Traders at the Relief Market in the Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra are counting their losses as floods caused by heavy rainfall washed away shops, electric poles and cables in the market. Caretaker committee chairman of the market, David Obidike, disclosed this during a tour of the affected areas while taking members of his executive and journalists around the portions on Saturday. “On one of the nights a few days ago, the Chief Security Officer of the market called me and told me that devastating flood from Awada Area, has carried the market as the flood entered under the Sakamori (drainage) system in the market and uprooted it, thereby wreaking havoc in the market. “The damage was much, about 10 shops were washed away with the wares in them, the electric armoured cables, big water-borne pipe and telephone cables buried underground were all exhumed and damaged by the flood.” Mr Obidike disclosed that floods had disrupted the power supply in the market since the beginning of the rainy season. https://gazettengr.com/flood-destroys-several-shops-in-anambra-market |

Governor Abiodun never issued any statement in response to Asiwaju Tinubu ---Ogun Govt The attention of the Ogun State Government has been drawn to comments purportedly made by Governor Dapo Abiodun in reaction to statements made by the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and presidential hopeful, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during his recent visit to party delegates in the state. For the avoidance of doubt, the tweet released this morning was an extract to re emphasize the comments of Governor Abiodun to party faithfuls and appointees on May 29 during the celebration of his third year in office, which also coincided with his 62nd birthday. The comments could, therefore, not have been a response to comments by Asiwaju Tinubu whose visits to Abeokuta came five days later. While Governor Abiodun appreciates the media, including online platforms, as partners in progress with Government, he enjoins media practitioners to always report the truth at all times and refrain from giving vent to fake news, distortions and misinterpretations . Asiwaju Tinubu Intervenes in Kano APC Dispute, Reaches Out to Governor Ganduje All Progressives Congress National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has stepped in to resolve the local political squabbles between Abdulmunin Jibrin and key stakeholders in his constituency. Abdulmumin Jibrin had announced his decision to leave the APC for an undisclosed party on Saturday. Jibrin did not give any reason for his decision to quit the APC, sources say this was related to the decision not to give him the party’s ticket to return to the house of representatives. There had been a crisis of confidence between Jibrin and Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, for some time over local political issues. Jibrin had represented Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives between 2011 and 2019 before losing the rerun election to the People’s Democratic Party’s candidate in 2020. Asiwaju Tinubu reportedly reached out to Governor Ganduje to reach a truce and ensure the unity withion the Kano State Chapter of the APC is not ruptured. The source said Asiwaju Tinubu has already intervened on Jibrin’s behalf with Governor Ganduje and everything will be resolved. “Jibrin is coming to see Asiwaju. Asiwaju has stepped in. Jibrin is having local issues with his constituency and Ganduje. Everything will be sorted,” https://www.facebook.com/100064534426548/posts/363722689122209/
