The season is officially over as far as we are concerned

A week later friday morning we are at the luxurious park ,heading back to Lagos, school resumes all over Nigeria in two days time which is Monday

Later all head to the village square to watch the masquerades entertain

With a lot of this music is never in short supply

They impress with their best dress of the year, and ensure it captured by the camera lens of onyemama photos

Its a day our senior bros dem have to impress their village beauties as they hang out or come visiring

It is the day we are not restricted to the quantity of food we consume

But we are restricted to this as children which we prefer

De john has assured grandpa that this will never be in short supply

Few hours before noon friends and relatives starts arriving

Next morning here comes the new year, and we all get up to watch as justice is done to the goat that was bought

It is also the night in which we show off how tough we are with a lot of this which continues till the morning

And by night fall on new years eve,everyone including the family of the village juju priest all head to church for the new year cross night

That's what we've been waiting for

And now its d new year's eve, and we head to orie market to get this

Then comes more of this

Sometimes we get these as reward in a large tray or basin where we all have to joyfully feast together

We are rewarded with this

After the big masquerades we form our own little masquerades moving from home she to house entertaining them

And how can I forget the good old Christmas cards that were being exchanged

We go to see the masquerades entertain the whole community

Here is d main fun

Then comes Christmas morning morning ,we iron out Christmas clothes with this,can't wait to get back from the church for the rice and chicken

Iit is time to spend all the money we've been saving up on this.filling up the air with smell of gunpowder

Then comes d various end of year festivals in d village where all gets entertained

It doesnt take long for us to blend with other kids, playing and going to d stream and playing around the village

Finally we the village ,and excitement cannot be quantified as we are welcomed by relations and neighbours, there is the smell of Christmas all over that comes with harmattan breeze and burning farms

After few hours Onitsha bridge is in sight, the excitement increases,the village is nearer

The excitement includes the stop by at ore or Benin city to eat, bakers along the expressway,hawking bread and other stops at the several toll gates, and brief stops to relief ourselves
