Politics / Palliatives: Why Photograph Of Gov Fintiri Is On Bags Of Rice – Aide by OladipupoIyowun(m): 1:06pm On Sep 08, 2023
Edgar Amos, Chief of Staff to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, has defended the decision to put the picture of the governor on bags of rice distributed to the public as palliatives.

Due to the hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy, the Federal Government had released money and food items to states.

Governors have been distributing the items and handing out money to residents of their states, though there has been a controversy on the worth of the things being given out.

In an interview on Channels TV, Amos said the picture of the governor was put on sacks of rice to ensure that the food items were not diverted or sold on the black market.

He said, “It is an argument for those who are already comfortable, by the way we see the photographs of Tinubu in all the offices of the country, whether you voted for Tinubu or not he is the president of Nigeria and you have his photographs.

"This is the governor of Adamawa State, whether you voted for him or not you have his photographs in offices, by the way, it has advantages, it means that somebody who wants to go and sell it in the market will not do so because it is already branded. It is a way of checking the abuse in the process.

“And this is the governor that is loved by the people, so you see picture of the one you love and eat the rice from the bag, so be it. Who do you think his photographs will be on the rice and it will be better sell for instance?

"Anybody who is hungry and is questioning the photographs on the bag of rice is not hungry man, definitely he is not, I don’t think the hungry man will question the photographs on the bag of rice.”

Romance / Amarachi Amusi: I’m Richer Than Most Of The Men Seeking To Marry Me, Skit Maker by OladipupoIyowun(m): 12:53pm On Sep 08, 2023
Amarachi Amusi, Nigerian skit maker and prominent brand influencer, popularly known as Ashmusy on social media, has shed light on the reason behind her single status.

The Instagram influencer said she remains unattached because she earns more than many of the men who approach her for a romantic relationship.

She made this revelation during her appearance as a guest on the latest episode of the “Tell Your Story” podcast, hosted by Aloma Isaac Junior, also known as Zicsaloma.

She said the issue of women earning more than men is one of the reasons many celebrity marriages/relationships don’t last.

She said, “With my status presently, most men I meet, I ask them sometimes like, ‘How much do you earn in a month?’ So that I can compare because I want a man that is bigger than me.

I want my man to be bigger than me; to be my head. To be way way richer than me like let my money be nothing compared to his, you know. But when I ask them (potential suitors about their earnings) and they tell me, even the ones that are doing good, I’m still doing better based on what I earn.

“So at the end, it is still like I’m still on top. Most men I meet are making less than what I make in a month. And it feels bad because I want some that will make more.”

In May this year, the skit maker said she is fulfilling her dream to become a billionaire before 30.

She spoke in an interview with Richard Igwe of Topnotch where she gave tips on fame and success.

“As a young businesswoman, I am working towards fulfilling my dream to become a billionaire before the age of 30,” she said.

With over 1.5 million followers on Instagram and over 100,000 subscribers on YouTube, Ashmusy is regarded as one of the successful female skit makers in Nigeria.

Investment / This Is The Best Time To Invest In Nigeria, Elumelu Tells Indian Investors by OladipupoIyowun(m): 12:36pm On Sep 08, 2023
Elumelu made this known during the Nigeria-India Presidential Roundtable and Conference on Wednesday, September 6th, 2023, in New Delhi, India.

The conference was jointly organised by the High Commission of Nigeria to India, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and the Nigeria-India Business Council (NIBC).

At the roundtable hosted by President Bola Tinubu, the Indian investors pledged investments of nearly $14 billion to Nigeria, following the president’s commitment to create the enabling environment for foreign investments to thrive.

During a keynote address, Elumelu highlighted the huge benefits in the most populous African country, which should drive the Indians to invest in Nigeria.

“This is the time to invest in Nigeria. I speak as a private sector investor in Nigeria, and the companies in our Group’s investment portfolio demonstrate the opportunity. I believe you also can take advantage of our track record and success,” Elumelu said.

Elumelu, who has built pan-African financial service businesses and controls significant power and natural resources operations, all focused on value creation in Africa, was in Delhi for the G20 Summit.

He visited India both as an invitee of President Tinubu and as co-chair of the Business 20 (B20) Action Council focusing on African economic integration, the private sector counterpart to the G20.

Speaking further, the United Bank of Africa CEO said, “Nigeria is a huge market; over 200 million people with the largest economy on the continent.
"Most importantly, the population is not just over 200 million people; the demography of the population is exciting. We have a cohort of young people who are there to consume, and we also have people who are intelligent, energetic, hardworking, who provide the human capital that investors need to drive their businesses.”
