Exemptions are not based on studying accouting or being an accounting graduate alone, your school must be ICAN ACCREDITED to be granted 2 papers from the skills level.. if not you will need to contact ICAN for directive!

You are right AbbyE, now we all know the 5-year rule applies only to candidates at the Professional level ... But there is still a question to be asked... What happen to the peeps at the skills level, does the 10-year rule still apply to them or there is no longer a required mandatory period for them

Your boss is a pure banker and not practising either as an accountant in business or accountant in public practice. That may have contributed to the difficulty she's experiencing in passing CR. My personal opinion though

I don't think so, If we can have have inexperienced young people passing then it has nothing to do with been experienced in certain practice or not. Moreover, remember CR is now a new paper in the new syllabus, she might not yet be at home with the 'devilish' standards (IAS & IFRS). Remember old accounts are prepared with schedules and quite different from what we are having now!

Last diet in sfm , i only attempted 3 1/2 questions without even the compulsory question which is 60 marks in all. but wen the result came out, i actually score more than 50 marks and i rated my self between 40 - 45 marks... So, i'm in the view that ICAN usually add more marks for students across the board.

Some people who scored 50 still think its there own answers that fetched them pass mark .. You better get you 50 marks and thank God..

@ Edun Pls don't confuse yourself.If ICAN want to adjust results to my best of knowledge, it would cut across most especially when majority of candidates scored less than fifty by flexing.
If you don't agree that means we can logically conclude that you didn't pass actually all the papers in ur skills level.They don't know anybody, you meet up the pass mark,you get ur 50 and go with ur people.That's my take.

You seem to be the one confusing yourself... you dont seem to get the point!!

You guys don't understand. The 48 & 49 exists after the adjustments have been added. That's assuming extra 10 marks are added across board, candidates that still have 48 & 49 can't be helped further.
It's my understanding that this adjustments are determined by the overall level of performance, as observed by the council, and hence it isn't guaranteed.

Thanks @Kraizybone.. they fail to get my point!! if a candidate score 38 and 10 marks is added across the board, even with such addition such candidate will still fail to meet up with the 50% mark.. I remember someone on this nairaland thread said that he marked his paper himself when he got home after the exam and he scored himself less than 50 and when the result came out he passed...

How do you account for that

Seriously. This implies that our institute might not have up to 40,000 chartered Accountants.. They should just try and qualify 2,000 Chartered Accountants this diet. ANAN has more members than ICAN presently. Anyway switching over to ANAN..

That's why lot of people qualified last diet, if you check the number compared to other diets you will be amazed!! They really released lot of people last diet, especially those having one or two paper to qualified. Same thing might happen this diet, anyway in God we trust!!!
