him….. Its NEO-COLONIALISM

As soon as we left the induction party, we zoomed to the sacred grove, for real dunno what to expect, saw a big board with the Arugba picture, we went down a sloppy road and it was beside Lautech teaching hospital, my Doc sis refused to follow us, her reason? she just finished her induction ceremony and doesn’t want to see such things, so she dropped and 3 of us went ahead (driver, myself and elder sis), it was a lonely road with art and craft everywhere, mehn I was getting scared, many thoughts came to my head of what will to do if the goddess comes out, soon we got to the gate and tourist centre, we were told to pay fee which we paid , on our way we saw a lot of people coming from the stream with kegs of water on their head , as we journeyed deeper into the worship site we saw crafts of things looking like demons and ghost in mud color with big teeth, and we walked some more, I was scared very scared , wanted to turn back but curiosity led me on, was praying in my mind, God help me no mishap.. We went further, the road was free and companies sponsoring the festival were setting up, Mtn, Goldberg and Co. It was like we were walking in the middle of an evil forest…boy it was scary….lot of arts and all that, soon we got close to the main entrance to the worship site, i saw a mud house decorated with a lot of traditional items, I  saw sacrifices and a sculpture looking like an hunter; he’s the hunter that first discovered the stream. I also saw a lot of tourist, I asked one to take pictures of me and she obliged, we got close to the water and we were told to pull our shoes because it’s an holy site; some did but I wasn’t interested, a lot running through my mind what if the goddess comes out, where do I run to?...omg, my heart was pacing, the tour guide explained  more about the history, it was really scary… I saw the water and it was brown and flowing, later heard that it is herb for the sick, they pour sacrifices into the river, I had seen enough of the great Osun river then the tour guide spoke of how the goddess used to come out and bless the people but stopped coming out because white men wanted to kidnap the goddess, the tour guide explained that she still comes out and only those with spiritual eyes can see her.. my elder sis looked round, being a Christian was like hmmm… Worship of idol..i was like not now sis, see where we are, let’s get out of here first, what if the goddess comes out now, i can’t fight o,i heard more gist of how all children given by Osun must visit the groove no matter where they are in  the world, wow…we left and on our way as I was sightseeing, I saw alil boy in dreads holding tightly to his dad crying  Dad am scared I was like boy u not alone, I kept looking around, and all of a sudden I heard Ago onile(greetings to those who are home) and they shouted YeYe o(hailing Osun goddess as their mother) and as I looked up they were all in white cloths, my sis seeing this came closer and was like Ay as though I was not scared, she was just confessing some things earlier but boy she wasn’t expecting a challenge, Driver told her not to worry that nothing will happen and that they won’t hurt us, I was recording on Ipad when they came close I could  not record them, then I saw the crux of the matter, one of the worshippers approaching us all of a sudden couldn’t walk again she was helped  but couldn’t walk well, the woman leading them said the lady who couldn’t walk well must walk with in with her legs, I asked what happened to her and driver told me that osun ti gbe(meaning Osun has chosen her) chosen her? Yes he said, he explained that it is just like when Pentecostals go into the spirit, I asked what happens to her next and he said won ma tu lara( meaning she will be relieved after some rites have been done), I  have seen a lot couldn’t wait to leave. We entered the car and saw my Doc sis seating and waiting for us. she entered and I asked the driver what if someone lives in that forest he said the person will have to live with bush babies and monsters, demons etc.. as we went away from the groove, my Doc sis explained how one of her Christian spiritual mother said she saw the goddess waving at her , I was very curios and  wasn’t satisfied with what I have heard, I kept asking why didn’t she come out?. We hooked up with Dad, ate dinner and was scared of Osun goddess appearing but nothing happened..lol…even now I can't resist singing the song "Osun Oshogbo Osun Oshogbo bo pemi make o"( Osun Osogbo if you call me I will answer)

Health / What I Saw At Iju Road This Morning by OKURINMETA: 8:45am On Jan 06, 2016
Hello house,
My boss sent me on errand to Iju and just before dodo foods I saw these guys begging, I was so touched I decided to share it with the house, despite their condition and inability they were praising God and praying for people at first I was stunned and decided to drop something like the others. Dunno if there's any body in Nigeria responsible for these guys but really they need help, their prayers will move your hands to your pocket to drop something, dunno if it's a regular routine but AV never seen anything like this before! Let's help the disabled and less privilege among us and God will bless us.
