The monarch also hailed the strength and vision of the party’s National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, saying his perceived stubbornness is for what is right and what the people want.



Akiolu spoke yesterday at the fund-raiser for Oyo State Education Trust Fund (Oyo ETF) in Ibadan, the state capital.

He said Asiwaju Tinubu is a visionary leader who stands for what is right and the interest of the people, adding that it was the reason former President Olusegun Obasanjo described him as “stubborn”.

Oba Akiolu said: “Obasanjo always says Tinubu is stubborn. Yes, he is, but that is for the right reasons because he enjoys my support. Tinubu stands with the people. And whether anybody likes it or not, he is a force to reckon with in Nigerian politics today.”

For those doubting the possibility of APC’s success in the next general elections, Oba Akiolu said: “Let me tell you all: no party will wrest power from the APC. I’m not hiding it. God chose Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and he has our support. But things must be put right at the Federal level. Let everyone do good and stand for honesty.”



Oyo ETF’s chairperson, Mrs Onikepo Akande, described the initiative as ushering in a new dawn in the Education sector.

She said it was the first time the organised private sector (OPS) was uniting to support the repositioning of education in a state.

Mrs Akande hailed Ajimobi for coming up with the idea, adding that it was a unique way to address the challenges confronting education in the state.

The Oyo ETF chairperson advised participants to donate generously to the fund.

According to her, the fund will be used to upgrade infrastructural facilities, including classrooms, laboratories and libraries.

The ETF, she said, would also join in training teachers, awarding scholarships to indigent students and meeting education-related needs.

Mrs Akande promised to be accountable for the funds generated.

Ajimobi said the initiative was dear to him, assuring that it would restore the status of the state as the Pace Setter, if well managed.

The governor said government alone could not fully fund education, adding that the state’s ETF was a product of thinking out of the box.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday expressed optimism that in no distant time, Lagos would produce its first elected female Governor of the State.
Governor Ambode, who spoke when he received the One-Day Governor of the State, Miss Zuffon Bukola and members of her cabinet at the Exco Chambers, Lagos House in Ikeja, said that the emergence of Miss Zuffon and the One-Day Deputy Governor, Miss Rosemary Ogidan was a signpost to what the future portends for the State.
Zuffon, a 16 year-old SS 2 student of Awodiora Senior Secondary School, Ajegunle emerged the One-Day Governor of the State after she emerged winner at a keenly contested Spelling Bee Competition in June 2017, while Ogidan, also an SS 2 student of Methodist Senior High School, Badagry finished as runner up.
According to the Governor, the emergence of two females as One-Day Governor and Deputy Governor of the State clearly indicates that a female can likewise be elected as the Governor of the State.
He said: “This is a significant day for Lagos State and it also signals what the future actually holds for Lagos State in which we have seated here, two female strong members of the new State Executive Council and we have a female Governor and a female Deputy Governor.
“It is also telling us a story about what the future of Lagos is all about that one day we would find seated here, not just a day governor, but for a period or tenure of four years, there would be a female Governor in this State.
“We’ve had female Deputy Governors in this State; it also says something that these younger ones are telling our women in Lagos to rise up and actually take their position.”
He said the State Government was encouraged by the exploits of past One Day Governors and their cabinet members who are excelling in their various endeavours, just as he commended parents of the students as well as the school management for all the efforts put into bringing out the best in them.
Governor Ambode also commended Zuffon and her cabinet members, noting that their feat was an indication that the funds expended by the State Government to improve the educational sector was not in vain, adding that efforts would be intensified to further develop the sector.
“I want to congratulate her and her cabinet members for also showing to us that the future of education in Lagos is strong. We believe that the resources we are spending in the educational sector are not going to be a waste and they have also shown that they are ready to succeed us as long as we encourage them.
“So we’ll do everything just like what we have been doing in the last two years to continue to pay greater attention to education and also make sure that we do so much in youth development to allow them to be mentally capable of succeeding us even as we move away from all the things we have done in the public service,” the Governor said.
In order to encourage their efforts, Governor Ambode awarded full scholarship to the One Day Governor, Miss Zuffon and her Deputy, Miss Ogidan while also announcing a cash donation of N1million each to them.
The Governor also awarded a cash donation of N500, 000 each to members of the One Day Governor’s cabinet consisting of Master Tovishede Ayobami (Secretary to the State Government); Master Philip Daniel (Speaker of the House of Assembly); Master Durojaiye Oluwasegun (Commissioner for Education); Master Atabo Ufedojo (Commissioner for Science and Technology).
Earlier, Miss Zuffon while addressing Governor Ambode and members of the State Executive Council commended the Governor for his visionary leadership and numerous achievements especially in the educational sector, saying that despite the economic challenges, teachers’ salaries and entitlements were being paid as at when due.
Zuffon, who is aspiring to become a lawyer, also seized the occasion to request for a School Bus, renovation of the school’s multipurpose hall as well as construction of drainage channels in her school, which Governor Ambode expressly granted.
In a related development, wife of the Governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode who received Zuffon and her cabinet members congratulated them for emerging winners in the various categories of the keenly contested competition and for doing their families, schools and local governments proud.
She charged them to remain focused and study harder to actualize their dreams, praying that God would take them to higher positions in life.
The wife of the governor commended the initiator of the Spelling Bee Competition, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and the organizers for their steadfastness since inception of the competition 17 years ago.

Controversial Nigerian Senator, and self-styled anti-corruption activist, Dino Melaye is in the news again. This time, it is about a move by his constituents to eject him from the parliament over what they term as continuous embarrassment and poor representation.

Hundreds of protesters from the seven local government areas, comprising Kogi West senatorial zone, recently marched to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lokoja, demanding the recall of Senator Melaye.

They have already initiated action on his recall. Yesterday, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, formally received the 188,588 signatures out of the 360,098 registered voters in Kogi West representing 52.3% percent required for Melaye's recall.

But, why would Melaye's constituents want him recalled? What are his offences? His constituents - who are fed up of him - listed some offences on which they based his recall. Nigerian Bulletin gathered some of them to include:

1. He Has No Constituency Office In Kogi – “He has not deemed it fit to have a Constituency Office in Kogi West Senatorial Zone even after 2 years in the Senate, meaning he has no presence in the Zone and we have no way of reaching our Senator.

2. No Projects After 2 Years As Senator – He has no projects initiated in the constituency after 2 years in the Senate.

3. He's Wont For Controversial And 'Irresponsible' Utterances – He is known for a continuous flow of irresponsible utterances which embarrass the constituency. For example: ‘I will beat…impregnate you’ referring to a fellow Senator and the wife of the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu.

“He insulted former President Olusegun Obasanjo; he insulted President Muhammadu Buhari.

“He not only insulted Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, but he travelled all the way from Abuja to the leader’s home in Lagos looking for a fight.

“He insulted the Sultan of Sokoto,calling him an Islamist with a Muslim agenda in Kogi State, simply because His Eminence visited to celebrate the 1st Anniversary of the Government of His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello.

“He routinely insults other leaders, elders and personalities.

“He persists in portraying our Senatorial Zone as hostile to the Administrations of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari and His Excellency, Governor of Yahaya Bello of Kogi State respectively, for no just cause and not minding the impact on us.

“He is notorious for conduct unbecoming of a Senator in the way and manner he relates to the Senate President as if he were a bodyguard or houseboy instead of a full Senator representing a proud constituency like us.

4. Scandals: He is enmeshed in a pending certificate scandal – we now believe he lied to us about his academic qualifications, part of the basis of which he sold his candidature.

He paints our dear Kogi State bad in the Press at every opportunity he gets for his own selfish political interests, many times without even a clear understanding of what he is talking about.

6. Questionable Source of Wealth – “His source of wealth is questionable to us and certainly not the model we wish our youth to emulate.

7. Corrupt Public Morals – He is indecent and deliberately corrupts public morals, for example, he routinely gives youths in the constituency who approach him for help N1000.00 or less, telling them to use it to buy condoms.

8. He Is 'Notoriously Corrupt' – He is notoriously corrupt and has been caught on video scheming steal the resources of Kogi State among himself and a few cronies calling us elephants to be killed and shared.

“He is an electoral fraud and has been caught on audio offering a Judicial Officer money to decide an electoral matter in his favour.

9. No Respect For Party Democracy - “He has no respect for Party democracy, and routinely flouts lawful decisions and directives of even his own party leadership.”

2019: Ogun Central APC chair endorses Adeola

In what appears like a political game changer in the race towards Ogun Government House, the Ogun Central Senatorial Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Kunle Adesina, has thrown his weight behind the speculated ambition of Sen. Solomon Adeola, to be governor of Ogun state come 2019.

Speaking to a crowd at the residence of another APC chieftain and a former member of the House of Representatives Hon. Segun Osibote, in Ijebu-Ife, in Ogun East, over the weekend, at a Ramadan ceremony, Hon. Adesina said it was only fair and just that Ogun West aspirant get the ticket for governor this time around as over the years the position has been monopolised by Egba (Central) and Ijebu (East), adding that in Sen. Adeola he saw a highly qualified and experience aspirant with good record of service in political offices.

The one-time member of the Ogun State House of Assembly traced the successful political history of Sen. Adeola and how he eventually emerged as a Senator of Lagos State after a sojourn for the same post in Ogun West of Ogun State stressing that from all available records and recommendation Senator Adeola is most suited for vie for the governorship slot from Ogun West.



“We cannot continue to rotate the governorship slot between Ogun Central and Ogun East and as our governor has said, it is only fair and just to support the aspiration of Ogun West this time around” he stated.

Other top leaders and politician who spoke at the event in support of the Central Senatorial chairman are Are Tunde Alabi, from Ogun Central and a former local government chairman and commissioner in Ogun State, Hon. Muftau Ajibola, a former House of Assembly member and former chairman of SUBEB under the first term administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Chief Samuel Aiyedogbon, former commissioner under Governor Amosun from Ogun West and the host Hon. Adeola was full of appreciation to those already sticking their necks out in support of his ongoing consultations on the desirability of taking Ogun State to greater heights adding that it was his steadfastness and delivery of democratic dividend to his constituents that has seen him re elected consecutively for higher offices in Lagos for four times in progressively higher offices.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) has trained traffic officers in seven states across the federation.



This according to the government, is in accordance with its age-long tradition of brotherhood, support, and cooperation with other sister states.
The states include Delta Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti, Kwara and Rivers.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Head, Public Affairs (LASTMA) Mamud Hasan.

According to the statement, Mr Yekeen Babatunde Bello is now heading the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA), Mr Femi Falade is in charge of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA). Both men were seconded from LASTMA.

In Delta, Ogun, Ekiti and Rivers States, LASTMA officials also carried out intensive training for traffic officers in a bid to acclimatize them to international best practices so as to make them more efficient and service driven.

Meanwhile, the State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode at the weekend approved the release of Dennis Oloriegbe of LASTMA to Edo State to resume as the new Managing Director of the State’s Traffic Management Agency.



Oloriegbe’s release was sequel to the request of the Edo State Government for him to come and reengineer, package and position the Edo State traffic outfit in accordance with the best global practices and also replicate the success story of LASTMA under the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in Edo State.

In addition, Governor Ambode also approved the training of officers of the Edo State Traffic Management Agency by LASTMA officials.

Before his appointment, Oloriegbe was the Chief instructor and head of the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI), Ikeja centre. He joined the service of LASTMA in the year 2000 and served in various capacities meritoriously to become a Zonal head, where he supervised and managed activities of over one hundred traffic officials successfully.

Because of his dedication to duty, astute knowledge, skills, and penchant for finding human and mechanical solutions to chronic traffic problems, Oloriegbe was seconded to the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute as one of the foundation staff and pioneer instructor.
He later became the head of the Ikeja Training Institute.

The Edo State-bound Oloriegbe is a consummate reader, excellent communicator and writer of many books on traffic control and management, and safe driving. During his tenure in the service of LASTMA, he demonstrated management acumen in handling human and material resources under him.

The new Managing Director is a versatile trainer who was trained in the United State of America and Europe by the Lagos State Government in simulation driving and testing, and modern approach to traffic management and control in complex and emerging cities.

Responding to the development, LASTMA’s General Manager, Mr Olawale Musa expressed his appreciation on behalf of the agency to Oloriegbe and wished him the best in his new assignment and other future endeavours.

HE Kogi State All Progressives Congress (APC), on Wednesday, lashed out at those behind the report purportedly credited to the state wing of the party which disparaged Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The masterminds were described as fifth columnists in the party, who lacked the locus standi to speak for it but out to cause disharmony among members.
But the party, in a statement by all members of its State Executive Council, led by the chairman, Alhaji Haddy Ametuo, said that APC members had no reason to disparage Senator Tinubu, adding that President Muhammadu Buhari would be supported to pick anybody, including Faleke, into the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

prior to the general election former Ogun state governor olusegun osoba left the APC boasting that with the political structure he has in Ogun state he can defeat the incumbent but I was very surprised that his so called SDP performed woefully during the just concluded general election in Ogun state since then we have not hear anything from him. has he gone on exile?
